Drapion is one of the two Dark/Poison pokemon that available for poison monotype. With drapion having a dark typing, it becomes immune to psychic moves, and isn't affected by prankster moves which allows it to be a nice switch-in on predicted prankster and psychic moves. Knock Off is used to get rid of the opposing pokemon's item. Scarf Mold Breaker Excadrill can be pressuring with earthquake but drapion can survive an earthquake and get rid of its choice scarf. Salazzle now outspeeds and kills excadrill. Taunt helps with mons such as galarian-corsola and mandibuzz by forcing them to switch-out or attack on the next turn. Toxic spikes can be very useful and provides hazards that can be effective in every matchup except for steel and flying. Finally, the last move can vary. Substitute can be used to play around with pokemon using psychic attacks like a scarf gardevoir. Poison Fang is stab that has a 50% chance of badly poisoning a pokemon. Toxic Spikes baits mandibuzz and you are able to Taunt so t-spikes doesn't go away, which allows you to get a free poison fang or a substitute depending on your health. Brick Break is useful for getting rid of light screens, reflects, and aurora veils. Which is generally coming from grimmsnarl, a rotom-form, or vanilluxe.

Some of the teammates that goes well with drapion are toxapex, galarian-weezing, gengar, salazzle, vileplume, and toxtricity. Toxapex would make a nice teammate helping with the effects of toxic spikes with baneful bunker. Galarian-Weezing would also be a nice addition because it has Levitate(Ground Immunity) along with defog, its stab move strange stream which helps with dragon and dark matchups, and will-o-wisp. Gengar has High Speed and Special Attack which allows it to be an offensive check to Psychic-types and a great revenge killer. Salazzle threatens mons like ferrothorn and steel as a whole since it has no fire immunity. Toxtricity can be used as a wallbreaker and can be effective in mirroring match-ups. Vileplume can also be used as a teammate with a collection of sets varying from Giga Drain/Growth/Strength Sap/Sludge Bomb/Sleep Powder/Leech Seed.
