hello
xzern,
for starters, please ignore this user:
Steal Borrow a Ludicolo. Best thing I can think of vs. Kyogre.
he is low skill and doesn't realize the lotad line is exclusive to sapphire. anyway.
hello again. i am a skilled pokemon challenge runner and believe i can help you. your situation seems dire, but i believe there is a scenario in which you can come out on top. for starters, catch a couple zigzagoon so that you have access to its pickup ability. this will help you make money by selling the items as you'll need A LOT of poke balls. since this is ruby and not emerald, you won't need to grind for good items, so you should sell everything besides revives, kings rocks, and proteins.
okay, now for the meat and potatoes. you will need to catch some seedots. like, a lot of seedots. you see, at level 43 seedot learns explosion. this is a very good move in generation 3. be sure not to evolve your seedot until you learn explosion, and once you do, grind your nuzleaf up to level 100. unfortunately, shiftry requires a sun stone and you can't pick those up, so we're stuck with nuzleaf. oh, i forgot to mention. kyogre has base 90 speed, but thankfully monkfish is not an ace trainer and so his IVs are poop. just to be safe, you will want all of your final seedots to be a jolly nature with a 31 speed IV (remember when i said you'd need a lot of poke balls?). you will also want to make sure they only KO 252 tailow's, zigzagoon's, or wingull's for speed EVs and then 252 poochyena's for attack EVs (you can use the proteins for this too). in about 6 months, you'll have a team that should look like the following:
Nuzleaf @ King's Rock
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Sunny Day
- Synthesis
- Explosion
- Extrasensory

now, as you can probably tell, explosion is going to be the main move here. however, it's important to note that if the attacker uses explosion and both of the last pokemon faint, it will result in a draw. so to prevent that, we're going to need some luck. the goal will be to flinch kill at least 1 kyogre with extrasensory boosted by our kings rock that we grabbed from zigzagoon. once you get at least one kill, it's time to boom. here is the explosion calc:
252 Atk Nuzleaf Explosion vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Kyogre: 396-466 (116.1 - 136.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO
now remember: that is assuming the Kyogre have perfect IVs and as we know by the trainer class, it does not. additionally, you can use the revives your zigzagoon found to make this more feasible. your goal should be to stall out the sheer colds (only 5) and then sunny day + synthesis to heal off the boosted water moves. if you can go 5 turns without sheer cold hitting, you'll have this in the bag. good luck. save in front of monkfish and take it home.
