Welcome to the new* Doubles Ubers, now updated for USUM! Unlike past game releases, the Dubers meta really hasn't changed much this time around, but maybe you'll use our existing tools to make something new?

Doubles Ubers is a 6v6 doubles format with no Pokemon banned, including Mega Rayquaza. Otherwise, it mirrors most clauses from Doubles OU, such as Species and Evasion. You can play Dubers on Pokemon Showdown, usually through the Doubles Ubers ladder. You can also ask for challenges in the Smogon Doubles room for battles with experienced players. Feel free to discuss dubers in this thread, the Smogon Doubles room, or the #dubers channel on the Doubles Discord.

Viability Rankings:
Though the meta is heavily centralized around a few key threats, these rankings are certainly not set in stone. If you think something deserves to rise or fall, feel free to make a nomination. Try to support your nominations with explanations and replays if you have them. Rankings within tiers are alphabetical.

>>Tier 1<<
Pokemon that dominate a large portion of the metagame. They are either quite powerful or offer great team support, and can fit on almost any team. You can't really go wrong by using these Pokemon.
Primal Groudon
Primal Kyogre
Magearna
Mega Rayquaza
Xerneas

>>Tier 2<<
Pokemon that are generally strong and can easily be placed on a variety of teams, but don't have the same level of prowess as the threats in Tier 1.
Amoonguss
Arceus
Arceus-Ghost
Mega Kangaskhan
Lunala
Yveltal

>>Tier 3<<
Pokemon which have broad applications on a variety of teams but are simply less effective than the Pokemon in the higher tiers. This also includes Pokemon which, while good, only fit on a specific team style or require heavy support but are still stronger than Pokemon in the tiers below.
Arceus-Ground
Bronzong
Ho-Oh
Hoopa-U
Jirachi
Mew
Mewtwo
Necrozma-Dusk-Mane
Tapu Lele

>>Tier 4<<
Pokemon that can only serve a specific role not needed by most teams, but can still perform excellently.
Arceus-Fairy
Arceus-Steel
Cresselia
Deoxys-Attack
Kyurem-White
Mega Gengar
Hitmontop
Marshadow

figured i'd post some of my teams. idk if they are sample quality but they are good n10siteams™

http://pokepast.es/9285dbfa5b95e957 - Primals Gengar Koko

http://pokepast.es/7b0ccc00b8b151d7 - Psyspam Shift Gear Magearna

http://pokepast.es/b0d12f62137ab9e8 - Primals Trick Room

http://pokepast.es/80e69b1050b3d29f - Double Fairy Mew setup

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

noms:

Xerneas 1->2: Ladder meta is super unhealthy for it rn. Lots of team comps that look like groudon/duskmane or mag/gengar + roar mons on ladder. theres also a lot of transform. i like mag more than this right now tbh.

Snorlax UR->4: BD under trick room is still a huge threat. its surely not the dominant force it was in dou but you will find that with jirachi or bronzong support this pokemon can get kills and make good usage of tr turns.

Steelceus 4->UR: Just use mag or jirachi, this doesn't offer enough over those.

Tapu Fini 4->UR: I know i was a proponent of this being good but I don't think it is now. Misty terrain isn't good enough to justify just sitting there doing nothing, there are good replacements for this pokemon

Alright guys so I figured Id better dump some of my teams as well.

Teams which I commonly use

Arceus Ghost and Double Primals+ Magearna Shift gear, Scarf Rayquaza with Murkrow : http://pokepast.es/78bdeb138d58a897
Additional info : Magearna is bulky enough to withstand a 252+ Attack P blades from a groudon and with shiftgear fast enough to outspeed Rayquaza. Also this team has a scarf Rayquaza which outspeeds even most geomanced Xereneas that havent got much speed investment. Magearna can ONLY outspeed Ray when used shiftgear at least once ok lol. I made a mistake in the description of magearna in pokepaste. For more information check the pokepaste link.

Semi Trickroom+Tailwind team, Scarf Rayquaza with super defense and special defense bulky Magearna : http://pokepast.es/e21d322a37429386
Also there is a variation of this team but with Special attack cause I just got sick of P blade misses XD!
http://pokepast.es/6c7533ac58304b34

Feel free to make the mons in the above team min speed if you wish and remove Tailwind altogether.
Also I have a replay of me at 1900 with all mons min speed XD!!
https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen7doublesubers-650679084

Semi Trickroom + Super Fast Yveltel + Life Orb Ray: http://pokepast.es/6e996fdc06d59e14
Taunt is also an option but I find knock off to be better and tailwind is essential so snarl could be taken off for taunt I guess if you guys prefer.

