[OVERVIEW]

Dragapult makes excellent use of its great coverage and its high Speed to be one of the most effective Dynamax attackers in the metagame. Clear Body allows it to be one of the most effective attackers available, since it is immune to stat drops from Intimidate and various Max Moves. Thanks to Max Phantasm dropping the foes' Defense, it becomes increasingly more potent the longer it is left unchecked. It can also support its teammates with Max Airstream, making it a reliable source of speed control. Additionally, its typing and coverage options make it a solid check to metagame mainstays such as Venusaur, Charizard, and Kyogre. It is, however, fairly reliant on Dynamax to establish itself as a threat, leaving it vulnerable to Zacian-C's Behemoth Blade. Because both Max Wyrmwind and Max Phantasm trigger Defiant, it has a difficult time breaking through Thundurus.

[SET]
name: Offensive
move 1: Dragon Darts
move 2: Phantom Force
move 3: Fly
move 4: Protect / Dragon Dance / Dive
item: Life Orb
ability: Clear Body
nature: Jolly / Adamant
evs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

* Phantom Force is a strong Ghost-type STAB move that's nice for dodging opposing Max Moves thanks to its turn of invulnerability. Max Phantasm is excellent for stacking Defense drops, and can be taken advantage of by partners like Zacian-C and Urshifu-S.

* Dragon Darts is a reliable spread move that can quickly transform into a powerful Max Wyrmwind, which is useful for dropping the Attack of prominent physical attackers like Groudon, Kartana, and Landorus-T. Its smart targeting mechanic also means it is much harder to avoid by just using Protect or switching to a Fairy-type to absorb the hit.

* Fly is used for Max Airstream, which is Dragapult's most reliable speed control method. At +1 Speed, it can outspeed many common Pokémon such as Venusaur in sun and Kyogre in Tailwind.

* Dive is great for hitting Incineroar and Max Geyser can reset rain for Kyogre to freely use Water Spout. Dragon Dance can turn Dragapult into an even more threatening sweeper, but can be hard to pull off at times.

* A Jolly nature allows Dragapult to outrun Adamant Zacian-C and Tapu Koko. An Adamant nature can be used to drastically increase its damage output, however.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Dragapult can use a bevy of other items such as Weakness Policy, Focus Sash, or Safety Goggles. However, these items mean Dragapult loses out on some of the immediate offensive pressure that Life Orb gives which makes it a threat in the first place. A support set with Surf can be used alongside G-Max Coalossal to activate its Steam Engine and Weakness Policy, but this also takes away from Dragapult's offensive capabilities

* Phantom Force provides access to a strong Ghost-type STAB move that's nice for dodging opposing Max Moves thanks to its turn of invulnerability. Max Phantasm is excellent for stacking Defense drops, and can be taken advantage of by partners like Zacian-C and Urshifu. just for clarity sake I feel we should clarify which Urshifu forme we are referring to here. Even though we know a reader may not and I always would like to be as concise as possible :)

* Dragon Darts is a reliable spread move that can quickly transform into a powerful Max Wyrmwind, which is useful for dropping the Attack of prominent physical attackers like Groudon, Kartana, and Landorus-T.

* Fly is used for Max Airstream, which is Dragapult's most reliable speed control method. At +1 Speed, it can outspeed many common Pokemon in Tailwind such as Venusaur and Kyogre.

* Protect lets Dragapult stay safe from incoming attacks, which is especially helpful when Dynamaxed as it will often be the center of attention. just a suggestion but maybe a mention on how Draga should be cautious when facing Urshifu-S especially after its Dynamax has expired(?) Dive is great for hitting Incineroar and resetting rain for Kyogre to freely use Water Spout. Dragon Dance can turn Dragapult into an even more threatening sweeper, but can be hard to pull off at times. perhaps mention of Indeedee-F and or Amoongus for redirection support so that Dragapult can safely use Dragon Dance.

Dragapult makes excellent use of Clear Body and its high Speed to be one of the most effective Dynamax attackers in the metagame. Thanks to Max Phantasm dropping the foes' Defense, it becomes increasingly more potent the longer it is left unchecked. (Consider adding here a more detailed discussion on it's speed tier, something along the lines of "Without any Speed boosts, Dragapult naturally outspeeds the majority of the metagame, only outsped by targets such as Zacian-C, Calyrex-S, and Regieleki." Mentioning it's speed here would also flow nicely into the next sentence discussing speed control). * Phantom Force provides access to a strong physical Ghost-type STAB move that's nice for dodging opposing Max Moves thanks to its turn of invulnerability. (added "physical" to highlight that it this is pretty much the physical Ghost move that Dragapult should use. I would also consider adding a statement discussing how Phantom Force can break through protection and remove it to emphasize the utility that Phantom Force has). Max Phantasm is excellent for stacking Defense drops, and can be taken advantage of by partners like Zacian-C and Urshifu.

* Dragon Darts is a reliable spread move that can quickly transform into a powerful Max Wyrmwind, which is useful for dropping the Attack of prominent physical attackers like Groudon, Kartana, and Landorus-T. (Consider mentioning that Dragon Darts will both attack a single target if the other pokemon would not be hit by it, a great niche to note that might not be apparent )

* Fly is used for Max Airstream, which is Dragapult's most reliable speed control method. At +1 Speed, it can outspeed many common Pokemon in sun or Tailwind such as Venusaur and Kyogre. (added "sun or" since Venusaur is usually paired with sun setters to boost its speed).

* Protect lets Dragapult stay safe from incoming attacks, which is especially helpful when Dynamaxed as it will often be the center of attention. Dive is great for hitting Incineroar and resetting rain for Kyogre to freely use Water Spout. Dragon Dance can turn Dragapult into an even more threatening sweeper, but can be hard to pull off at times.

(clarified that Life Orb gives it the offensive pressure. Also consider mentioning Adamant as another nature option to run over Jolly, giving a power tradeoff over the loss of speed Jolly gives. From the speed targets mentioned earlier, at +1 Dragapult can still outspeed Timid Venusaur in sun (by one point), but not Timid Kyogre).

Dragapult makes excellent use of Clear Body (you can write a few words about how clear body affects matchups, the fact that with its ghost type and clear body, Dragapult can basically ignore Incineroar is worth mentioning) and its high Speed to be one of the most effective Dynamax attackers in the metagame. (consider adding Adamant as an alternative nature, the power boost is enough to justify its use even tough you can't outspeed max speed base 90's)

Ready for what?
Also thank you for the compliments

All I am going to say is that you should probably mention the difference in natures somewhere in the set, but that's a fairly easy fix and I don't anticipate it to be a problem at all so QC 1/2!

raineko-QC.gif

Thoughts on a OO mention of a supportive set with Surf? Not entirely certain that coalossal support is worth mentioning but I think Dragapults supportive movepool and ability to outspeed spectrier gives it a small niche worth noting. If opposed, not a huge deal for me, 2/2 QC
