DOU Doubles Classic IV - Playoffs (Finals) (WON BY Z STRATS)

Friends, countrymen, romans. Lend me your ears. We have arrived at the finals of the best Doubles tournament of the year, the third iteration of the Smogon Doubles OU Classic. Let me tell you. I am a massive enthusiast for all doubles formats from adv dou to sv dubers. However, only one of these formats has really managed to pull me in and motivate me to be the best version of myself within the DOU community, and that is, of course, XY Doubles OU. It is truly a heartbreaking experience for me to see a Discord ping notification on my desktop, thinking I was getting a message from my wonderful boyfriend, only to see it was Z Strats breaking the horrifying news to me: there will be NO XY Doubles played in the finals of this amazing tournament. My feelings? Hurt. My trust? Shattered. However, among these negative feelings one thing remains to be elevated in my heart and my mind: My excitement. JRL and Z Strats are 2 of the best players in the modern scene, and easily the two best players in this top cut, and we get to watch them duke it out in a winner takes all.
SM: Z Strats
Ray showed us all that he can finally adjust and not just load rain and metafini, which I was very happy to see in his semifinals match against one of the tour's strongest SM players in Toxigen. EDIT: I thought JRL lost this game but oops he won. Don't load venusaur bro plz. [end edit] I think this pick makes a ton of sense from Ray. I'm not counting JRL out, doing so would be foolish, but he is going to have to reinvent himself a little in order to surpass the 3-0 in SM thus far Z Strats
BW: JRL
As I have been preaching throughout these predictions, Z Strats is one of the more fundamentally solid players around, which has proven true so far, but we're about to see him paired against the BW cup winner, and if that wasn't convincing enough: one of these players brought a Scizor last round and the other brought a Genesect. I have not seen a BW match this year where I felt like JRL was completely out of it. Ray will be one of the tougher opponents for him, surely, but I'm going with Spain for this one.
SS: Z Strats
The Vishinator himself, since SCL I Z Strats has been at the forefront of SS metagame development, taking his superior piloting ability and combining it with the ability to craft some amazing teams, and therefore he earns my vote for SS. JRL is no slouch, being by far one of the tier's strongest competitors throughout the entire generation, but working with Ray in SCL has just made me such an appreciator for his talent in this tier.
Shame on you both for not picking XY.

Classic is always fun to play. It was nice finding myself genuinely enjoying playing tiers I thought I didn't like as much anymore like bw and oras, and I'm glad I was able to get the win. S/o all my friends, and S/o Sp_ndas since a lot of teams I've used throughout the run have been stolen from there.
