Descent OU Team

I am trying to make a team that revolves around the Celetran combo. I did my best, but lately I feel that the team is missing something. My strategy is usually to avoid switching because switching just gives your opponent more room to breathe and getting the upper hand.

Team Building Process:

My lead of choice is usually Machamp. He is awesome thanks to his ability.

These 2 are the MVP of my team. The only thing that doesn't make them an effective defensive combo (in my team) is the fact that my team is offensive.

Rotom-W is an amazing Pokemon with its epic typing and ability it covers a lot of my teams weaknesses.

The only thing bad about Latios is the fact that it can't hold Soul Dew in Ou. It is a perfect Pokemon that is very useful at taking out walls. Quagsire is my teams wall. He is not as good as Blissey or Chansey but due to his ability Unaware he takes out sweepers slowly. A lot of people seem to forget that he has Unaware.

In Depth:
068.png

Machamp @ Lum Berry | No Guard
Adamant | 240 HP / 248 Atk / 16 SpDef / 4 Spd
DynamicPunch | Payback | Bullet Punch | Ice Punch

Machamp's role is to crush as many Pokemon as possible. Lum Berry insures that he stays as long as possible. Payback is awesome especially when it surprises a Ghost-type switch-in. I am considering changing Bullet Punch with Stone Edge. But then again Bullet Punch is perfect for finishing off already weakened Pokemon, or just damage some Pokemon before Machamp dies.

485.png

Heatran @ Air Balloon | Flash Fire
Timid | 4 Def / 252 SpAtk / 252 Spd
Fire Blast | Earth Power | Hidden Power-Grass | Dragon Pulse

Heatran is awesome he takes any attack on like a boss...except for Earthquake.... Heatran is really useful, taking out "scarfed" dragon-types that Latios can't out speed. Heatran can 2OHKO almost any dragon-type. Earth Power takes out fire-types that think they can stall me with their other attacks, and is especially useful for taking out Tyranitar. Hidden Power-Grass isn't really useful, since it really can't OHKO it; so basically it just finishes them off.

251.png

Celebi @ Leftovers | Natural Cure
Modest | 220 HP / 252 Atk / 36 Spd
Nasty Plot | Giga Drain | Hidden Power-Fire | Psychic

I wasn't very about Celebi, but when I played with her I discovered how awesome she is. After +6 boost form Nasty Plot this cute thing becomes a sweeper, having the ability to (sometimes) OHKO Blissey with Giga Drain. Hidden Power-Fire surprises confident Ferrothorn, Forretress, and Jirachi switch-ins. Unfortunately a boost is required to OHKO them which gives them a good chance to paralyze Celebi.

479-wash.png

Rotom-W @ Leftovers | Levitate
Modest | 112 HP / 252 SpAtk / 144 Spd
Hydro Pump | ThunderBolt | Hidden Power-Ice | Pain Split

Rotom-W is awesome. It's typing is awesome, and because of its ability Ground-type moves are not so scary anymore. Pain Split is an epic move! At full HP Rotom can decrease Blissey's HP (full) by about 25% with Pain Split. The only disappointing thing is it's x4 weakness to Grass-type moves. Hidden Power-Ice is way better than Hidden Power-Fire because it also gets rid of Dragon and Ground-types; but Rotom isn't bulky enough to withstand the great power of Dragon-types.

381.png

Latios @ Life Orb | Levitate
Timid | 4 HP / 252 SpAtk / 252 Spd
Draco Meteor | Surf | Hidden Power-Fire | Psyshock

I will start of by saying...I REALLY HATE LIFE ORB!!! I decided to go with Choice Scarf, but that left me in very bad positions so I had to go with Life Orb. Too bad Soul Dew is Uber. Latios is just extreme. With all its awesome moves it becomes a bad-ass attacker. I went with Psyshock because it OHKO Blissey and other defensive walls.

195.png

Quagsire @ Leftovers | Unaware
Relaxed | 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpDef
Scald | Recover | Toxic | Earthquake

This thing is one of the greatest walls of all time. It's not as defensive as Blissey and its speed is horrible, but because of its AWESOME ability. Because it is rare in the Ou teir a lot of people forget its Hidden Ability.

Threats:
609.png
038.png
I have nothing to hit these guys with. They are fast and have awesome coverage. Ninetails is tougher because it usually carries Hidden Power-Ground/Fighting.

065.png
Alakazam has been a major threat to my teams. It has very nice coverage and epic speed. Sometimes they don't become a threat when they carry Psyshock because it is not strong enough to OHKO Machamp giving me a chance to 2OHKO it with Pyback and then Bullet Punch.

