[Overview]

Diancie's great Defenses and good defensive typing allow it to be a reliable Stealth Rock setter while it checks common threats, such as Exploud, Salazzle, and Talonflame. Its STAB combination in conjunction with Body Press also makes it difficult for many teams to comfortably switch into and exploit its weaknesses as it is capable of hitting key metagame staples, such as Coppherajah, Machamp, and Flygon for super effective damage. Diancie's low HP and lack of a reliable recovery move means that one must be careful to ensure it doesn't get overwhelemed too quickly. These traits also inhibit its ability to switch into Knock Off users to capitalize on its Dark-type resistance. While its Rock-typing allows it to uniquely check Fire- and Flying-types as a defensive Fairy-type, that also makes it more vulnerable to Fighting-types like Sirfetch'd and Mienshao, which isn't necessarily ideal with how powerful these Pokemon are. Diancie's vulnerability to other top threats, like Copperajah, Vileplume, and Blastoise also must be accounted for to succeed with it.

This set capitalizes on Diancie's good defensive profile to check the likes of Zoroark and Salazzle and provide Stealth Rock support for its team. Body Press provides crucial Steel-type coverage against the likes of Copperajah and Bronzong, and a +2 Body Press can even OHKO Copperajah, a common switch-in for Diancie many teams employ.

Diancie is quite vulnerable to common bulky Grass- and Water-types, so strong teammates that can handle them, such as Vileplume and Roserade, are good options. More offensive Grass-types, such as Decidueye, Celebi, and Rotom-Mow can handle the Water-types switching into Diancie and appreciate Diancie's ability to reliably handle Fire- and Flying-types for them. Steel-type switch-ins, such as Talonflame, Arcanine, and Guzzlord, are appreciated as relying on +2 Body Press to deter them is not always ideal. Arcanine and Talonflame also check certain Grass-types, while Guzzlord is more reliably able to handle Rotom-Mow and Celebi. Sirfetch'd is a great offensive teammate that can check Steel- and Ground-types for Diancie while appreciating Diancie's ability to switch into Fire- and Flying-types, as well as generally faster special attackers, like Goodra and Indeedee-F, which could revenge kill it.

Heal Bell can allow Diancie to provide cleric support for its team, but it struggles to fit it in over the suggested moves.

Checks and Counters
====

**Water-types**: Diancie has issues against multiple Water-types in the tier. Starmie and Gastrodon are the biggest problems as each is capable of reliably switching into any move Diancie uses and can proceed to either Recover to stay healthy or threaten Diancie with powerful Water-type moves.

**Grass-types**: Vileplume is the hardest Grass-type for Diancie to face due to its high physical bulk and resistance to both Body Press and Moonblast. It can then harrass Diancie's team with Strength Sap or Corrosive Gas, or threaten Diancie itself with Giga Drain. Celebi can use Diancie as setup fodder for its Nasty Plot set. Other Grass-types, such as Decidueye and Dhelmise are much more prone to being worn down by repeated switch-ins, but both can take a couple of hits and threaten with their powerful Grass-type STABs.

**Ground-types**: Golurk, Mudsdale, and Flygon all are able to dispatch Diancie with their powerful Ground-type STABs. Golurk is immune to Body Press, thus easily allowing it to overcome Diancie's potential Defense boosts while Mudsdale's Stamina ability will mitigate any boosts Diancie gets itself. Flygon has to be careful of switching in as Moonblast will do a lot, but it can also U-turn on a forced switch to maintain momentum.

**Steel-types**: Escavalier, Copperajah, and Bronzong are good Steel-types that can exploit Diancie's brutal 4x Steel weakness, although Copperajah and Bronzong must be careful of Diancie getting a Diamond Storm boost as they switch in as +2 Body Press is able to overcome both of them.

The QC team feel that physically defensive is the better set due to better mu vs fighters and sigi being gone. This is the set:
Diancie @ Leftovers
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spe
Relaxed Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Moonblast
- Diamond Storm
- Body Press

252 hp cos 304 is divisible 16 -- lefties number. nuke tox entirely from the set comments.

In the future please do not comment on basic stuff like unnotable STAB attacks or what a move does e.g. protect. "What is the purpose of the moves, item, ability, and nature + evs? There is no need to talk about basic STAB moves, useless abilities, or simple EV spreads like 252/4/252."

Ping me once the changes have been done and I'll look over again

This set capitalizes on Diancie's good defensive profile to check the likes of Exploud and Salazzle and provide Stealth Rock support for its team. Diamond Storm hammers the likes of Talonflame and Arcanine while also hitting potential switch-ins, such as Roserade and Starmie, for solid damage. The +2 Defense boost can also allow Diancie to beat the likes of Bronzong, Drapion, and Pangoro should it still be healthy enough. Body Press provides crucial Steel- and Normal-type coverage against the likes of Copperajah and Exploud, and a +2 Body Press can even OHKO Copperajah, a common switch-in for Diancie many teams employ. (exploud is not common and you beat it anyway, but since the whole set is changed just try and rework some of these sentences) Moonblast OHKOes Pangoro while also hitting Flygon, Kingdra, and other Fighting-types for 2HKOes. However, Diancie can opt to rely on +2 Body Press to cover these threats and run Toxic to instead cripple defensive switch-ins, such as Cresselia, Mantine, and Gastrodon. Protect, Toxic, or Heal Bell can be used over Stealth Rock should Diancie's team already have another user of the move. Protect can scout choice item users, stall for Leftovers recovery, and stall for more Toxic damage should it be used over Moonblast. Heal Bell can provide crucial cleric support for Diancie and its teammates, making the status move tactics from Talonflame, Arcanine, and Vileplume much less effective. A specially defensive spread is necessary to maximize Diancie's effectiveness against powerful special attackers, such as Exploud, Salazzle, Zoroark, and Dragalge. Careful is used over Sassy as it does not hinder the ability to OHKO Pangoro or 2HKO other Moonblast targets while ensuring Diancie can still outspeed most Copperajah variants and remove it from play with a +2 Body Press.

