Congratulations to talkingtree for winning this week. His team and description will be added to the Hall of Fame. Moving on to this week's round...

1544985685191.png

Mega-Scizor will be this round's building focus. Boasting a sizable 150 attack stat, Mega-Scizor it able to threaten the popular island guardians. It sits at a low speed tier, but bullet punch allows Mega-Zor to get away without being as fast its opponents. Scizor most often runs a swords dance set that can become very threatening once opposing fire types are removed. Unfortunately, fire types and fire coverage are incredibly common, so scizor often requires a lot of support from its teammates to set up safely. Scizor can also act as a bulky pivot with moves like roost and uturn, and can even provide speed control with tailwind. How you choose to support this mon is up to you. Show off your builds below!

Submission deadline is Thursday, December 20th at 11:59 pm EST!

Hi, This is my team for this week.
So the first and most obvious thing I though of is add Fini. It seems like the best partner for Mega-Scizor because (1) can remove Psychic terrain on Switch-in so I can bullet Punch (2) prevents Burns with Mist Terrain (3) defeats Fire type mons (4) very good match up against mons that Scizor doesn't match up well against such as Zygarde.

Next I choose to do Trick Room. I think Trick Room suits Scizor and CM Fini better than Tailwind because I can maximize their bulk and because there speed isnt great to start with.
My first setter is Diancie because she adds another Fire resist and is just a great TR mon.
Then Porygon2 because its such a reliable setter with great bulk. Also it adds cover that I didnt already have.

Now I need a strong check to Bulky waters. Lurantis is great for that and it does well versus Kartana. Really good mon.

Finally Incineroar to add another Kartana check and to help set TR with Fake-out

edit: this team got me much further on ladder than I ever have before

Its a team. M-Scizor should be able to be bulky tw setter. I put enough speed to snatch berries from normal fini and thought on how I can build a team that enjoys sciz over kart (note swarm over light metal... just in case). First, we all know how well band zyg does with good speed control. Zyg threatens a lot of steel and fire types for scizor and enjoys an ice resistance while sciz enjoys an electric immunity. Thousand waves bc I love trapping. This fini set is designed for icy wind control and nature's madness is nice. Lando: threatens lando and incin, provides a mandetory intimidate, and a nice u-turn. T-tar: provides a deterrent against most tr setters, blends in nicely with scizor's typing, and really can threaten most teams along with zyg. Torn: is not as hot as he was a while ago but is still a very good mon, provides another tailwind, and helps fite off a lot of the intimidates ofc. Overall I have liked this team so far. I would put taunt on fini, sciz, or torn for ladder bc.... ladder. First time I did one of these lol.

So, the Pokémon being used on this team are pretty much standard for me, but, for the sake of the community, their sets have been changed. MScizor has Bug Bite to eat berries and replenish health, and Bullet Punch for priority sweeping. It’s last two moves are Tailwind, for speed control, and Detect, which is used to keep it safe. For the last slot, Protect and Roost is fine, but using the latter move means you have to be more careful when playing against Fire Pokémon as they can easily eliminate MScizor. If you’re feeling brave, you could also use Sword Dance (which goes well with Technician boosted Bullet Punch). Amoonguss has Giga Drain, providing recovery, and Sludge Bomb. Rage Powder is to allow its partners to set-up if they need to. Spore is Spore, and it works great if your opponent uses TR against you. Just make sure you don’t summon Tapu Fini (since it has Misty Terrain) while Amoonguss is in play. Regenerator and Black Sludge, coupled with Giga Drain, provides enough recovery to keep Amoonguss around for a very long time.

Tapu Fini has Muddy Water and Moonblast for great STAB coverage, and accuracy/SPA drops are always welcome. Calm Mind to make Tapu Fini even more of a threat, and Protect for longevity. Tapu Fini wields Wiki Berry for recovery. Zapdos has Thunderbolt and Hidden Power Ice for Pokémon like Tapu Fini and Lando-T respectively. Tailwind is for speed control, and Roost is for recovery. Zygarde has Dragon Tail for phazing and Thousand Arrows For spread damage and grounding flying/levitating foes. Rock Slide is mainly for Zard-Y, but it comes in handy when dealing with Pokémon who aren’t weak against Ground, but weak against Rock. Extreme Speed is to get rid of weakened foes (just like like Bullet Punch). Groundium-Z is so Zygarde isn’t walled by spread preventing moves. Incineroar is the usual Incineroar that everybody uses, so there’s no need to explain it.

Mega Scizor appreciates Stealth Rock support, which can knock various Pokemon into Bullet Punch KO range, so I started with a Landorus-T and Mew lead to ensure Stealth Rock can get set early on in most matchups.

