Personally, I want them to do whatever it takes to give signature moves better reputation (shut up, Xerneas!).
Doubtful. I'm assuming it will be a brand new ability, otherwise there's really no point in keeping it a secret. Although Serene Grace would be cool.
Could this be the auto trick room setter we've been waiting for? I mean come on there has to be some reason Diancie learns Trick Room while Carbink doesn't.
I think that's a little harsh for something that's going to have a 700 BST and can actually defend itself with higher offensive stats than Carbink's pathetic base 50's.
I like it how I created this thread for the sole reason that we knew everything about Diancie... and then it got a Mega. Oh well.
Anyways, I saw Diancie as a UU Pokemon with a decent niche in OU as a check/counter to specific threats, but with a Mega boost I think it may be straight up OU. I'm excited to see what it's new ability is (Regenerator please!)

They've kept abilities secret for no reason before, iirc they did it for genesect's download. They just want to keep you in suspense about something.
It should be noted that some Pokemon have had moves added to their level up list with newer game installments within a generation. For example, Totodile/Croconaw/Feraligatr learned Flail by leveling up in HG/SS but not in D/P. So perhaps Diancie may learn a new move by leveling up in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.

I don't see Diancie being OU material even with a mega, unless it's typing changes or it receives some spectacular move, I think that Scizor's bullet punch and every other steel type in OU will keep it down.

I know that. Mega Venusaur is such a fantastic mon that it's benefits far outweigh it's negatives. I can't say the same for Diancie
We don't know ANYTHING about it, it's way to early to judge. Landorus has a 4x ice weakness, weakness =/= bad. It's positives may outweigh its negatives, we don't know yet.
We really need to know it's ability before we says it sucks. maybe it gets regenerator or whatever.

Also, base stats don't mean that much. As I said, Mega Diancie is still stuck with a base 50 HP, meaning that even if you increase its defenses to base 170 each it's still less bulky than Shuckle. And at that point you're sacrificing your Mega slot too. What does Diancie offer? I don't see any offensive sets work simply because Steel-types fully wall it, and those appear on every other team at least. Sure, it "walls" things like Talonflame (not a big accomplishment, any Rock-type can say that) but it has no recovery whatsoever. Can't even run Lefties on Mega Diancie, so it can only take so many hits, and is forced out by anything called Steel.
You might as well use Carbink just so you don't waste your Mega Slot. It's not like you're going to hit anything with that awful movepool of Diancie anyway.
Do you already know what tutor moves is Diancie going to learn to say that? :o
Tbh discussing Mega-Diancie so early is pointless, not just because we don't know jack shit about stats and ability, but also because it isn't most likely coming before ORAS, which will be a completely different metagame from XY for sure, because of new move tutors, new levelup moves and new mega evolutions, maybe with some new abilities as well. And then there are the Primal Evolution. Dunno, I think is better to discuss regular Diancie for now, in order to avoid a complete shitfest.
I definitely agree; ladies and gentlemen, if you wish to discuss Mega-Diancie, head over to Orange Islands; otherwise, let's keep this conversation focused on normal Diancie.
I still think it will be crap... I just want to see Mega Swampert get a new physical water move "Ocean Bench Press" which only pokemon which lift can use.
I'll lol if they give Mega Diancie +50 offenses so it is literally the same boost it got going from Carbink to Diancie. It would be pretty decent, effectively having stats similar to Aegislash... but with worse typing... worse movepool... worse HP and speed...

Maybe it will get those attack boosts and Pixilate as an ability so that it wouldn't have to run mixed all the time?
