Dragalge @ Black Sludge
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 252 HP / 124 SpA / 132 Spe
Modest Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Sludge Bomb
- Flip Turn
- Toxic Spikes

Not all algae is useless. In fact, this bit of algae with an awesome typing in Dragon / Poison works nicely as both a wallbreaker and a Toxic Spikes setter for balance and bulky offense teams, and it's able to check common threats in NU like Rotom-C, Sylveon, and Vileplume. Another highlight for Dragalge is the gift of pivoting. With Dragalge's new move in Flip Turn this generation, it gets to pivot on Steel-types that give it trouble like Bronzong and Escavalier to safely bring in a teammate, like Arcanine or Choice Band Sirfetch'd, to properly deal with and pressure them. Similarly, to those Steel-types, Ground-types like specially defensive Gastrodon and Golurk also beat Dragalge one-on-one; Grass-type partners like Rotom-C and Decidueye will send them running.

I would mention a target or two of Focus Blast — think copper — in that sentence.

rest looks fine although mentioning salazzle as a good partner seems sorta fringe to me as it’s hard to fit both poison types on the same team, so maybe change out that little bit for another example

there's no reason to mention Focus Blast in this because it's not in the set; remove any mention of it.

there's too much explanation of basic things in this that really don't need to be included; the EV spread and Adaptability are basic enough. this should be focusing on Dragalge's function within the metagame

Not all algae is useless. In fact, this bit of algae with an awesome typing in Dragon / Poison works nicely as both a wallbreaker (RC) and a Toxic Spikes setter, and defensive switch-in for balanced or bulky offensive teams, being and it's able to check common threats in NU like Rotom-C, Sylveon, and Vileplume. Another highlight for Dragalge is the gift of pivoting. With Dragalge's new move in Flip Turn being a new move to Dragalge this generation, it gets to pivot on Steel-types that give it trouble like Bronzong and Escavalier to safely bring in a teammate, (AC) like Arcanine or Choice Band Sirfetch'd, (AC) to properly deal with and pressure them. Since Dragalge does have trouble dealing with such Steel-types, partners like Arcanine and Choice Band Sirfetch'd can take advantage of Dragalge's Flip Turn and come in safely to offensively pressure them. Similarly to those Steel-types, Ground-types like specially defensive Gastrodon and Golurk also check Dragalge in a 1v1 situation. beat Dragalge one-on-one; Grass-type partners like Rotom-C and Decidueye will send them running.