1545008868503.png

Standard-ish bulky Landorus-T set, but I gave it a Red Card for a new twist. In a lot of games Red Card won't do too much more than annoy your opponent for a turn, but it's actually nice to have in your back pocket as a phasing technique against runaway sweepers like Weakness Policy Diancie at +2.

Landorus-T's main goal is just to set Stealth Rocks, but it can Earth Power stuff as it needs to. Gave it Protect > another coverage move because I really wanted Lando-T to be reliable at getting the rocks up, but that's just a preference thing.

E: also gave Landorus-T 72 Spe EVs to outpace Mega Metagross after an Icy Wind.

1545009235031.png

Mew's primary role is to be a fast Fake Out lead to help ensure Lando-T gets rocks up on Turn 1. However, beyond that Mew's options are wide open on this team. Super Fang is super threatening in the early game; chipping all targets for 50% with no regard for a type chart is no joke, and Scizor appreciates all the softened up targets in the late game. Icy Wind is self explanatory, but really great on Mew and I'm surprised more people don't run this. Incinerate is another really neat tech that really throws a wrench in teams that over-abuse pinch berries, and it also hits Kartana / Ferrothorn for some decent chip damage. Changed Incinerate to Energy Ball to deal with Gastrodon. Incinerate's still cool but more of a "nice to have" than anything Mew misses in most matches. Also moved 12 EVs to SpA so Energy Ball is always a 2HKO.

1545012382519.png

The next thing that came to my mind was that this team needs to be as hostile as possible to Fire-types, since Mega Scizor really hates them. That's where Araquanid comes in. It can stand up to pretty much every Fire-type in the meta besides Volcanion, and the utility it offers is fantastic as well. It also offers some resilience against Trick Room builds, which I wanted to make sure I was prepared for.

1545012555431.png

Tapu Koko is here mainly because I still needed a Tapu and I wanted sleep immunity. I went with a Modest Electrium set, which is very powerful and makes quick work of bulky waters that otherwise annoy this team a bit. Taunt for a bit of anti-Trick Room and anti-BS support, since Mew can't always be on the battlefield.

1545012701415.png

Incineroar does Incineroar things, but also has Roar as a phasing technique and hard answer to Trick Room. Having two Fake Out users is also just great for keeping momentum up during a match.

1545012764208.png

And finally, we have Scizor! It's a completely standard set, but the rest of the team compliments it well and, in turn, Mega Scizor offers the team a late-game wincon and a defense against some potent threats like Diancie.

Overall, I'm really happy with how this team turned out and like I said I won 3/4 games of a roomtour with it so I feel pretty good about how this game plays against different matchups.

Enjoy!

E: Changed Araquanid's Wide Guard to Toxic, and Mew's Incinerate to Energy Ball, after realizing how weak the team was to Gastrodon. Also gave Landorus-T 72 Spe EVs to outpace Mega Metagross after an Icy Wind.

EDIT: Changed Snarl to Close Combat on Zeraora after realizing how bad the Incineroar matchup was.
Mega Scizor is a strong attacker with Swords Dance and Bug Bite, breaking through some very bulky Pokemon while eating their berries. Diancie's bulk combined with Diamond Storm make it great for beating Fire- types, which Scizor obviously doesn't like; Diancie also isn't affected by Intimidate, which Scizor is prone to, and it does well against every Intimidate Pokemon other than Landorus-T. Zeraora gives the team Fake Out and the ability to pivot, while also giving the team an Electric- immunity. Gastrodon was added to give the team a better Rain matchup and another Trick Room attacker, and adds another Electric- immunity. At this point I figured "with 2 Electric- immunities, I may as well use Discharge because why not", leading to Tapu Koko being added. I went with Fairium Z because I wanted a move that could hit Kyurem-B hard, and it doesn't seem too bad. Latias has Hidden Power [Fire] to OHKO non-Occa Kartana (don't know if Occa is a thing) and non-Yache Landorus-T. Shadow Ball is there to hit Psychic- types which trouble this team and would expect not to be hit hard by Latias, namely Mega Metagross, Mega Gardevoir, and Tapu Lele, and I really want Expert Belt for Latias to deal as much damage as possible to Mega Metagross and Zygarde.

An alternate set for Scizor would be Feint > Swords Dance, as this allows you to break Protect and Wide Guard for Diancie's Diamond Storms at the cost of the threatening Attack boost from Swords Dance.

idk anything about the Gastrodon spread as I stole it from smogon, but I do know what the spreads for Latias (EVd to OHKO non-Yache Landorus-T), Zeraora (EVd to survive Kingdra Hydro Vortex in Rain while staying faster than Mega Manectric), Diancie (EVd to OHKO +1 Kommo-o), and Scizor (outspeeds uninvested Tapu Fini and OHKOs non-bulky Tapu Lele with Bullet Punch) do, each of which I stole from smogon.
