This thread is meant to be a place for people to post DPP Cores that they've found success with, and get feedback for said cores. As everyone knows, Cores are a major part of teambuilding, as they are quite literally the core of the team. Effective offensive cores seek to dismantle an opposing team with mons that can break each other's counters, while defensive cores seek to wall mons that threaten their partners.
Example Offensive Core:
So yeah, post fun DPP Cores here.
Archive:
BandNape+ScarfTar
Skarmory+Swampert
Swampert @ Leftovers
EVs: 248 HP / 216 Def / 44 SDef
Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Stealth Rock
- Roar
- Ice Beam
- Earthquake
Skarmory @ Leftovers
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SDef / 4 Spd
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Spikes
- Roost
- Whirlwind
- Brave Bird
Lightweight defensive core with good type synergy and hazard setting capabilities. This core can check a substantial number of top threats, though it has trouble with waters and things like Heatran and Zapdos with HP Grass.
Porygon-Z+BandTar
Example Offensive Core:
Zapdos+Breloom.
In a nutshell, Zapdos threatens a lot of the metagame, but it hates dealing with Ground types and Tyranitar. Breloom steps in here and owns them with Seed Bomb. Pretty basic and effective core I've seen on a lot of teams. Also very customisable as long as Zap is offensive and Loom has Seed Bomb
Preferred sets:
Zapdos @ Choice Specs
EVs: 252 SpA/4 SpD/252 Spd
Timid Nature
-Thunderbolt
-Heat Wave
-Hidden Power [Ice]
-U-Turn
Breloom @ Toxic Orb
EVs: 12 HP/252 Atk/244 SpD
Adamant Nature
-Substitute
-Seed Bomb
-Spore
-Focus Punch

BandNape+ScarfTar
Tyranitar @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Crunch
- Pursuit
- Stone Edge
- Superpower
Infernape @ Choice Band
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Flare Blitz
- Close Combat
- U-turn
- Mach Punch
This is a pretty basic core, with Nape being able to spam U-turn early game vs. stuff it can threaten and Tyranitar being able to trap the Starmie switch-in. ScarfTar can also immediately threaten other switch-ins like Gyara and Nite although it can't check/counter them well and it can only do so if they are unboosted.

Porygon-Z+BandTar
Specs-Z + BandTar
Porygon-Z is an incredible wallbreaker (remember, his job is to break down stuff, not sweep) and makes a great supporter to offensive and (some) balanced teams. Its speed is only above average, so don't focus on supporting it too much (if you build a team around it, you're doing it wrong). After a Download boost, the only true switch-in for this thing is Blissey, everyone should know that. The rest are eaten alive by Tri-Attack or the coverage moves. However, you need to be aware of how much even Blissey takes from Tri-Attack. When switching in on Tri-Attack, the standard 252HP spread takes a minimum of around 71.4% damage before she can react. So around 65% factoring Leftovers. Sandstorm negates Leftovers recovery and Stealth Rock adds on another 12.5%. Basically, Blissey can't switch in with more than around 20% damage. Netting a chance to put Blissey down with Porygon-Z essentially puts the opponent in a position to choose what they want to die (unless you predict like a champ). What's needed is a partner to provide ways to limit the opponent's options. Tyranitar does perfectly. Provides Sandstorm, STAB Pursuit to trap Blissey, huge Attack (which is just dangerous anyway), and the perfect way to bait high Defense switch-ins to get your Download boost. Best to pair the two with another Special attacker or some other Blissey lure to start the chain. Of course, if there's no Blissey, than both can have some fun regardless, breaking down stuff with Special and Physical attacks.
Very good against stall/balanced teams. Against offense, get Porygon-Z on any slower target it can kill or force out, especially if it gets the SpA boost. Make sure to get Rocks up first, then you're ready to go, even at early points of the game.
