Does anyone here go to anime conventions?

Just a simple question. Do you go to anime conventions?

As for me, I've been to two cons so far: Tsubasacon (my state's anime con) and Tekkoshocon. Both of these are small cons.

However, on February 6th to 8th, I will be attending New York Comic Con. This will be my first time attending a BIG anime convention and I'm really excited about it!! =D

Heh, good for you. There aren't much anime conventions in Sydney, or any ones I could easily go to anyway. I'm not a huge anime fan either way.

I went to Northern Anime Festival not once, not twice, but thrice! Mostly (entirely) because a good friend of mine runs the damn thing.

I went to a con this fall with my brother and some friends and it was awesome. We're going to the San Diego Comic Con this summer which should be pretty incredible!

I went to one once (becuase of a tournament that happened to be on the same place), but i don't like anime so i really never been into other cons after that.

Personally i didn't had fun, too much people, a lot of people cosplaying... ew :/ However, this convention wasn't that big so pretty much sucked.

i have a few friends who go to the two i know of in seattle but i have never been myself. i can appreciate the artwork but some of the crowd it attracts is not for me. (read fat, smelly people lol). i figure if i had problems dealing with some peoples hygiene at PAX then an anime convention is definitely not the place for me.

We have Pokémon tournaments in anime conventions here, so that's enough to make me go to one of them at least once in a while.

been going to anime conventions since 2000, as as of 2 years ago i started doing panels work at nekocon.
ones i usually go to:
nekocon(the one i go to the most)
AMA (which i will probably be boycotting from now on)
otakon
katsucon

In my experience, the anime conventions tend to be a lot better for hygiene then something like PAX.

It is a lot of fun. I think I'll be going again this year. Just remember that you can only purchase tickets online this year due to the fact that last year was the first time it sold out.

One of the things I decided to do last year was waste my time going around asking people if I could take my picture. You'd be surprised how fun it actually is. Especially when you convince the people who should never have worn a costume to take a picture. So many illegitimate Sailor Moons... so many...

If not, no, I don't go to Anime Conventions. Not much I can really say there, unless you want to stretch the fact that there is some anime stuff at SDCC.

I never went to one, and I probably never will go to one, because we don't have those things here in Belgium. It seems pretty fun, though. Maybe some day...

I went to my first anime convention in this past November. I had an awesome time! I ended up going to YoumaCon in Michigan with my sister and some of her friends. This next year we plan on going and renting a room at the con to stay all four days and skip school. >:D

Yeah, we already got our tickets. Also, we cosplayed at the con we went to. xD We were the New Fantastic Four (Spider-Man, Ghost Rider, Hulk, Wolverine) used in the What If? issue that was a tribute to Mike [whatever his last name is]. We're probably cosplaying again at SD, but we haven't made any decisions yet. We have 5 guys this time, so we'll probably use a larger team or some sort of a different theme.

I'm actually going to Ohayocon with some friends tomorrow after school. ^_^ It'll be my fourth anime convention (my first, ColossalCon back in 07 was kinda shitty, but the ones after that have been great), but I'm kinda hurting on funds and am not entire sure if I'll be able to put up for room, food, and souvenirs, but oh well.

I went to Tekkoshocon in '05. It was a little bland....other than the merchandise. =D I think I spent about $100 in pocky, ramune, manga, and a huge imported Bulbasaur doll.

Haven't been to one since.
