Doctor Who

What do the people that watch it think of the new Doctor Who series? Is it better?Worse? The same?Discuss it here.(If this is the wrong place please move it)

TBH the new guy fits in well and seems like a David Tennant who has morphed into something else. Pretty much the same.

The current doctor is alright, but I don't think he was as good as David Tennant or Christopher Eccleston. The story line however is much worse. They did get a different main writer but the writer they chose has written for doctor who before and made one of the best episodes. I really don't like the new daleks who have been fused together with the teletubbies. The relationship between the doctor and his companion, in terms of the actors' relationships, is nowhere near as good as that between the doctor and Rose, Martha and Donna. It is all seeming extremely predictable and in my opinion rubbsh. If by series you mean all five seasons then I would say it has, mostly, been very good.

This season's stories are far more confusing, particularly the dreams episode, and I still don't get what the hell was with those Daleks.

As for the Doctor himself, I'm inclined to say that, as a character, he has gone backwards. Who stopped the star whale from being tortured? Amy. The Doctor wanted to kill it! Who stopped the Daleks' bomb from going off? Amy. I hope the Doctor makes up for his shortcomings in those scenes.

I actually liked the Dream Lord episode. I thought that the particular lines:

Dream Lord: Now then, the prognosis is this: if you die in the dream, you wake up in reality, healthy recovery in next to no time. Ask me what happens if you die in reality.
Rory: What happens?
Dream Lord: You die, stupid. That's why it's called "reality".

were amazing. If you want confusing or trite, the let everyone think of the doctor at the same time in the finale of the third season was rather silly.

I meant the new season which they are calling the new series on some Doctor Who sites. As I am in the US,I haven't seen the dreamlord episode yet,and can't wait for it.David Tennant was much better as the Doctor, and Russel T. Davies was a much better writer. They haven't really answered anything yet, like, why is it a big deal that Amy said it was a duck pond? Why doesn't Amy remember the Daleks?Just a lot of questions, but so far it's passable to me.

I don't like Matt Smith at all. He irks me in the way he'll often phrase something in a confusing way - making a question sound like a challenge or a statement sound like a question at completely inappropriate times. That, and his costume is hideous and an obvious attempt to dress lamb up as mutton because Smith is too young for the role.

I do think the overall quality of the show has jumped up though, and I thank Moffat for that. RTD was a moron: the Daleks were a cutesy and boring non-threat, the technobabble deus ex machinas were boring and in later seasons the show seemed to be about spectacle rather than story.

Under Moffat we have more cerebral stories, if not always quite as exciting because of that. Victory of the Daleks is one of my favourite episodes, and my favourite Dalek-related episode. I loved Moffat's "you suck" to RTD: the new Daleks pointing out the old ones are inferior and the old ones agreeing. The old Daleks did suck because they'd been so overused and reduced to the last three or four so damn often, so I found that scene hilarious.
