ORAS OU Double weather

Hi, I very randomly felt like making a team around Zard-Y. I'd like some advices about what could be better in this team. Don't expect new, creative pokemons or sets though, this is a very mainstream team.

charizard-mega-y.png

Charizard @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 64 HP / 252 SpA / 192 Spe
Timid Nature
- Solar Beam
- Fire Blast
- Roost
- Earthquake

The star, solar beam hits water/rock types, fire blast destroys everything else, roost to heal when needed, earthquake is there to hit Heatran hard. EV spread for a bit of bulkyness while still outspeeding max speed Mega-Garchomp.

excadrill.png

Excadrill @ Life Orb
Ability: Sand Rush
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Rapid Spin
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
- Rock Slide

Charizard is very weak to rock's damage, I needed a pokemon who could remove them easily, Excadrill is a fast and powerful spinner, the synergy with Charizard is very good because Charizard destroys annoying pokemons like Landorus-T or Rotom-W while Excadrill take care of annoying special walls like Heatran and Tyranitar. Sand rush has good synergy with Hippowdon too, everyone knows how threatening Excadrill is under the sand.

ferrothorn.png

Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 Def
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Knock Off
- Leech Seed
- Stealth Rock
- Gyro Ball

Wanted rock/knock off support, Ferrothorn is a powerful wall with leech seed and can wreck most fairies and a lot of fast pokemons thanks to Gyro ball.

gyarados.png

Gyarados @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 56 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def / 196 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Bounce
- Waterfall
- Substitute

A Water pokemon to complete my Fire/Water/Grass core, I find this set very powerful, 196 Spe make him outspeed Mega-Manectric after one dragon dance, Bounce is a great stab with 30% chance to paralyze, Waterfall is another stab with a good flinch chance, substitute allow Gyarados to setup easily against most walls, 56HP/4Def to make the clone survive more hits in conjunction with intimidate.

clefable.png

Clefable @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 172 Def / 84 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 27 Spe
- Thunder Wave
- Calm Mind
- Moonblast
- Soft-Boiled

At this point I realized I had a problem with Latias who could kill my whole team pretty easily, Clefable was the answer. Thunder wave to cripple opponents, Calm Mind to setup if the opportunity arises. Moonblast and Soft-boiled to attack/heal. 27 IVs in Speed might look strange, it makes Clefable outspeed most paralyzed threats and have a very small chance to not be 2HKOed by Ferrothorn's Gyro ball.

hippowdon.png

Hippowdon @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 144 Def / 112 SpD
Impish Nature
- Slack Off
- Toxic
- Earthquake
- Whirlwind (edit: whirlwind instead of stone edge, sry)
Hippowdon is there to wall threats that could hurt my team real bad like Talonflame, Bisharp, Terrakion... Slack off and Earthquake as always, Toxic to cripple most pokemons, especially those who try to setup on Hippowdon, Stone Edge to kill Talonflame/Charizard-Y...

So your team struggles vs. dark types especially Bisharp that just wins after an SD lategame. I would reccomend Keldeo over Gyarados. Keldeo helps vs. bulky grounds better than Gyarados. I think Charizard and Keldeo have really good synergy. Keldeo helps vs. Tyranitar for Charizard. Solor Beam blasts bulky waters for Keldeo. They can really poke holes through teams. Now I think that Tyranitar should be swapped with Hippowdon to help vs. the Lati's and can deal with Bisharp after +2 with Superpower. And Talonflame depending on speed inventment. Terrakion can be played around with the other members because if it's LO it is outsped if it Choice locked u can switch around.

Tyranitar @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stone Edge
- Pursuit
- Superpower
- Crunch

Keldeo-Resolute @ Choice Specs
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 3 Atk / 30 SpA
- Hydro Pump
- Scald
- Secret Sword
- Hidden Power [Electric]

Hey there Ryan Gosling! This team is actually really solid, however there are some spreads/sets that could be more optimized.

1. I would give Ferrothorn Spikes>Stealth Rocks (more on this later) in order to punish your opponent's switches even harder, as well as wear down some of Excadrill's common checks easier such as Garchomp. Also, since Ferrothorn is your teams best answer to Azumarill lacking Superpower, (as well as other Water-types like M-Gyara, I would definitely go with Power Whip>Knock Off so you can actually touch them. For it's EVs, a more optimal set for this team would be 252 HP / 168 Def / 88 SpD with a Relaxed nature because this gives it enough bulk to handle Physical attackers like Azumarill, opposing Excadrill etc. better while still having some SpDef investment to tank hits on the special side.
Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 168 Def / 88 SpD
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Spikes
- Leech Seed
- Gyro Ball
- Power Whip

2. On Gyarados, a more optimized EV spread is 88 HP / 220 Atk / 4 Def / 196 Spe because this allows Gyarados to set up against Ferrothorn, which would otherwise break its Subs with a Power Whip. The loss in attack doesn't affect much, since the attack it has currently still allows it to KO Scarf TTar @ +1.
Gyarados @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 88 HP / 220 Atk / 4 Def / 196 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Bounce
- Waterfall
- Substitute

3. Going back to what I said earlier about replace Stealth Rocks on Ferrothorn, I would place those Stealth Rocks on Hippowdon over Toxic. Next, in order to make the Sand last longer for Excadrill, I would do a Smooth Stone>Leftovers however, this isn't necessary if you would prefer the passive recovery. Finally, because Hippowdon is your team's best option on dealing with Talonflame (Gyarados takes too much when switching in to Brave Bird), I would go with Stone Edge>Whirlwind to give Hippo the ability to kill Talonflame, although you're still fine with Whirlwinding it out to make it come back into Rocks.
Hippowdon @ Smooth Stone / Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 144 Def / 112 SpD
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge / Whirlwind / Toxic
- Stealth Rock
- Slack Off

Overview of Changes (tl;dr):
598.png
Spikes>Stealth Rock, Power Whip>Knock Off, Set Optimization
130.png
Set optimization
450.png
Stealth Rock>Toxic, Smooth Stone>Lefties, Stone Edge>Whirlwind (You can play around with this a bit)

Other Options
If you feel like you still want a user of Knock Off, CB Azumarill with Knock Off is an option instead of Gyarados, however, Gyarados deals with certain attackers such as M-Medicham better.

Overall, really nice team, hope I helped and good luck~!
