Eazy Peazy OU Team

Backstory

I wanted a team I could transfer over to Wifi if it worked on Shoddy

Swampert : I based my team around a lead, maybe not the best idea but that’s how it started. Without any knowledge of the OU metagame I picked Swampert for only having one weakness, solid defensive stats and he could operate on two levels for me: SR and phasing

Blissey was picked for her synergy with swampert. CB Scizor was a great early addition for his physical dominance, and a great switch in for the threats swampert and blissey have. Gliscor was meant for taunting. Infernape for attack coverage, and Zapdos because I didn’t have a speacial attacker, and I had also just caught a bold one in HG. I experimented with this team for a while, this being my first first team. Obviously getting used to the OU metagame I found a lot of wholes so I made a few needed adjustments.

I needed
-Bulky water type, because no one was resistant to water, a rapin spinning water type would be a bonus
-A legitimate special attacker that didn’t have to double as something else (Zapdos’s EVs were defensive based)
-Something that could replace blissey, because I couldn’t put together a proper wish set on DP/HG

Result: Current team at a glance

Gyarados was the last addition to the team. As the primary strategy was based around laying down stealth rocks and toxispikes, Gyarados was added because he plays very well off of those things. I also didn’t have an EQ used since I took that off swampert for protect. Altogether I have a lot of water attacks/types on my team so Gyarados is a little redundant but he does function as an easy switch in for me in many battles.

Relaxed
Ice Beam
Stealth Rock
Roar
Protect

Mixpert stolen off of Smogon with surf swapped for roar. This being a team where stealth rock and toxispikes were used in 80% of games a bulky phazer was required, preferably one with few weaknesses.

I'm really enjoying the benefits of having such a bulky lead, here is how he functions vs the current top 10 leads

Metagross - SR Roar
Azelf - SR Roar
Infernape - Protect to confirm if its a grass knot set, then switch to tentacruel
Jirachi - SR Roar
Aerodactyl - Ice beam x 2 regardless of if it taunts or not
Swampert - I've run into a few swamperts with hp grass, so I protect to see his set, then roar or switch accordingly
Bronzong - Protect in case of explosion, then SR Roar
Tyranitar - SR Roar
Heatran - Protect in case of explosion, then SR Roar
Gengar - Protect to confirm set, gengar might be one of the hardest leads, usually a switch into scizor
Mamoswine - SR Roar

Adamant
U-Turn
Bullet Punch
Superpower
Pursuit

The muscle behind the team, the only choice pokemon on the team. Very useful for switching in to toxic users, which otherwise hurt the team. He is also the answer to the ghost types which always show up once I put my rapid spinner out.

@ Life Orb
Ability : Intimidate
252 ATK 4 DEF 252 SPE
Adamant
Dragon Dance
Waterfall
Stone Edge
Earthquake

Probably the least used pokemon for me on this team. Gyarados will come in the late game when I know at least one of their t-bolt/thunder users is down, or when I know I can switch him in to something that will get a DD off. Before DD he isn’t actually that useful for me. He’s good for me vs lucario who can be a big problem.

Sludge Bomb

Usually the gameplan goes: Swampert out, throw down SR, Ice beam instead if it gets taunted. Then either roar or switch directly into Tentacruel to lay down some toxic spikes and spin away their SR. My set has a big issue with leech seeders, so I like throwing him on on subseeders like Celebi or even Ludicolo. Being neutral to grass also helps as a switch from swampert.

Rest

Zapdos was originally on this team as a physically defensive set, making use of roost to heal instead of rest. But I had this huge issue where I’d lose any time a sub punching Breloom came out. So besides using zapdos to switch in to spore users, hes also very useful for his neutral boltbeam coverage against some physical walls as well as status inflictors that aren’t expecting a resttalk set.

Recover / Grass Knot

My late game beauty. Fast enough to handle most of its threats and strong enough to punch through entire teams later on. Considering switching recover for grass knot, because resttalk cursing swampert completely walls my team.

What I find the most important thing of this team is; its been very, very easy to use so far.

