[Pros]
- Gets a relatively safe boost with Dragon Dance due to Multiscale and even more so with Heavy Duty Boots
- Alright defensive typing + Multiscale lets it check threats like :blaziken:, :cinderace: and :urshifu: [Rapid Strike]
- Can hit almost everything with strong neutral hits and boosted Extreme Speed can clean up offensive teams well.
- Gets a surprising array of utility moves like Thunder Wave, Defog, Haze and Heal Bell to name a few.
- Ungodly mixed coverage.

[Cons]
- Too slow even after a boost which leaves it prone to being revenge killed by threats like :dragapult: and scarfed Pokemon with coverage to hit it like Choice Scarf :hydreigon:
- Physical Walls like :clefable: and :slowbro: aren't kind to it, being able to tank even a few weak boosted hits like +1 Wingbeat and threaten it back with Moonblast and Ice Beam, or a burn respectively. In the worst case scenario a trade where both :dragonite: and a defensive check goes down occurs.
- Lacks power with a Jolly nature and is too slow with an Adamant nature
- Prone to multihit moves like Rock Blast and Icicle Spear with one example of a Pokemon carrying a move like this in the current meta being :tyranitar:
- 4MSS and overall the current meta just isn't very kind to it.

[Potential Movesets]

Standard DD:

Dragonite @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Multiscale
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant / Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Earthquake
- Fire Punch / Extreme Speed
- Dual Wingbeat

Okay well, this set frankly isn't as good as it used to be because of 4MSS and so it almost mandates Magnezone support if you're not running Fire Punch. Dragon STAB is frankly not very good because of Fairy types unfortunately but this is as good as it gets now. Dragon Dance juices up Dragonite's attack and speed, letting it break past Clefable and Corviknight with Dual Wingbeat and Fire Punch respectively. Jolly is preferred as you outpace positive speed natured Dragapult at +1 and everything from that range but Adamant lets Dragonite break past Clefable more reliably. Boots is the preferred item to preserve Multiscale but if you're wild you could run Lum Berry or something. Earthquake nails Heatran and Toxapex for super effective damage but beware of burns from Lava Plume and Scald, respectively.

Utility:

Dragonite @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Multiscale
EVs: 252 HP / 240 Def / 16 Spe
Impish Nature
- Thunder Wave / Toxic
- Dual Wingbeat / Earthquake
- Roost
- Heal Bell / Doesn't matter

Basically a utility counter set for threats like Blaziken and Cinderace while also making use of the great utility moves Dragonite has like Heal Bell / Defog / Haze / Thunder Wave etc.. Earthquake is an alternative option to hit the aforementioned threats as well as also nailing Heatran while Toxic annoys things like Zygarde. You could opt going for mixed defensive to better handle Landorus-I and whatnot. 16 Speed EVs lets Dragonite outspeed neutral natured base 50s with 252 speed investment like Azumarill and in a pinch cripple it with Thunder Wave or take it out with Wingbeat. The last slot is a filler choice depending on what your team needs with a few options being Defog or Haze.

Other options:

I suppose an AoA set with Choice Specs to make use of Dragonite's great special coverage to nail typical roadblocks like Clefable, Slowbro and Corviknight or a mixed attacking set to have best of both worlds could work but there are much better mixed attackers in the current meta (which won't last) like Pheromosa, Genesect and Landorus-I to name a few but none of them besides Genesect has identical coverage shared with Dragonite. Choice Band Dragonite is also an option, having a strong Extreme Speed to revenge kill Pheromosa, Regieleki, Naganadel after some chip and Lando-I as well as having good breaking power right off the bat.

I would add a CB set with Outrage/ESpeed/EQ/Filler. Dragonite has the strongest ESpeed in OU, only beaten out by Download boosted Genesect. It’s a nice set to rkill Phero, weakened Naga, Lando-I, and Regieleki while having decent bulk

Choice Band. is hella viable especially as a lead. Outrage / Dual Wingbeat / Extremespeed / Fire Punch is the route. Run Adamant maximum attack. I’ve even taken some Speed out (as low as 222 total) and put into HP to further abuse Multi Scale (lives Naganadel LO Draco Meteor). Spread is 152 HP / 252 Atk / 104 Spe
