So, I've always been a huge fan of Char Y and have tried many times to try to incorporate it's drought into an innovative team such as sun offense and what not, but it honestly just isn't good. So i decided to take a step back and make a team that focused on itself in the sun not the other pokemon. I know that Bloo has already done something similar to this, but i took a more balanced approach as that is my favorite style of play along with using some pokemon that aren't seen a whole lot.
Team building process:
I loved this mega evolution so i wanted to build around it.
I needed something that could take care of the latis, and I really don't like bisharp so I chose scarf tar.
I needed a defogger and Fighting types were going to be a major issue since the usually carry rock coverage so i added a Latios.
I needed something that could set up rocks while also being able to take physical attacks, so I went with the overused piece of crap that is landorus.
I then needed something to deal with greninja because it would 6-0 me at this point so I put AV raikou because it does that while also forming a volt turn core with Lando.
I then had a huge problem with scarf Landorus T, but also wanted something that could be a secondary sweeper so I went with crocune because it sets up on Lando and also has great synergy with Ttar and the team in general.

Charizard:
So this is what I wanted to build around. Just like it's cousin char-x it has access to ungodly power only, instead of needing a DD or SD to access it, It's ability is it's set up. Under drought fire blast is boosted to insane levels and solar beam becomes potent with it's charge turn eliminated. This thing is an absolute monster, and given the chance it will punch through an entire team. At base 100 speed it also has access to a decent speed tier boosted. The biggest deception that it gives off is how bulky it actually is. It has a huge Sp. def stat, and in the sun it's actually quite formidable with the ability to roost off most hits. The major downside is the 50% rock damage which can be really frustrating, however it can be roosted off.
Charizard @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Fire Blast
- Solar Beam
- Focus Blast
- Roost
Tyranitar:
Char-y has a major problem with the lati twins and talon flame, so I put in scarf tar. This thing is kind of deceptively fast because the fact that the most common set now a days is the bulky utility set. While it isn't exactly a defensive Pokemon with a scarf, it's insane natural bulk give it the ability to take a hit and then sneakily revenge kill. Really a fantastic mon that I haven't used enough, and this is my first time ever using the scarf set. The sand is actually a big help as it doesn't hurt all of my team, and can help stop the super annoying rain offense.
Tyranitar @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Pursuit
- Crunch
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
Latios:
I needed a defogger, and my go to is the twins. I wanted a little extra power this time so I went with him. He's such a fantastic mon, like it can defog, but also take out and check a plethora of different pokemon. I put earthquake on it because it lures in heatrans, and heatran is almost a dead stop to char Y. Honestly nothing is much better than getting into the spot where you get to drop a free draco and just destroy something.
Latios (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Earthquake
- Defog
Landorus:
I needed a defensive beefcastle that could sponge up hits while also being able to set up rocks and deal decent amounts of damage, so enter this beast. It is able to take just about any physical hit bar ice or water. It also has access to the amazing move of u-turn which allows it to be the premier pivot in the metagame today. I didn't use the scarf set because I needed stealth rock, and also I've come to fall in love with the slow U-turn that this set has access to. Overall it does it's job amazingly well. I put knock off because it helps cripple chansey which this team otherwise has a convoluted way of dealing with and it also has two flying checks already.
Landorus-Therian (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 240 Def / 8 SpD / 8 Spe
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- U-turn
- Earthquake
- Knock Off
Raikou:
I needed a check to greninja, and didn't want to use azumarill or clefable because the kill momentum and don't really have much offensive presence. I was looking through pokemon and saw that AV raikou is able to live 2 hydro pumps as well as OHKO greninja with it's amazing power. It also brought the luxury of being able to form a volt turn core with landorus which I really like the idea of. It runs enough speed to speed creep Thundurus which is great because it basically hard counters it. It is a great check to so many pokemon because it is often unexpected and has great offensive presence.
Raikou @ Assault Vest
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 SpA / 32 SpD / 224 Spe
Timid Nature
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Shadow Ball
Suicune:
Scarf Landorus was a huge problem and this thing completely destroys it. It eats up any hit it wants to throw out and then sets up calm minds and proceeds to win the game. It has awsome synergy with landorus as well as it is able to eat up the water and ice hits that scare landorus out. being a mono attacker it has many counters, but this team does a fantastic job of getting rid of those and allowing it to set up and go for game. TTar in particular is able to eliminate most of the premier counters for this monster. this was a keldeo before, but this patches up weaknesses as it does beat chansey 1v1 as well as checking some huge physical threats.
Suicune @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Calm Mind
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
- Scald
So that's pretty much it! All rates are welcomed with open arms because I love to learn from the great players that are here to help!
