move 4: Dragon Pulse / Energy Ball

nature: Modest

[SET COMMENTS]
Drampa's sky-high Special Attack when backed up by Choice Specs turns it into one of RU's deadliest wallbreakers, able to 2HKO virtually every Pokemon in the tier. Flamethrower is a natural complement to Drampa's STAB attacks, hitting Steel-types like Copperajah and Steelix incredibly hard. Dragon Pulse is taken for the primary fourth move, as it gives Drampa a spammable Dragon-type STAB move without the drawbacks of Draco Meteor. Alternatively, Energy Ball gives Drampa a reliable way of beating bulky Water-types, like Vaporeon as well as specially defensive Gastrodon and Jellicent. Sap Sipper is chosen to give Drampa a useful immunity to Grass-type attacks that gives it more switch-in opportunities and lets it support its teammates by blocking Vileplume's Strength Sap. 208 Speed EVs let Drampa outspeed maximum Speed Copperajah, allowing Drampa to torch it with Flamethrower before it can attack.

Drampa is easily forced out by Fighting-types, so Fairy- and Poisons that can handle them such as Silvally-Fairy, Aromatisse, Vileplume, and Weezing are helpful teammates. These Pokemon also appreciate Drampa's ability to check Charizard and Ninetales. Setup teammates like Virizion, Nasty Plot Alolan Raichu, and Nasty Plot Salazzle can take advantage of the holes Drampa punches in the opposing team. Mudsdale is a great partner for Drampa, as it can check Fighting-types well while setting up Stealth Rock to assist Drampa's wallbreaking efforts. In return, Drampa can safely take Grass- and Water-type attacks from Pokemon like Decidueye, Rotom-C, and Vaporeon. Steel-type teammates like Copperajah and Silvally-Steel can cover Drampa's Fairy and Ice weaknesses while chipping Steel-types with their Fire-type coverage moves. Aromatisse and Vaporeon can also pass Wish to Drampa to give it more longevity.

[SET]
name: Bulky Roost
move 1: Dragon Pulse
move 2: Flamethrower
move 3: Hyper Voice / Calm Mind
move 4: Roost
item: Chople Berry
ability: Sap Sipper
nature: Modest
evs: 220 HP / 252 SpA / 36 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Drampa's excellent defensive typing allows it to prey on common Ghost-, Grass-, and Fire-type Pokemon like Decidueye, Rotom-C, Charizard, and Ninetales to become a bulky wallbreaker that excels in shredding balanced teams. Flamethrower complements Dragon Pulse well, hitting the Steel-types like Silvally-Steel and Steelix that would otherwise wall this set. Hyper Voice is the primary option in the third slot to threaten Fairy-types like Aromatisse and Silvally-Fairy that wouldn't mind Flamethrower. However, Calm Mind can be used to take advantage of free turns Drampa gets against the many Pokemon that can't damage it much, such as Vaporeon, Decidueye, and Vileplume, to blow huge holes in teams. Roost gives Drampa a way to offset residual damage, as well as allowing it to switch into resisted attacks much more comfortably. Chople Berry is used to be able to take one hit from a Fighting-type, like Bewear or Passimian, and heavily damage it in return. Sap Sipper is used to not take chip damage when coming in on predicted Grass-type moves. 36 Speed EVs allow Drampa to outspeed uninvested Rhydon and Dhelmise, as well as Gastrodon. Draco Meteor can be used over Dragon Pulse for a stronger Dragon-type STAB, but the Special Attack drops are counter-intuitive to the nature of the set.

Drampa is completely walled by Snorlax, so Fighting-types like Passimian and Bewear that can deal with it are nice to have. Fairy-types like Silvally-Fairy and Aromatisse also pose problems, so Steel-types like Copperajah, Steelix, and Silvally-Steel are good teammates. Fighting-types threaten to OHKO Drampa with their STAB attacks, so a teammate like Mudsdale can assist Drampa in handling them. Water-type teammates like Silvally-Water, Vaporeon, and Jellicent appreciate Drampa's ability to switch into Electric-types consistently and can aid it in defending against Ice-types.Powerful Grass- and Bug-type teammates like Virizion, Rotom-Mow, and Frosmoth appreciate Drampa's ability to handle Fire-types like Charizard and Ninetales.

Hi Mavis, here's my QC check.

I don't discuss it in there but I would like for you to consider Fire Blast > Flamethrower, or at least mentioned. Fire Blast's power increase is significant, although the loss of accuracy is unfortunate.

252+ SpA Choice Specs Drampa Fire Blast vs. 172 HP / 252 SpD Copperajah: 404-476 (94.3 - 111.2%) -- 68.8% chance to OHKO
252+ SpA Choice Specs Drampa Flamethrower vs. 172 HP / 252 SpD Copperajah: 330-390 (77.1 - 91.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

This leads me to believe that Fire Blast should at least be mentioned; you can decide where you want to slash it relative to Flamethrower.

Flamethrower is a natural compliment to Drampa's STAB attacks, hitting Steel-types like Copperajah and Steelix incredibly hard. Dragon Pulse is taken for the primary fourth move, as it gives Drampa a spammable Dragon-type STAB move without the drawbacks of Draco Meteor. Alternatively, Toxic can be used to catch Aromatisse; or Roost, which allows Drampa to recover HP on a forced switch. [Aromatisse always runs Aromatherapy, so I don't get this example. The only switch-in that doesn't have Aromatherapy/Heal Bell is Jellicent; Toxic could be mentioned, i guess, but Tbolt works better. As for Roost, Vaporeon's entrance to the tier means we finally have more than one usable wish passer. Rather than run choice-move Roost, I would emphasize the Wish-passers as great teammates and have this powerful af mon run 4 atks]. Alternatively, Thunderbolt allows Drampa to reliably 2HKO Vaporeon and Jellicent, specially-bulky Water-types that might otherwise be able to switch in and heal off Drampa's attacks. Sap Sipper is chosen as the ability of choice to block Vileplume's Strength Sap as well as getting a safe switch by coming in on a predicted Grass-type move [awkward writing] to give Drampa a useful immunity to Grass-type attacks that gives it more switch-in opportunities and lets it support its teammates by blocking Vileplume's Strength Sap. 208 Speed EVs outspeed maximum Speed Copperajah, allowing Drampa to torch it with Flamethrower before Copperajah can attack.

