Backstory
I wanted a team I could transfer over to Wifi if it worked on Shoddy
Swampert : I based my team around a lead, maybe not the best idea but that’s how it started. Without any knowledge of the OU metagame I picked Swampert for only having one weakness, solid defensive stats and he could operate on two levels for me: SR and phasing
Blissey was picked for her synergy with swampert. CB Scizor was a great early addition for his physical dominance, and a great switch in for the threats swampert and blissey have. Gliscor was meant for taunting. Infernape for attack coverage, and Zapdos because I didn’t have a speacial attacker, and I had also just caught a bold one in HG. I experimented with this team for a while, this being my first first team. Obviously getting used to the OU metagame I found a lot of wholes so I made a few needed adjustments.
I needed
-Bulky water type, because no one was resistant to water, a rapin spinning water type would be a bonus
-A legitimate special attacker that didn’t have to double as something else (Zapdos’s EVs were defensive based)
-Something that could replace blissey, because I couldn’t put together a proper wish set on DP/HG
Result: Current team at a glance

Gyarados was the last addition to the team. As the primary strategy was based around laying down stealth rocks and toxispikes, Gyarados was added because he plays very well off of those things. I also didn’t have an EQ used since I took that off swampert for protect. Altogether I have a lot of water attacks/types on my team so Gyarados is a little redundant but he does function as an easy switch in for me in many battles.
@ Leftovers
Ability : Torrent
252 HP 4 SP ATK 252 DEF
Relaxed
Ice Beam
Stealth Rock
Roar
Protect
Mixpert stolen off of Smogon with surf swapped for roar. This being a team where stealth rock and toxispikes were used in 80% of games a bulky phazer was required, preferably one with few weaknesses.
I'm really enjoying the benefits of having such a bulky lead, here is how he functions vs the current top 10 leads
Metagross - SR Roar
Azelf - SR Roar
Infernape - Protect to confirm if its a grass knot set, then switch to tentacruel
Jirachi - SR Roar
Aerodactyl - Ice beam x 2 regardless of if it taunts or not
Swampert - I've run into a few swamperts with hp grass, so I protect to see his set, then roar or switch accordingly
Bronzong - Protect in case of explosion, then SR Roar
Tyranitar - SR Roar
Heatran - Protect in case of explosion, then SR Roar
Gengar - Protect to confirm set, gengar might be one of the hardest leads, usually a switch into scizor
Mamoswine - SR Roar
@ Choice Band
Ability : Technician
252 HP 252 ATK 4 SPE
Adamant
U-Turn
Bullet Punch
Superpower
Pursuit
The muscle behind the team, the only choice pokemon on the team. Very useful for switching in to toxic users, which otherwise hurt the team. He is also the answer to the ghost types which always show up once I put my rapid spinner out.
@ Life Orb
Ability : Intimidate
252 ATK 4 DEF 252 SPE
Adamant
Dragon Dance
Waterfall
Stone Edge
Earthquake
Probably the least used pokemon for me on this team. Gyarados will come in the late game when I know at least one of their t-bolt/thunder users is down, or when I know I can switch him in to something that will get a DD off. Before DD he isn’t actually that useful for me. He’s good for me vs lucario who can be a big problem.
@ Leftovers
Ability : Liquid Ooze
252 HP 120 DEF 136 SPD
Calm
Toxic Spikes
Rapid Spin
Surf
Sludge Bomb
Usually the gameplan goes: Swampert out, throw down SR, Ice beam instead if it gets taunted. Then either roar or switch directly into Tentacruel to lay down some toxic spikes and spin away their SR. My set has a big issue with leech seeders, so I like throwing him on on subseeders like Celebi or even Ludicolo. Being neutral to grass also helps as a switch from swampert.
@ Leftovers
Ability : Pressure
252 HP 4 DEF 252 SPE
Bold
Thunderbolt
hidden power ice
Sleep Talk
Rest
Zapdos was originally on this team as a physically defensive set, making use of roost to heal instead of rest. But I had this huge issue where I’d lose any time a sub punching Breloom came out. So besides using zapdos to switch in to spore users, hes also very useful for his neutral boltbeam coverage against some physical walls as well as status inflictors that aren’t expecting a resttalk set.
@ Leftovers
Ability : Levitate
4 HP 252 SP ATK 252 SPE
Timid
Calm Mind
Dragon Pulse
Surf
Recover / Grass Knot
My late game beauty. Fast enough to handle most of its threats and strong enough to punch through entire teams later on. Considering switching recover for grass knot, because resttalk cursing swampert completely walls my team.
What I find the most important thing of this team is; its been very, very easy to use so far.
