Dragonite (Sub Punch)

Well, sorry if it came off as me attacking you -- I'm just very protective of my QC team, because they put in a shitton of work here, and I don't want to see any of it being discredited. Anyways, I'm glad you aren't taking our rejections too harsly. I personally don't think your set is bad, we are just very strict about what sets we allow to be promoted on-site. Don't let it dissuade you from sharing what you believe to be great sets in the future.

Welcome to Smogon :P

That's a lot better :P. I just wasn't sure about the proper protocol.

The first set didn't have survivability, and the second set of changes mediated from the original point and just became outclassed. Not Smogon material, but I'll keep playing around with it to figure out what's best instead of just settling for "good enough" like I previously had.

And if you're serious about trying again, I've been fooling around with Electrode as a lead in OU. Outpaces Azelf and Aero, just don't know how practical that is. But this isn't the topic for that. Anyways, I'll fool around with that, any more constructive criticism is greatly appreciated.

Is there a reason you are using a mixed set? Tbh Dragonite with SubPunch is better of using a complete physical moveset. If a mixed moveset is what you're looking for you are indeed better of using MixNite. But with a total physical moveset, the non-used SAtk EV's can be used to make Dragonite a bit bulkier. A spread of 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Sdef is a good enough option then. Dragon Claw or an elemental punch make fine replacements for Draco Meteor. Roost can still be an option in the last slot to keep Dragonite healthy but from experience I found out that Thunder Wave is a decent option as well. Of course Leftovers is the prefered item on a moveset with Substitute. And of course since this is completely physical, you should use an Adamant nature.

If it were up to me, I'd run a pure physical set with Substitute/Focus Punch/Outrage/Roost. This way you don't have to split EVs, and with a Substitute up, you don't have to worry about locking yourself into Outrage as much.

$0.02

If it's a purely physical subpunch set, Breloom outclasses it 100 % imo. 100 % reliable sleep move + a free sub (dnite has trouble getting one) as well as poison heal which means lack of roost isn't to bad. seed bomb is a good STAB to go with fighting so I really think that it outclasses dnite if it goes all physical.

Actually, all Breloom has is Spore. Fighting + Dragon is PERFECT coverage, while Fighting + Grass is resisted by Celebi, Gengar, Dragonite, etc. Dragonite is also just as strong, along with being faster, bulkier, and having access to a recovery move in Roost.

Spore takes out one pokemon for the whole match and gives you a free sub. It resists stealth rocks and has STAB ON FOCUS PUNCH. It doesn't need to get locked in outrage which fuckin sucks and dragon claw doesn't hit hard at all

Yes of course, Breloom has this and Dragonite has that. All I'm saying is that Dragonite has its advantages which you can't deny no matter how much you write in caps. I've never even used this set, all I'm claiming is that it has its advantages (see: unresisted coverage, bulkier, faster), and has an Outrage that will hurt nearly as bad as Breloom's Focus Punch. And yes, locking yourself into Outrage does "fuckin suck," but you have insurance with Substitute and with Salamence banned to Ubers, steel types are no longer as common as they used to be.

EDIT: And I'm pretty sure if Breloom could gaurentee taking out a Pokemon for the entire match, it would be just as Uber as Palkia.

This set receives its third rejection with this post. Philip has already pointed out where this set fails to become on-site material, and I support what he stated.

I look forward to seeing more contributions from you in the near future. Locking and moving.
