SPECIFIC RULES
  • This is a standard SWSH Doubles LC Tournament. All matches must be played in "[Gen 8] Doubles LC".
  • This tournament will be in this format.
  • In the situation where both players end the game with no Pokémon left, a tie is declared.
  • All rounds will be First to 2 Wins. You may switch teams in between battles of the same set.
  • Matches are to be played on Pokémon Showdown! or SmogTours.
Clauses:
  • Species Clause: Limit one of each Pokémon
  • OHKO Clause: OHKO moves are banned
  • Evasion Moves Clause: Evasion moves are banned
  • Gravity Sleep Clause: The combination of sleep-inducing moves with imperfect accuracy and Gravity or Gigantamax Orbeetle are banned
  • HP Percentage Mod: HP is shown in percentages
  • Dynamax Clause: You cannot dynamax
  • Swagger Clause: Swagger is banned
  • Sleep Clause Mod: Limit one foe put to sleep

General Tournament Rules:

  • Identity: I expect many battles to be completed under alts. This can be bad for tournament security, and thus I will make this clear: If I hear any whispers of identity theft (battling as someone you are not) or proxy battling (helping someone else battle through pm) I will not be pleased and I will take severe actions.
  • Timer Clause: As for taking long between moves, if your opponent asks you to hurry up, please oblige. If you are doing a damage calc for a key turn that is one thing, but prolonging every move is suspicious and annoying. Don't do it. Furthermore, Battle Timeout is a rule for a reason. If you run out of time, you lose, simple as that. It does not matter what your opponent says. Do not battle if you think you will have to leave mid battle, and instead reschedule for a better time.
  • Disconnections: Finally, in the case of a disconnect, the decision is in the hands of the player who did not disconnect. The options are: redo the battle move for move, redo the battle with the same teams but different moves, or redo the battle with completely different teams. If the battle was without a doubt over, they may also take the win. Any suspicion that a disconnect was committed on purpose to redo a match may be appealed to me, and if I feel this happened there will be severe consequences, don't do it.
This is a Type B tournament in the LC Doubles circuit. Doubles LC resource thread for resources. Doubles LC damage calculator for damage calcs.

Predictions

#1 Acehunter1 v. #12 Akaru Kokuyo (60-40) - We start off with a banger game, ace has quite a big amount of knowledge on the tier and that's why i'm going with him, however akaru is as good of a player as ace so i couldn't count him out just yet. I'm excited to see what gets used in this one because i'm expecting non conventional stuff for sure.
#2 Neblina v. #11 JRL (40-60) - Neblina, same as Akaru has been killing it with these Gasai squads, the big question is if these squads can take a set over more solidified users on the tier as JRL is. Giving him the edge for the experience but i could see an upset happening.
#3 Paraplegic v. #10 John1240 (70-30) - Unlike the other two, this one is a bit more one sided if you ask me. Paraplegic [new doubles lc enthusiastic] has been killing it lately as shown with his undefeated performance during the quallifying rounds, beating big opponents like Actuarily. John started the tour really well with a 3-0, however, he kicked his feet into a stone and ended 3-2 barely reaching playoffs. I think he's going to have a big amount of work to do if he wants to get the upset.
#4 GasaiYunoSan v. #9 Toadow (55-45) - Continuing with more great games; on one hand we have Gasai, who, although she is the winner of the winter seasonal, she comes from making a questionable performance in the lpl. On the other hand we have Toadow who despite being a great player, he can have a bit of an issue with his builds as they are out of meta. So i believe this can go any way tbh but Gasai has been more active and i honestly think she can get it done with one of her crazy ideas.
#5 Actuarily v. #8 txitxas (80-20) - This is the most one sided set of all if you ask me. Txitxas didnt make me get surprised or interested by his plays or builds yet and his rival is in my opinion the strongest doubles lc player we have rn. I find it very difficult for txitxas to make an upset here knowing how solid actu's build and playing skill are.
#6 DuGuo v. #7 hybone (49-51) - YO CHINESE CIVIL WAR LET'S GOO. I'm so excited for this one. DuGuo has impressed me doing a very good run killing some great players along the way; hybone tho is currently on his second far run in a doubles lc tournament so i'm actually starting to rate him really high ngl. It can go either way but i'm favouring hybone because i believe duguo's teams were being given by hybone.
