no, i didnt start editing a pokemon ruby rom. i used my mind palace instead. you see, pokemon is an easy game. a kids game, even. this is why i am creating my own version of pokemon that will be challenging and engaging.

now im not a serious game balance designer, but i wanted to play around with this rom to create a fun and unique experience. today i figured that i would showcase the first battle of the game (spoilers, may dies, so she doesnt count) to give you a taste of my work in progress. i decided to go off of cookie's idea of including him in the game, along with his team. its a shame no one else wanted to be included in a rom hack.
and there you have it. i may have misplayed in the beginning, but do not be discouraged. much like dark souls, overcoming powerful obstacles will have you feel satisfaction flowing onto you, not unlike the iconic post-soccer gatorade.

cookie's sprite was posterized against my will. here is what the original looks like:

leave your ideas and comments to the south of this post and ill get back to you soon.

Clearly fake: the protagonist's outfit clearly indicates that this is Emerald, not Ruby. Furthermore, the AI is bad, going for inaccurate Fissure unnecessarily.
you see, this is in fact ruby; however the rebellious brendan is wearing green for environmental awareness, as norman is an oil magnate in this timeline. furthermore, these groudons' fissures are 100% accuracy.

put more monkfish characters in ron hacks
Hi, Ron Hacks here with Monkfish-B-Gone! The super-strong anti-character insertion spray! That can instantly patch, bond, seal, and repair Pokemon ROMs! Monkfish-B-Gone is no ordinary spray; its triple velocity spray virtually catapults itself to the surface, instantly stopping the most deplorable requests. Poor coding can cause major damage, but Monkfish-B-Gone grips on tight and patches instantly! Plus, Monkfish-B-Gone’s powerful repellant is so strong, it even works under heavy rain! Looking at you, Kyogre! Now you can repair ROMs and spas in water without draining them! Monkfish-B-Gone is perfect for marine, campers and RVs! Monkfish-B-Gone is super strong, and once it's on, it stays on! And for emergency ROM repair, Monkfish-B-Gone keeps its spray, even in the toughest conditions! Repetitive requests can cause big damage, but Monkfish-B-Gone comes super large, so you can easily reuse it. To show the power of Monkfish-B-Gone, I sawed this boat in half! And then told Monkfish to get the hell away from me with only Monkfish-B-Gone! Not only does Monkfish-B-Gone’s powerful repellant not hold the boat together, it creates a super strong water tight seal against Monkfish, so the inside is completely Monkfish-free! Yee-doggy! Just cut, peel, spray and seal! Imagine everything you can do with the power of Monkfish-B-Gone!

if only SS had it. Then they would of banned every firebot mod

hey guys. im checking in to reveal the second step of the ruby mod. my masterful balancing skills in tandem with my endless creativity are producing a mod that is both challenging and engaging. after grinding for a little bit, i got my torchic strong enough to take on cookie's groudons. the next trainer, however, is proving to be a challenge. the following video file contains my rematch against cookie and my first interaction with the next trainer.
im kinda stuck at this stage. please leave your suggestions and comments underneath this post and i will simulate their feasibility in my mind palace.

if youd pay attention to the tutorial youll have learned that water pokemon beat fire pokemon. user error, dumbass. quit blaming the game like a scrub and train a electric pokemon!

hello xzern,

for starters, please ignore this user:

Steal Borrow a Ludicolo. Best thing I can think of vs. Kyogre.

he is low skill and doesn't realize the lotad line is exclusive to sapphire. anyway.

hello again. i am a skilled pokemon challenge runner and believe i can help you. your situation seems dire, but i believe there is a scenario in which you can come out on top. for starters, catch a couple zigzagoon so that you have access to its pickup ability. this will help you make money by selling the items as you'll need A LOT of poke balls. since this is ruby and not emerald, you won't need to grind for good items, so you should sell everything besides revives, kings rocks, and proteins.

okay, now for the meat and potatoes. you will need to catch some seedots. like, a lot of seedots. you see, at level 43 seedot learns explosion. this is a very good move in generation 3. be sure not to evolve your seedot until you learn explosion, and once you do, grind your nuzleaf up to level 100. unfortunately, shiftry requires a sun stone and you can't pick those up, so we're stuck with nuzleaf. oh, i forgot to mention. kyogre has base 90 speed, but thankfully monkfish is not an ace trainer and so his IVs are poop. just to be safe, you will want all of your final seedots to be a jolly nature with a 31 speed IV (remember when i said you'd need a lot of poke balls?). you will also want to make sure they only KO 252 tailow's, zigzagoon's, or wingull's for speed EVs and then 252 poochyena's for attack EVs (you can use the proteins for this too). in about 6 months, you'll have a team that should look like the following:

Nuzleaf @ King's Rock
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Sunny Day
- Synthesis
- Explosion
- Extrasensory

now, as you can probably tell, explosion is going to be the main move here. however, it's important to note that if the attacker uses explosion and both of the last pokemon faint, it will result in a draw. so to prevent that, we're going to need some luck. the goal will be to flinch kill at least 1 kyogre with extrasensory boosted by our kings rock that we grabbed from zigzagoon. once you get at least one kill, it's time to boom. here is the explosion calc:

252 Atk Nuzleaf Explosion vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Kyogre: 396-466 (116.1 - 136.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO

now remember: that is assuming the Kyogre have perfect IVs and as we know by the trainer class, it does not. additionally, you can use the revives your zigzagoon found to make this more feasible. your goal should be to stall out the sheer colds (only 5) and then sunny day + synthesis to heal off the boosted water moves. if you can go 5 turns without sheer cold hitting, you'll have this in the bag. good luck. save in front of monkfish and take it home.

huahuahua !

thank you for finally PMITG and good luck defeating my bugwater pokemon.

btw there seems to have been a glitch in your sprite code whereby my trainer sprite has been replaced with a butterfly ponce. please fix

yea im gonna have to request being wally with Mawile, Scizor, Tyranitar, Zapdos, Gengar and Salamence. Also make the Ralts Wally catches that Mawile.
Edit: Also make my dude obsessed with big titty goth girls and sneak a clever line or 2. Thanks ;)

hello xzern fans. ive returned to update my ruby rom modding adventure.
some bullshit
thank you for your advice, faint. however, in my latest video, i have devised an equally convoluted method to defeat monkfish.

the following video file executes my plan to overcome the monkfish fight, as well as my battle against the next trainer. preceding the battle, i have premonitions regarding the upcoming fight a la epitaph and i prepare accordingly. join me in this journey.

below are post-watching notes. read after viewing.
grougrege is a water-fire type. yes, it does have water moves. it appears there was simply a gap in skill between the trainers in this interaction.
feel free to pitch more ideas for our next adventure. please leave your thoughts, suggestions, and serendipitous findings below this post.

For this Pokemon, I would like it to have a new formed, called Aggron-Amped. It's Aggron with light cyan crystals on it's arms and claws.
It's ability is Huge Power, and it's stats spread is 70 / 150 / 230 / 130 / 140 / 140. It triggers when it's below 25% HP.