248.png
This guy is very bulky and has aweosme coverage. He can take on Heatran, Celebi, and Latios.

214.png
Heracross is a major threat. He can sweep my entire team with Mega Horn and Close Combat.

242.png
113.png
227.png
232.png
598.png
385.png
I can't deal with these, especially the ones with Wish.

472.png
Gliscor is one of the hardest Pokemon to deal with. Being both offensive and defensive it can wall and sweep my team.

186.png
Weather screw me, but rain has to be the worst one yet. Rain teams have awesome coverage and bascially can fit almost anything into their teams. Politoed is also very annoying because it is bulky.

649.png
Genesect is a very tricky Pokemon to deal with. Its great speed and awesome move pool makes it an unpredictable Pokemon.

Possible Replacements: *Do you think these might be better than the Pokemon I already have?
169.png
I have dealt with Crobat leads and they aren't bad.

053.png
424.png
Both of them make awesome leads. Their Fake Out is tough enough to 2OHKO my Machamp. They do so by using Fake Out and Protect and keep doing that.

134.png
I considered Vaporeon as a replacement for Rotom-W since it is bulkier and can use Wish.

036.png
Clefable might make a good replacement for Quagsire. Not only does it have Unaware but it has better SpDef than Quagsire, but it's Def is a little lower.

Pokemon That Might Fit: *These Pokemon might have a place in my team but I am not sure who should they replace!
649.png
I used Gensect when I was playing Uber and he is really a very useful Pokemon.

143.png
Snorlax with Rest, Sleeptalk and Immunity can wall Blissey.

By the way, do you think Stone Edge would be a better option than Ice Punch?

Thank you for reading and rating! ^.^ Please do me a favor and rate because I really worked hard on this RMT. Also feel free to leave suggestion that might help me improve my future RMTs. Thanks again :3

Hey there bud,

I like the uniqueness of your team, but I think it would be better with a few changes.

Heatran: Gastrodon is really not common enough to warrant HP Grass and besides, you have Celebi for that. You also lack hazards, an excellent component of any succesful team so lets switch Hidden Power for Stealth Rock.

Rotom: This little buddy is fortunately not 4x weak to Grass as you might think, he only has a 2x weakness thanks to his Electric/Water typing. Because you have a defensive Rotom, I would suggest you run Will O Wisp over HP Ice, as you still have Hydro Pump to hit ground types, and now gain the ability to burn Dragons.

Latios: If you hate Life Orb have you considered Expert Belt? Apart from not draining your HP, E-Belt allows you to bluff a Choice Item, while boosting super effective moves by 20%.

Celebi: While NP Celebi can be powerful in its own right, the U-turn fraught metagame of today means that Celebi really won't have too much time to set up. Instead, give the more support based Tinker Bell Set a whirl, it provides a solid defensive and offensive backbone for your team.

Closing Notes:

Blissey is really not as common as you think it is, and though it never hurts to be prepared, I wouldn't overcentralize your team around one defensive threat in general.

As for your question in the last part of your RMT, Ice Punch generally goes very well alongside Fighting Stab to eliminate Gliscor and Landorus. I would use Stone Edge if you feel threatened by Volcarona (which in all fairness does a number to your team).

The format of this RMT was attractive and clean, and it was very nice for you to include a threat list. For future RMT's, considering elaborating on each team member's role in order to help out team raters.

Celebi Set
Celebi @ Leftovers
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 232 HP / 240 SAtk / 36 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Leaf Storm
- Thunder Wave
- Recover
- Hidden Power [Ice]

You might also want to check out Smogon's resource for battling, Battling 101, though you clearly understand basic teambuilding there are many metagame threats that are not accounted for in this team, and while this is okay, most reliable teams need answers to the common sets of OU's juggernauts. In the forum I have linked to lies an array of resources and people who want to help you be a great battler and teambuilder. Good Luck!

Hey man. This looks a lot like a dpp team, with the addition of Latios and a few other things!

One thing I noticed is that you like any mon with SR, so if you find that HP Grass is useless on Heatran I think SR would be a great replacement for it.

You may also want to consider dropping HP Fire on either Celebi or Latios, since the vast majority if your team can handle Ferrrothorns, Forrys, and Scizors pretty well. Both Celebi and Latios have great movepools so finding a replacement for those moves shouldn't be that difficult!

This really is a descent team! GL!

Thanks for the suggestions very much! But I have a question about this Battle 101 thing. How can I get an OU tutor? Can you please link me to the post or something?

You'll want to check out the Battling 101 forum to get more information. According to the B101 Schedule, you'll be able to sign up for a tutor on the 21st, this Friday! I'd suggest giving those forums a good look through if you're interested in being tutored. I hope that helps!