Given below are some extra add on spreads for Yveltel if you dont guys dont need max speed and attack but fragile Yveltel with Z move and also for Arceus Ghost which you can use with this team since Lunala is out as well as a Ghostium Z Magearna in case you run bulky Yveltel with Aguav berry(you can decrease the bulk and make it more offensive if you like XD!)

Here are some decent spreads I have for some mons :

Extras for this team :
Yveltal @ Aguav Berry
Ability: Dark Aura
EVs: 252 HP / 80 Atk / 176 Spe
Impish Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Snarl
- Tailwind
- Foul Play
- Taunt/Roost/Knock Off

And we also have a super bulky version of Yveltel XD!

Yveltal @ Aguav Berry
Ability: Dark Aura
EVs: 252 HP / 80 Atk / 80 Def / 84 SpD / 12 Spe
Impish Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Snarl
- Tailwind
- Foul Play
- Taunt/Roost/Knock Off

Also here is a decent min speed Ghostium Z Magearna for you guys if you decide to run Yveltel with Aguav berry if you wish.
Magearna @ Ghostium Z
Ability: Soul-Heart
EVs: 252 HP / 72 Def / 112 SpA / 72 SpD
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Dazzling Gleam
- Shadow Ball
- Protect
- Trick Room
(You can decrease the bulk and make it more offensive if you like XD!)

And here is a kind of speedy version but only defense invested Magearna
Magearna @ Ghostium Z
Ability: Soul-Heart
EVs: 252 HP / 72 Def / 120 SpA / 64 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Dazzling Gleam
- Shadow Ball
- Protect
- Shift Gear

NOTE : Mageara should always be able to live a P blades from a max attack groudon which is why I always invest in defense.
Here are the calcs :
252+ Atk Groudon-Primal Precipice Blades vs. 252 HP / 72+ Def Magearna: 312-368 (85.7 - 101%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO

Seeing as we no longer have Lunala in the above team we can go ahead and use Arceus Ghost if we want XD! Here is a decent spread for him. Now unlike for Normal type Arceus Arceus Ghost but be at least faster than 329. It should at least be able to outspeed Xereneas and Yvetel.

Arceus-Ghost @ Ghostium Z
Ability: Multitype
EVs: 148 HP / 252 Atk / 12 Def / 96 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Extreme Speed
- Shadow Force
- Tailwind

You can put out Tailwind for Safeguard if needed to deal with spore spammers.

Here is a more of a speedy variation of the above slow teams. Gdon isnt min speed anymore and Lunala is max speed.
http://pokepast.es/f4ba0d30fa7511de

I use these teams sometimes!

Triple birds mon variation(Bulky Yvetel, bulky Ho OH and Scarf Rayquaza)
Additional info : Super bulky min speed Magearna as a decent T room check.Ho-oh also has firium Z Sacred Fire which can do some serious damage if used in Harsh sunlight XD!
http://pokepast.es/20cae578983746ad

Double Primals+Shift Gear Magearna+Max speed Lunala, Scarf Ray and super bulky Arceus Ground
http://pokepast.es/d09a582c739ba9ef
Additional info : Magearna can ONLY outspeed Ray when used shiftgear at least once. I made a mistake in the description of magearna in pokepaste.
Here is another version of Arceus Ground with lele in for Kyogre as an E speed spam protection.
http://pokepast.es/e7909d75612de0ad

If you guys ask me why in most of my teams some of my mons arent max speed here is my answer.
You might ask me why I didnt put Arceus, Magearna and Groudon Primal as max speed. Well personally I just like bulky mons and the closest I will ever get to speed teams instead of T room teams is to invest a certain amount of speed but not max speed for some of my mons. Lunala and Rayquaza however are max speed for me in some teams. And when I do this I have tailwind+ maybe Amoongus as a redirection to use tailwind or even trick room if needed cause Lunala can host both moves.

And for you guys who dont want to use the same old mons over and over here is a special team I made for fun but which actually got me to 1790 and can win games quite easily if your opponent doesnt play it right and if you use it properly.
Absolute T room team with lv1 smeargle+Zekrom+Kyogre Primal and Arceus Dark along with Min speed Magearna+ Scarf Ray.
http://pokepast.es/76020ab55b2c2bc1

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen7doublesubers-753090011
https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen7doublesubers-753096870

End note: A lot of you guys may have noticed that I only change 1-2 or in some cases 3 mons and you may ask me why. The reason is the best mons that are there in a well balanced team are Groudon, Lunala, Arceus, Magearna, Rayquaza and perhaps Kyogre. However I normally use 5 of these mons and my 6th mon is normally a sleep spammer, a prankster, T room check or something else XD! I sometimes use unorthodox strats and use different mons like the bird team and the absolute T room team I made for fun.
Here are some unorthodox what I have used so far as my 6th mon in my standard team :
Meowstic(Prankster with screen setups, fake out, Safe guard+ swagger combo)
Sableye(Prankster with moves like Will-O-Wisp, Gravity, Quash, Fake out, Taunt)
Murkrow(Prankster with moves like Tailwind, Haze, Featherdance, taunt/quash)
Whimsicott(Prankster with moves like FakeTears, Charm, Tailwind,Taunt/Encore)
Kyogre(Scald, Waterspout, Ice Beam, Protect)[Scald>Origin Pulse because its more reliable and less likely to miss]
Amoongus(Spore, Clear smog,Rage power, Protect)

Or I use a more common mon like,
Necrozma Duskmane,
Necrozma Ultra,
Necrozma Dawn Wing
Yvetel,
Xereneas,
Lele,
Fini,
etc...

