Hey there, this will be my first thread on smog forum D:
I've been always looking at RMT but have never submitted one. I always played Standard Ou and, well, it's too standard. So i started going in DW, where I created this team. I peaked... well, i peaked around 20th position before the ladder reset. Now it's too early to have a peak to show.
Changes will be in italic.

Team in details
Gliscor (F) @ Flying Gem
Trait: Sand Veil
EVs: 48 HP / 252 Atk / 208 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Substitute
- Acrobatics
- Earthquake
- Swords Dance
This is listed as first but I never lead with her. Not sure about the EV spread, but I can just say it outspeeds common ninetales that usually want to revenge kill Exca (running 303 speed) and having even HP number to get to 4 subs hoping for hax. It helps me check the strong sand sweepers that enjoy coming in my Tyranitar and threaten my team. It can even sweep by its own if it grabs a sand veil hax and gets at +2. It also threatens one of the few pokes I couldn''t touch with the team before: Amoonguss. The moveset is the standard Acrobat.
Keldeo @ Leftovers
Trait: Justified
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Secret Sword
- Surf
- Substitute
Keldeo usually enters against water attacks and starts CalmMinding. If under rain, i can just spam surf to see things go down. I chose Leftovers in conjunction with substitute because Lum Berry didn't help me so much. It can weaken evey wall, Secret Sword 1HKOes Blissey/Chansey and maims Gastro, which is always a good thing. It can also 2HKO ferrothorn, depending on the evs. True, I get walled by Jellicent and Lati@s, but i can check them easily with other teammates.
Breloom (M) @ Shed Shell
Trait: Technician
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Spore
- Swords Dance
- Mach Punch
- Bullet Seed
One of the most annoying pokes in 4th gen, now this mushroom is the most terrifying priority user of the game. Same atk than Scizor, better coverage and access to 100% sleep move. What else to say? It helps me check Exca, Terra, any fight weak mon and any wall. Also, can check to a lesser extent Garchomps that want to sub until in range of Salac Berry. I find myself using Spore lesser than I'd have to. Everybody knows he has spore, so they switch in something they want to get to sleep and switch the counter in after Spore is used. It also works as lurer to Chandelure. With Shed Shell, I can change Breloom and bring in Tyranitar, that traps him with Pursuit. The moveset is pretty standard.
Tyranitar (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 228 SDef / 28 Spd
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Pursuit
- Roar (thanks to Jimbon for the suggestion)
- Superpower
- Stealth Rock
Tyranitar is the most defensive mon of the team. It doesn't come in very often. I just use it to counter rain teams and to pursuit the rare psychic/ghost pokes. Not sure about the EV distribution, but i just wanted to outspeed enemy CB and standard Tyranitars and nab a kill with superpower. Roar phazes some sweepers and especially Volcarona. I usually use it when Garchomp first switches in me the first time, as it tends to use substitute Stealth Rock is a must on every team and it is the only one with a free slot.
Excadrill (F) @ Air Balloon
Trait: Sand Rush
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Rapid Spin
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
The best offensive spinner of the game. I prefer Air Balloon over Leftovers or Life Orb so that I can check better the aforementioned Exca, Garchomp or Landorus In sand, it outspeeds quite everything and has no problem grabbing a SD boost, becoming threatening. The only things I need to avoid are random Scald burns and priority users and i can have a clean sweep.
Genesect @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Download
EVs: 4 SDef / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Hasty Nature (+Spd, -Def)
- U-turn
- Thunderbolt
- Flamethrower
- Ice Beam
It's the one I lead with when i see a bad matchup for Raikou. Standard moves and evs. If I see a Chandelure in Team Preview, I just spam U-turn to not give it chances to set-up. It revenge kills many pokes or just helps me get momentum. It can even sweep late game if it can grab a Spatk boost. I use a Hasty nature just to give enemy Genesects an Atk boost.

Building Process:
I decided from the beginning to start with an offensive team
I wanted to start with my fav poke. I remembered a 4th gen lead attacker that could help me. So i needed something that could pair well by checking the walls that raikou couldn't touch. I wanted HP ice on Raikou, so here came Celebi.
This duo could also easily check rain and sand teams, except for some scarf Landorus and Garchomp/Exca. So i used Gliscor to better tank hits from the above threats
With a huge weakness to ice, i picked Jirachi, that could even wall some dragons and threaten them with paralysis. Also, at the beginning it was my StealthRocker.
So i needed a scarfer, that could kill revenge kill. I decided to fit in Gyarados, that could be another check to sand teams with its moxie boosted waterfalls. Also, another resistance to fightning is always well accepted
Lastly, i needed a pursuiter and priority user. Yeah, Scizor...
After that i saw a huge weakness to fire, especially nape and shadowtag chandy.
I changed quite every team member, starting to get rid of Celebi for Breloom, changing the set of jirachi... well, revolution: I wanted a better pursuiter that could switch in every Chandelure's attack and i picked Tyranitar; a faster scarfer and I chose Genesect; with genesect and Breloom, i didn't need Gliscor anymore and started using Keldeo. The last to change was Jirachi. I was reluctant to change that set, one of the best lurers i've ever used. But without leftovers (i played shed shell) it was too hardpressed and couldn't break walls. Also, i needed a spinner against the rare stalls
After this test, i saw a huge weakness to strong earthquakes (exca+garchomp cores especially) and decided to change my leader Raikou to a Gliscor