Drampa is easily forced out by Fighting-types, so Fairy- and Poison-type teammates that can handle them, such as Silvally-Fairy, Aromatisse, Vileplume, and Weezing can handle them are helpful teammates. These Pokemon also appreciate Drampa's ability to check Charizard and Ninetales. Setup teammates like Virizion, Nasty Plot Alolan Raichu, and Nasty Plot Salazzle can take advantage of the holes Drampa punches in the opposing team. In particular, Slurpuff greatly appreciates Drampa's ability to block the recovery move of its most common counter, Vileplume; Slurpuff is also able to set up on the Choice-locked Fighting-type attacks often used against Drampa. [drampa is an amazing partner for puff, so I figure it is worth a mention]. Mudsdale is a great partner for Drampa, as it can check Fighting-types well while setting up Stealth Rock to assist Drampa's wallbreaking efforts. In return, Drampa can safely take Grass- and Water-type attacks. freely switch in against the Grass- and Water-type Pokemon that threaten Mudsdale, such as Decidueye, Rotom-Mow, and Vaporeon, and fire off a Specs-boosted attack. [since drampa is offensive it's less about taking those attacks than it is about using those Pokemon as opportunities to switch in and attack]. Steel-type teammates like Escavalier [rip] Copperajah and Silvally-Steel can cover Drampa's Fairy and Ice weaknesses while also switching into Snorlax, which walls Drampa. Silvally-Steel can also get Drampa into battle easily with a U-turn. [I dont like U-turn silv-steel that much; instead, i think you should mention how their fire-type coverage moves can wear down steels to make it easier for each other to spam draco / get kos with work up. i'll let u write this].

[add a mention of wish passers Aroma/Vaporeon ^]

Drampa's excellent defensive typing [MENTION WHAT IT CHECKS WITH ITS TYPING UP HERE! Notable Pokemon it checks/counters: counters Rotom-Mow, Rotom, Decidueye, Dhelmise, Vikavolt, Silv-Ghost, bulky waters, Charizard; checks Vileplume, Rillaboom, Ninetales] is utilized as a bulky wallbreaker that excels in shredding balanced teams. Flamethrower complements Dragon Pulse well, hitting the Steel-types like Silvally-Steel and Steelix, that would otherwise wall this set. Hyper Voice is the primary option in the third slot to threaten Fairy-types like Aromatisse and Silvally-Fairy that wouldn't mind Flamethrower. However, Calm Mind can be used to take advantage of free turns Drampa gets against the many Pokemon that can't damage it much, such as Rotom [this volts out; add bulky waters / Vaporeon here], Decidueye, and Vileplume, to blow huge holes in teams. Roost rounds out the set, letting Drampa freely switch into resisted attacks for the entire game. giving Drampa a way to offset Life Orb recoil and residual damage. [add explanation of draco plate / lefties: leftovers = more bulk, draco plate = more dragon-type attack power while not compromising its great bulk. im fine with these items in either order.] Sap Sipper is used to not take chip damage when coming in on predicted Grass-type moves. 28 Speed EVs allows Drampa to outspeed Gastrodon [it only takes 8 more EVs to outspeed min speed Rhydon/gurdurr/dhelm, which might be worth it even if don is never min speed; 8 evs prob makes no bulk difference. u can say "gastrodon and uninvested base 40s, although Rhydon/dhelmise often run speed"]. Draco Meteor can be used over Dragon Pulse for a stronger Dragon STAB, but the Special Attack drops are counter-intuitive to the nature of the set.

Drampa is completely walled by Snorlax if not running Calm Mind, so Fighting-types like Passimian and Bewear can deal with it. Fairy-types like Silvally-Fairy and Aromatisse also pose problems, so Steel-types like Copperajah, Steelix, and Silvally-Steel are good teammates. Fighting-types threaten to OHKO Drampa with their STAB attacks, so a teammate like Mudsdale or Xatu can assist Drampa in handling them. Drampa is able to wall many Ghost-types, like Rotom, Decidueye, and Dhelmise, so Psychic-type teammates like Alolan Raichu and the aforementioned Xatu can fall back on it. [Ghost-types aren't really a big deal in ru, tbh, at least not when compared to Grass-types and ELectric-types. Mention teammates that appreciate Drampa dealing with those; Water-types love that it can switch into electric-types and (non-virizion) grass-types, Ground-types love that it can switch into non-viriz grasses] Alolan Raichu also baits in the aforementioned Ghost-types to give Drampa free entry with Volt Switch. (see above) Strong Grass- and Bug-type teammates like Virizion, Rotom-Mow, and Frosmoth appreciate Drampa's ability to handle Fire-types like Charizard and Ninetales.

Implement this and then QC 1/2.

Roost rounds out the set, giving Drampa a way to offset Life Orb recoil and residual damage, as well as allow it to switch into resisted attacks much more comfortably.

Mavis remove the mention of LO recoil and add something about why chople is the item for that set [makes it very hard to ohko, lets u surprise and take down fighters which then makes roost drampa very hard to eliminate]

gj, Milak. Great job minimizing subjective changes, but there are still some that I left out in the check, which we talked about in Disc anw.
