Do you like swarms of things?

I do. I breed lizards and have around 15 of them. I also breed cockroaches (not the bad American or German roaches, but a sensitive one that looks badass- false death's head cockroach). I also have some Tanebrionid beetles (okay, just mealworms, sounds cooler when I quote their family name).

I am just curious, by way of discussion: Are you scared of or do you posses a distaste for reptiles? <insert same question as before> with insects or other arthropods, such as spiders, millipedes or centipedes?

Discuss, please.

I don't like centipedes. I can't stand the sight of them. One of my friends likes worms. She has 30something of them. She froze and buried them.

Translation: I have no problem with these things; it doesn't freak me out like it does to some people.

what the fuck? this isn't firebot

and yeah, i'm not too fond of centipedes even though i know all they can really do to me is crawl a lot. any insect that i know can bite me or lay eggs on me will scare me a bit. it's not a phobia, though.

It is cool.

And I put a bunch of roaches in a 29 gallon with head pads...I throw in any food that goes bad plus a smidge of protein. They are insane.

I love reptiles and frogs, used to have several different kinds as pets when I was little, but I do not like most bugs or spiders and I'm indifferent to snakes. Frogs are the cutest, especially when they're "hunting", it's so lol.

i dont mind them, per se

but doesnt the whole breeding thing have a bit of an effect on your love life ?_?

Good point. It's like a filter. I had a girlfriend for 2.5 years, she lived with me for a year(!)...then she became her *bitch* mom and ruined everything. She was so into it, seriously we had a breeding colony (lol) together. Also we bred lizards. Bad example of the filter, but people are out there that love this.

Seriously, I've learned: If you tell a girl things like this too early, they run scared. Whenever you've dated them a few times and bring them home and they go WTF is this let me see...that's the big thing. If they are like "OMG how cute is that gecko" (only 2 people ever, one m one f, haven't loved the geckos) they obviously either like geckos (lol) or like YOU enough to stay. I expect a few things to take some time, like the roaches, but good people that I have stuff in common with come around.

As long as you don't let your major hobby, such as this or say...fixing cars on your front lawn while drinking discount beer (no judgement, lol), dictate who you are and define you as "OMG HE'S THE LIZARD GUY LOLZA" you should be okay...and again, it'll filter out the 'shitties' who have nothing in common with you.

I like lizards, I think they're cute

but only because I sorta fancy that one gecko in those Geico commercials.

but they'd still be cute to have

bugs suck though.

Spiders make my skin crawl, but I love lizards. Actually, I really enjoy spraying Black Widows with insecticide and watching them die in agony. Yeah, I'm fucked up, but that motherfucker was on the side of my house!

I HATE Mosquitos. Cockroaches are disgusting, why couldn't God make their inevitable death under my foot less messy?

Spiders I don't mind, they kill the other stuff and generally leave you well enough alone.

I don't encounter lizards much in the northeast, so I don't really care either way. Wouldn't want a Gator in my backyard though.

I used to breed a cockroach when I was a child. Her name was Madeleine.

So that's where madeleine went...

My best friend used to breed alligators and then sell them. That was kinda funky. I don't mind reptiles in the slightest, but insects terrify me. Spiders are the worst... I actually can't go in a room that I have seen a spider in for days afterwards. If a box once had one in it, I will never touch it again.

I cannot put into words how much spiders scare me. If a spider is any decent size, I will not even go in the same room with it until someone kills it. I can't look at any pictures of them either. On a different forum, someone posted a picture of a tarantula and it took me by surprise and I seriously broke down and cried. This is probably funny to some of you, but it's a real problem for me.

Now I know that some of you are gonna be like "lol ima post pic now", and please don't. This isn't a joke.

I used to know someone who had the exact same problem, execpt she was terribly afraid of any kind of reptiles. For myself,I really don't mind reptiles,I'm not to very fond of spiders though.

brrrrrrr... Sooo happy I don't live where you live. I don't mind spiders unless they can kill or harm me. I like reptiles unless they are 2 meters long and called crocodile or iguana or something.

Dude, Iguanas can't do shit to you, they sit around sunbathing all day. They're herbivores..