Threats to be posted soon

Bronzong - With no fire attack throughout the team, and toxic spikes not doing a thing taking zong down isnt too easy. Usually if I can get scizor in a few Superpowers wear him down/scare him off but theres no direct counter
Breloom - Spore puncher ran through my whole team daily before I turned zapdos into a rest talker, and even now its only luck that sleep talk kills substitutes with HP Ice
Celebi - The easy answer is pursuit, but if I can't stop the sub-seeding set from setting up I find myself in a lot of trouble
Forretress - Usually tentacruel surfs this guy to death, having low sp def it sometimes works, but not without my toxic spikes strategy getting spun and 50% of the time tentacruel dies from EQ
Heatran - Swampert can wall, but no do damage. Tentacruel can surf to some effect, but both of these strategies are nerfed with heatran packing HP grass/electric
Heracross - I usually get zapdos to wall this guy, although if stone edge is used he goes down
Kingdra - Kingdra becomes easier with SR, TSpike support. I can't really safely switch in to him, so I would usually secure a revenge kill on him
Machamp - Confusion seems to work extra well against me, so I use resttalking zapdos to stay alive while slowly wearing him down, while taking advantage of machamps mediocre speed
Metagross - Tentacruel is sort of an un-reliable switch in. I proceed to set up TSpikes, Spin if needed then get Swampert to phaze him a few times until he's weak enough to handle with a Superpower from scizor
Rotom-a - I have a HUGE problem with all Rotoms using this team. I wish it were as easy as getting scizor in and using pursuit, but they're all so fast taking two solid hits usually means I have to resort to other ways to take Rotom out.
Swampert - As of now I have no answer to this that I have discovered, so I am thinking of adding grass knot to Latias

Hello

Rotom-a is pretty problematic for your team, and tbh I really wouldn't recommend running GK over Recover on Latias, it's really your only response to Heatran, Gyarados is a bit of a hassle to get in with SR and Fire Blasts, additionally you will be slower than most Heatran because you are Adamant. Your only attack on Swampert is Ice Beam so you'll be walled by even Tyranitar, which isn't good at all. Replace Protect on Swampert for Earthquake, as it's more important to hit these threats than to stall them out with Toxic Spikes or Spikes. Also, I'm not sure why you have "Ice Beam" on Zapdos, I'll assume you have HP Ice, in which case you should probably consider replacing that for HP Grass if you want to deal some good damage to cursepert.

For some larger changes, consider running Specs Latias over your current CM Variant, as it hits harder and gives you Trick, allowing you to do better against stall teams -- furthermore, it helps break down pokemon a lot easier, considering you run two types of entry hazards. CM Latias can manage 2hkos with Scizor when there's entry hazards on the field for example, and against stall based teams your Latias will simply be fodder for Forry, Blissey, and Tyranitar.

I am quite skeptical about your team building process, especially with Gyarados. Something that your team has in Gyarados, a Ground immune and a fighting resist is pretty nice, though I think something like Rotom-a would also be fit for the job in the team. Sub Beam Rotom in particular looks like a good option with a Toxic Spikes team, so perhaps you should consider trying that. You can set up on pokemon like skarmory, and charge beam up on Blissey, while making sure that it doesn't break your sub. You can then proceed to pound on it with HP fighting as it struggles to keep up with your high SpA with boosts as well as Toxic Spikes damage. If you can manage to get 2 layers of TS down, that's even better.

The sets for my suggestions would be

Latias @ Specs
Timid 252 spa 252 spe 4 hp
Draco Meteor / Dragon Pulse / Surf / Trick

Rotom-c @ Leftovers
Timid 64 HP / 232 SpA / 212 Spe
Charge Beam / HP Fighting / Sub / Shadow Ball

These changes will overall maintain how you deal with threats and how you switch into things, and makes sure to use Rotom-a later on in the game when most things are weakened and you can expect what's coming later.

Good luck with your team.

EDIT: I realize you're *possibly* using this for Wifi where Rotom-a isn't available, I'm no expert on the wifi metagame but for that you could simply keep Gyarados on there, as Rotom-a is nonexistent there and isn't a threat at that point.

Well done. Nice team.

k now on to the rate...

Ice Beam is a decent choice on Swampert but Water Fall or Earth Quake would make a better choice. Water fall hits every common lead for neutral or Super Effective damage while Ice mean is resisted by many of the current common leads. Earth Quake is also another good option but some leads are immune to Earth Quake. Stealth Rock is a must. Roar can be useful in some situations. Protect is very useful against Azelf , Bronzong, Metagross etc. to survive their Explosion.

Like you said in your threat list; Heatran, Swampert and Metagross are countered by your own Swampert. Replacing Ice Beam for Water Fall sounds like a useful option.
Since Latias is your "Late Game Beauty", replacing Leftovers with a Choice Item can be useful.

Latias @Choice Scarf (#1 Option Choice Scarf , #2 Option Choice Specs)
Ability : Levitate
4 HP 252 SP ATK 252 SPE
Nature: Timid
Thunder Bolt
Dragon Pulse
Surf
Trick

Max Speed with Choice Scarf allows you to Out Speed some of the common Dragon Dance threats such as Gyarados, Salamence etc. with +1 Speed.

Latias

350/2 = 175

350 + 175 = 525 Speed with a Choice Scarf and Max speed.

Hope I helped.XD
