DPP (OU)

First team in awhile since august when my shoddybattle died on me. So I haven't really been following the scene since then.

Azelf_Pepsi_by_Phoelion.png

Azelf @ Choice Scarf
Timid; 252 Spd/252 SpA/ 4 Hp
-Stealth Rock
-Trick
-Fire Blast
-Psychic

Cross between being suicidal and a trickster 0.o Trick allows it to cripple other leads and is unexpecteed as most would try to taunt or set up stealth rock themselves allowing it to cause a switch. Maybe even getting focus sash from an aerodactyl or other azelfs. Fire blast and Psychic provide decent type coverage and power.

Gyarados @ Life Orb
Adamant; 252 Atk/ 252 Spe/ 4 Hp
-Dragon Dance
-Stone Edge
-Waterfall
-Earthquake

Late game sweeper and clean up. Has advantages over other sweepers as very few pokemon completely stop it. It's not weak against priority attacks as some pokemon are and it's decent bulk/ typing lets it have easy set ups.

latias__by_SweetMiaArt.jpg

Latias @ Leftovers
Calm; 252 HP / 116 Def / 112 SpD / 28 Spe
-Thunder Wave
-Reflect
-Wish
-Dragon Pulse

I cannot figure out who provides the best support/counters. Vaporeon vs Latias. In the end, I choose latias as it's bulk, speed and typing makes it better suited for tanking attacks. Provides nice support for the team.

Infernape__s_Swords_Dance_by_raizy.jpg

Infernape @ Life Orb
Naive; 64 Atk / 252 SpA / 192 Spe
-Nasty Plot
-Grass Knot
-Close Combat
-Flamethrower

Mixed Infernape is just too good. After nasty plot everything will fall prey to it from grass knot or flamethrower. Only downside is that it can only outspeed other pokemon before boosts and gets beaten by speeder pokemon. But still it's good.

Porygon2_for_contest_by_keona_luna.png

Porygon 2 @ Leftovers
Trace: Bold; 252 Hp/216 Def/40 SpA
-Recover
-Toxic
-Ice Beam
-Thunderbolt

Provides excellent coverage on late game sweepers and other nuiscances. Only thing I hate would be having to gamble against a salamence that could be either mixed which would destory this or DD which P2 would kill.

Gooo___Heracross_by_unicornstrike.jpg

Heracross @ Choice Band
Guts: Adamant; 96 HP / 252 Atk / 160 Spe
-Night Slash
-Megahorn
-Close Combat
-Stone Edge

Typical choice banded, status absorbing, powerhouse bug.

The main focus of this team was to go for countering pokemon instead of pure offence. Plus, I think it would be more effective against other teams that would be trick room or weather oriented than a purely offensive team.

For porygon 2, he is walled by other walls in general, to counter this, use discharge > thunderbolt, 30% paralyze chance so he can cripple fast sweepers, and toxic > thunderwave.

Toxic is better to use than thunderwave, Seeing as p-2 is a wall, you'd do better to whittle down other walls that switch into it via toxic. other than that a pretty solid team.

i see the toxic change, Wow fail on my part ._.

I like the pictures a lot.

You should replace Azelf with Uxie, who is a lot bulkier and lures more Taunt users:

Uxie @ Choice Scarf
Nature: Bold
EVs: 252 HP / 40 Def / 216 Spe
- Trick
- Stealth Rock
- U-turn
- Thunderwave

This set is godly. The EVs can be changed, just always max HP and put a significant amount in speed. You can also replace Thunderwave with Toxic or Yawn but I think Heracross will greatly benefit from facing slow opponents. Let's see how this guy faces other leads:

-Metagross- you can Trick it if you want, and force it to switch after it sets up SR, or you can just set up yourself and then switch to something immune to Explosion.

-Azelf- you'll get Taunted, but it'll get a Choice Scarf and be forced to switch. Then you can U-turn to a counter to the Pokemon they brought in. If you are not Taunted, you can paralyze the switch in or set up your own rocks.

-Jirachi- most of the time they will trick you, allowing you to set up on them, or U-turn to a counter while they are locked into Trick.

-Aerodactyl- same as Azelf pretty much, only you don't have to worry about it exploding. Stone Edge won't do much damage to ya.

-Swampert- trick it a Choice Scarf while it sets up Rocks. Then you can do what you please. Same goes for Hippowdon aswell =)

You kind of weak to SpecsJolt. In this case, I'd make Gyarados Jolly and give it 180 Spe EVs and put the rest in HP. This allows you to outspeed Jolteon and hit it hard with EQ. Your team is pretty frail too, so I don't think you are going to be passing many Wishes to things like Infernape and Heracross. Put Recover instead to better take special attacks.

Other than that, most of your weaknesses seem covered. Although LO Gengar may give you trouble, it can't OHKO Latias, so make sure it gets in unscathed. Good luck =)
