Dusclops is one of the bulkiest walls in the metagame. This bulk allows Dusclops to check several Pokémon in one slot. While Dusclops does not shine because of its ability, Pressure allows it to better stall in some match-ups in more defensive teams. However, Dusclops doesn't sport any useful resistances to complement its fantastic bulk; in fact, its weakness to Dark exacerbates Dusclops's heavy reliance on Eviolite to maintain its bulk, which is compounded by the prevalence of Knock Off in NFE. Due to its Ghost-type, Dusclops plays a significant role within the metagame as the best spinblocker together with Drakloak, which normally fits in more offensive teams. Nevertheless, its longevity relying on either Rest and Sleep Talk or Pain Split isn't optimal and its lack of offensive stand due to Night Shade and Will-O-Wisp, can make Dusclops a bit too passive in some match-ups.

Dusclops is a defensive staple within the NFE metagame with its great bulk and Ghost-typing Ghost typing to block Rapid Spin from Quaxwell. Checks and Counters

**Knock-OffKnock Off users**: Dusclops requires needs to hold Eviolite to really make its bulk shine. This means that Knock-Off Knock Off users, including Tinkatuff, Monferno, and Thwackey, are always going to be scary.

**Scraggy**: Scraggy threatens Dusclops by using it as a setup fodder with either Double Dance or Bulk Up sets and having access to with STAB Knock Off. Scraggy normally runs Shed Skin ability, which means that do it does not mind getting burnt burned by Dusclops at long-term in the long term.

**Special Normal-types**: Although (RC) they don't necessarily enjoy the burn damage, both Girafarig and Dusparce Dunsparce can switch against into Night Shade or even Will-O-Wisp and then set up against Dusclops.

**Drakloak**: While Dusclops has decent special bulk, Drakloak's Ghost-type STAB moves such as Shadow Ball and Hex are scary. The latter can even have a boost due to Dusclops being aslept due to asleep from Rest.
