retains give more room for managers in terms of choice and risk taking, but more importantly I think they help for brand to develop, for exemple when I think of tyrants I think of Christo cause he was there several times, retains helps turning a virtual team into a solid brand

Basically this, All good teams have mascots basically, The only reason they weren't in it last year is because team expansion. As others have said.

Strongly agree, allow retains and as vertigo mentioned, 3 total in any combination. I recommend following the format ADVPL is doing it personally, it seems quite intuitive.

One thing I want to highlight is consistency within DPPPL itself. The most recent editions of DPPPL IV & III states that each team can purchase one manager for 15k and honoring what's traditionally working matters a lot to me to establish consistency within DPP specifically. By reopening this thread, its clear we are wanting to establish legacy and consistency. This makes me question if this change is warranted right now due to 2 manager selfbuys being exploitable. With 2 manager duos, you could get some powerhouse pairings overall and a change like this gives a weird controversial balancing. DPP lower tiers are primarily supported through challenge/tournament only and on an overview note these communities operate a little differently (especially in size) compared to OU. What I'm trying to say is: that two prominent lower tier players team up and both goes for a way lower price than warranted = broken / unfair because of the players that have established themselves in the tier going for a price they shouldn't have gone for vs the people that are just getting into the tier. With the abundance of tournaments I play, I'd say getting a game for a past-gen lower tier is also significantly more difficult. I fear changing this factor is potentially exploitable, making me believe 1 manager has more pros in being a great middleground to nullify concerns and actions on price-fixing.

I don't intend to self buy btw

I don't really think that's a particularly valid concern if the manager selfbuys are priced correctly, so as long as we price them adequately it should be fine.
Leaving it upto subjectivity will always feel more iffy than settling for a fixed price, agree w roxie's post

Thanks for all the feedback provided. The retain policy has been implemented for DPPPL V along with manager signups ending on Tuesday 11:00 PM GMT-4. This will give any final opportunities for last-minute pairings to signup following us ironing out our policy for this edition. I hope everyone has a great tour!

"Each team will be able to self-purchase one manager for 15k or both for 40k auction credits. Teams can retain up to 3 players. The maximum amount of allowed self-purchased and retained players is three in total. Managers must inform the tournament hosts 24 hours of any final self-purchases or retains before the auction date. Total money for teams is 140,000 credits."