I topped out at 1950 but I cant find that replay so here is one of me at 1907. This however was a few months back.
https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen7doublesubers-650679084

Also I went up to 1837 with semi Trick room + Yvetel instead of Amoongus as my 6th mon. This was a few weeks back https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen7doublesubers-737816388

Well thats it guys enjoy and have fun with these teams!!!

Dont have many teams right now but i should post this one

http://pokepast.es/a1dc3e4f27d3cd9c

nom:

Hoopa-U -> 4: I dont really see a reason to use this in the meta, most of the time u need sash on Hoopa and it’s outclassed by other tr setters like Magearna, Arceus, Lunala, Mew.

E: peaked 1815 on ladder with this team

Hi I have a nom, Ghostceus 2 -> 3

I really don't understand why you would use anything other than normal arceus (e speed is ultra broken btw). With ghostceus, you're sacrificing stab on e speed + potential boosting item for the ability to I guess completely invalidate kangaskhan, hitting steels harder (and in that same vein a strong "nuke?" with ghost z), and immunity to other e speeds but like that's not enough to put it on the same level as regular arceus. You only click like e speed anyways and only click ghost z to ohko something like mage/bulky primals/xern. It's not as splashable as anything in T2 and there are times where it can perform really well, but that's pretty specific, which I find fitting T3 a lot better.

Mewtwo should be in tier 2... the usage rates speak for themselves, it won 4 out of 5 matches, hits super hard, decent defensive typing, outspeeds marsh and can avoid the OHKO from shadow sneak and can OHKO it back with psystrike... 106/90/90 defenses are respectable, can run a lot of different items.

Doubles Ubers Speed Tiers

In doing EV work for the Doubles Ubers tour, I inevitably needed to do Speed calculations to reference a Pokemon's relative speed compared to the metagame. I finally decided to draft up some speed tiers to facilitate the process, and I figured it'd be nice to share it publicly since we currently don't have any for DUbers. I also make note of how to reach important HP numbers against Kangaskhan's Seismic Toss and Victini's Final Gambit. You can view the spreadsheet here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1GF31JFvcEzjGOV8UOiKrvPWjVMLdGIL4r3TxUrxwSnM/edit#gid=0.

Thanks to Level 51 for the general structure of the Speed tiers!

so this is the only team i'm gonna do something like this but mega gengar is absolutely crazy. being able to trap pdon and then snipe it with hp water is amazing with xerneas and that was the idea behind how i built this team. my thought was that dubers has so many mons that can just straight up sweep your team so oftentimes teams only have like one to two answers to big threats and by trapping and getting rid of them with gengar, it opens the way for arceus/xern to sweep. only BIG BALLERS can use this team so play aggressive with it (especially gengar like double switching and whatnot) cause if your opp sets up with anything, this team kinda falls. also amoonguss/pogre is a problem lol so get rid of them fast (also explains the weird pogre set cause i need thunder to weaken other pogres and ice beam to hit amoonguss)

Sorry for the necrobump, but there are some Dubers Pokemon that are not listed on the viability rankings. Maybe that's because they're unviable, but I believe all Dubers Pokemon should be listed even if they end up in a Tier 5 or whatever. No wonder people keep telling me to lurk more...

Take a look at the post below. This post was from the original Doubles Ubers thread.

Yes, there is an update in the works, but I don't think we'll be including "trash but banned from dou" as part of the rankings. I know singles ubers does this, but I don't think it works well when we're modeling everything else from the dou vr. The vr isn't supposed to be comprehensive, it's more so a threatlist of the best and most common mons in the tier. The whole idea behind using numbers instead of letters was to remove the connotation of "c is bad" so that even the mons at the bottom of the vr are still perfectly usable. Putting everything else in a tier 5 just wouldn't be accurate because some of the unranked mons like lugia and kyurem-w could be arguably good on the right team, but definitely not bugceus or mmx. Additionally, this implies that every mon in tier 5 is still better than every unranked mon not banned from dubers.

Also, singles only has like an extra dozen mons in their bottom tier so it's not a big deal to be completionist, but our vr would literally double in size. Dubers is a small tier, so it should have a small vr.
