Hello everyone! My name's Devin and I have been wanting to post an RMT on here for a while now since last I did was in march. This is a team I have used in plenty of Premier Leagues and it has been doing really well so far. Time to showcase the team.
Building Process:
Rillaboom is like the most perfect staple for ho in SS OU and also serves as a great Pivot+Breaker as well.
So I decided to add in Zone just so it can trap annoying steels such as Corv/Skarm. Also gives me a Volt-Turn Core plus a steel type which is always nice to have.
Next up, I decided to add in Zeraora for speed control plus more breaking power. It becomes a bigger threat with bulk up, helps with late game sweeping. Give's me an electric resist too.
The Main Idea of the team was around Grudge Pult, and since the team was Volcarona weak, I decided to add it in. Pult here helps me deal with Volcarona.
Urshifu here takes advantage of Grudge Pult, as Clefable(its main check) loses all it's pp due to Grudge.
Of course, I wasn't planning on using a build with nothing for opposing Urshifus and Also no ground resist. Togekiss here fitted in quite well.
Rillaboom @ Choice Band
Ability: Grassy Surge
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
Grassy Glide
Knock Off
U-turn
Wood Hammer
I made Rillaboom jolly just so I out speed other Rillabooms that are mostly adamant. It's upto you really if you want the Rilla to be Jolly or Adamant, although Jolly is preferred here. Outspeeding other Rillabooms+Togekiss really helps in some situations. Also having Rillaboom as the first pick gives me a lot of options to run other things in the team that you will see later on in this RMT.
Magnezone @ Choice Specs
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 144 Def / 112 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
Volt Switch
Thunderbolt
Flash Cannon
Body Press
Magnezone was the second pokemon added to the team as it does a great job with trapping Corviknight/Skarmory which completely wall Rillaboom. Decided to have Body Press in-order to catch excadrill switch ins. As you all know, RillaZone is a deadly combo and especially with Corviknight/Skarmory gone , Rillaboom immediately becomes a threat as you can spam grassy glide freely. Also having zone gives u a mini volt turn core in the team which is always great to have! Calc:
Zeraora @ Grassy Seed
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
Bulk Up
Plasma Fists
Close Combat
AcrobaticsThe third pokemon added to the team was Zeraora as I noticed how weak I was to Amoonguss and also how the team did not have speed control. This Zeraora set helps a lot with late game sweeping especially when you have chipped the opposing team enough for it to clean up. Obviously this is not here for just Amoonguss but for late game sweeping so saving up Rillaboom for this zera to clean up later in the game is crucial. It also does pretty well vs opposing ditto stalls. Since your Zera just auto wins the ditto mu. Here are some calcs:
The trick to make this Zeraora work is to send it out late game or position it in a way where it can sweep. Obviously please do use the damage calculator as I may have forgotten to post some other calcs. Here is an example replay of how it works: https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen8ou-1195627461-50ybmeuulxtghqz65xxi0nug9lrx06jpw . In this replay you can see, I had to play the endgame in a way in which I wouldn't get swept by a +1 Volcarona I had to make some plays in order to get the Zera in since it really swept at that point since Amoonguss was gone and everything was chipped. Creds to Grudge Pult(Will explain it later in this RMT).
Dragapult @ Life Orb
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Naughty Nature
Dragon Dance
Phantom Force
Dragon Darts
GrudgeNext up is grudge pult, now I am sure you all have seen this around as finch also made a vid on it while laddering for suspect test. Grudge Pult was a tech I came up with back in March and although it hasn't seen much usage , I still like having it in my ho's as it really does work well for me(Yup gonna get c teamed now, jk). Anyways first I will explain the set. It's your usual dd set but has 0 SpD iv's with naughty nature. This is to make sure that your pult always dies to moonblast from clef/primarina or any fairy that might threaten your team. In-order for this to work, you need to position dragapult in a way where clef has to moonblast you. You need a +1 dd up, whether you set it up on a volcarona, or something which pult does well against, so that clef has to come in and has to click moonblast. Once Clef loses moonblast pp, fighting types such as urshifu/Hawlucha become even more broken as you can setup freely in their face. You can see how to use it in the replay I posted above in the zeraora description. Calc:
Urshifu @ Life Orb
Ability: Unseen Fist
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
Wicked Blow
Close Combat
Sucker Punch
Bulk UpAs I mentioned in the previous paragraph, I decided to add in one of the most broken mons in OU currently. Urshifu goes crazy once clef moonblast pp is finished. You basically setup with it and keep clicking wicked blow until your opponent decides to click x.
Togekiss @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
Trick
Nasty Plot
Roost
Air SlashFor the last slot, I saw how freely Urshifu can click wicked blow against this team. Obviously I wouldn't wanna go into my own Urshifu in-order to stop opposing Urshifus. I decided to throw in scarf trick Togekiss. The benefits here were that this gives me a flying type+fairy, which both serves as a good ground resist+wicked blow resist. Choice Scarf Also give's you speed control even though you got Zera+Pult+Grassy glide. Reason why I have Trick here is that it's really good vs fat teams, the build is already really strong vs fat teams but scarf Togekiss is another bonus to have. As you can always click trick on opposing Blisseys and then setup Nasty Plots and sweep.
Threat List:
will have to outplay it even though u got togekiss.
+1 , will have to hard dragapult on volcarona always. The matchup is very playable though.
, will have to make plays vs the matchup but its dealt with as well.
Might have missed more mons, but these are the 3 mons I have problems with this build.
I hope you all liked this RMT, and if you have any other suggestions do leave them below! Here is the Paste: https://pokepast.es/59297d80d655268f