anything to do w tox or natures w the current set will be altered with the new set

Diancie is quite vulnerable to common bulky Grass- and Water-types, especially should it lack Toxic to passively threaten them in the long run. Vileplume is able to handle most of these Pokemon effectively and can even opt to not run an item to easily absorb Knock Off for Diancie from the likes of Pangoro. More offensive Grass-types, such as Decidueye, Celebi, and Rotom-Mow can handle the Water-types switching into Diancie as well as bulky Ground-types, and appreciate Diancie's ability to reliably handle Fire- and Flying-types for them. Steel-type switch-ins are appreciated as relying on +2 Body Press to deter them is not always ideal. Fire-types, such as Arcanine and Talonflame can handle Copperajah and Bronzong while also checking Bewear and certain Grass-types. Guzzlord is more reliably able to handle Rotom-Mow and Celebi while still comfortably switching into most Copperajah and Bronzong's common moves. Entry hazard removal from Starmie, Dhelmise, and Mantine is helpful as Diancie lacks reliable recovery and is vulnerable to every form of entry hazard. Starmie and Dhelmise utilize Rapid Spin effectively, which means Diancie doesn't have to set up Stealth Rock multiple times and can focus on dealing damage or spreading Toxic. Wish support from Vaporeon can also be helpful and it's also immune to Water-type moves, but be wary of the shared Grass-type weakness. Bewear is a great offensive teammate that can check Steel- and Ground-types for Diancie while appreciating Diancie's ability to switch into Fire- and Flying-types, as well as generally faster special attackers, like Goodra and Indeedee-F, which could revenge kill it.

alter accordingly to the set change. i would consider cutting down on anything you might deem fluff here, it's kinda long

Diancie can reliably set up Trick Room and run a more offensive EV spread to better take advantage of its good coverage, but full Trick Room teams are highly inconsistent and niche. Heavy-Duty Boots can be used as an alternate item choice to alleviate Diancie's issues with entry hazards, but this will only serve to exaccerbate the reliable recovery issue it has. A more offensive Stealth Rock set with Shuca Berry can be used in order to turn the tables on Drapion and Flygon, however Diancie can just as easily try for a +2 Defense boost before these Pokemon switch in.

put heal bell here. don't think toxic is relevant enough to even be in oo and other qc seem to share that opinion -- same w tect, it's 'fine' but not something that needs to be explicitly suggested on diancie

tr isn't that good and uxie outclasses

qc team don't think boots are that relevant to diancie to warrant a mention
shuca does not sound worth it and never seen it

**Water-types**: Diancie has issues against multiple Water-types in the tier. Starmie and Gastrodon are the biggest problems as each is capable of reliably switching into any move Diancie uses and can proceed to either Recover to stay healthy or threaten Diancie with powerful Water-type moves. Starmie even has Natural Cure on some sets to thwart Toxic attempts from Diancie.

**Grass-types**: Vileplume is the hardest Grass-type for Diancie to face due to its high physical bulk and resistance to both Body Press and Moonblast while also being immune to Toxic should Diancie run it. It can then harrass Diancie's team with Strength Sap or Corrosive Gas or threaten Diancie itself with Giga Drain. Celebi can use Diancie as setup fodder for its Nasty Plot set while having Natural Cure to ignore Toxic attempts.

**Entry Hazards**: Diancie's lack of reliable recovery and vulnerability to all forms of entry hazards means it can be worn down quickly by them. Roserade and Golisopod have a difficult time switching directly to Roserade due to their low physical bulk and Rock weakness respectively, but both can use Diancie's teammates as openings to set up Spikes. Celebi and Mudsdale are aforementioned counters to Diancie that can set up Stealth Rock while Drapion, Dragalge, and Weezing can reliably set up Toxic Spikes, although the latter form of entry hazard is unreliable due to how common grounded Poison-types are. (not wholly necessary, diancie isn't exactly coming in 24/7 and this could be same about a lot of mons)

Diancie's great Defenses and good defensive typing allow it to be a reliable Stealth Rock setter while it checks common threats, such as Exploud Braviary, Salazzle, and Talonflame. Its STAB combination in conjunction with Body Press also makes it difficult for many teams to comfortably switch into and exploit its weaknesses as it is capable of hitting key metagame staples, such as Coppherajah, Machamp Mienshao, and Flygon for super effective damage. Diancie's vulnerability to other top threats, like Copperajah, Vileplume, and Blastoise also must be accounted for to succeed with it. (these last two sentences can probably be condensed a bit. "Furthermore, despite being a defensive Fairy-type, it's a shaky answer to Fighting-types like x and y, and the prevalence of key threats like x, y, and z harms its standing as a general defensive Pokemon." something like this would work imo)

Diancie is quite vulnerable to common bulky Grass- and Water-types, so strong teammates that can handle them, such as Vileplume and Roserade Talonflame and Vileplume,(Roserade bad, and this gives you one example for each type noted) are good options. More offensive Grass-types, such as Decidueye, Celebi, and Rotom-Mow Rotom-C can handle the Water-types switching into Diancie and appreciate Diancie's ability to reliably handle Fire- and Flying-types for them.
