Dusclops's Ghost-typing and high Eviolite-boosted defenses let it serve an important role on both stall and hazard stacking teams, preventing hazards from being removed by Rapid Spin while keeping threatening attackers like Falinks and Dubwool in check. However, Dusclops suffers from a severe lack of offensive presence, which can leave it open to exploitation by strong attackers and Toxic-immune Pokemon, especially those carrying Knock Off. Toxic pressures opposing walls and puts attackers that would seek to exploit Dusclops, such as Leafeon and Beheeyem, on a timer. Seismic Toss is Dusclops's primary method of dealing damage, and is used over Night Shade to avoid being walled by Type: Null. Pressure is the best ability for Dusclops, as it enables it to stall out the PP of opposing walls. A specially defensive set is an option to improve Dusclops's matchup with special attackers like Mr. Rime and Glaceon at the cost of worsening its match up with Falinks and other physical attackers like Stonjourner.
As one of Dusclops's primary functions is to block Rapid Spin, entry hazard setters like Stonjourner, Roselia, Pincurchin, and Mareanie are natural partners. Roselia has particularly good synergy with Dusclops, as it takes the special attacks aimed at Dusclops, while Dusclops switches into physical hits for it in return. Fighting-weak Pokemon like Lapras and Type: Null greatly appreciate Dusclops switching into Fighting-type attacks for them. Fighting-types themselves also make for good partners, as they can dispose of Pawniard, one of the biggest threats to Dusclops. Throh and Hitmontop are solid teammates in this regard. Special walls like Type: Null and the aforementioned Roselia are good teammates for Dusclops, as they can patch Dusclops's weakness to strong special attacks, while Dusclops patches their weakness to physical attacks.
