[Overview]
  • Known as Ohmassacre in France
  • Has a great base attack and special attack
  • Has access to Coil, Dragon Tail and Acid Spray
  • Disappointing speed
  • No weaknesses
  • Average Defenses, but very good compared to other electric types in NU
  • LEVITATE!!!

[SET]
Name: Special Eel
Move 1: Thunderbolt
Move 2: Flamethrower
Move 3: Grass Knot
Move 4: Acid Spray/Volt Switch
Item: Leftovers / Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
Nature: Modest
Evs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]
  • Acts as a decent bulky attacker with max HP.
  • Thunderbolt STAB
  • Flamethrower to check steel types
  • Grass Knot to nab heavier opponents and Quagsire (who walls this set otherwise)
  • Acid Spray to help break through special walls
  • Volt Switch to get out of unfavorable situations and to scout

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]
  • Specs could be used over life orb and leftovers for off the bat power without recoil.
  • Expert Belt could be used over Life Orb to try to increase life while still hitting hard
  • U-turn can be used over Volt Switch
  • Doesn't need to worry about spikes or t-spikes
  • with invested bulk it's only OHKO'd by some boosted opponents
  • can work great with teams weak to ground moves, loves toarkoal for a teammate
  • Also works well with hazard support by gaining some key KO's after spikes or rocks damage

[SET]
Name: Coil
Move 1: Coil
Move 2: Wild Charge
Move 3: Substitute / Crunch
Move 4: Return / Brick Break
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
Nature: Careful
Evs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]
  • Coil Boosts Attack, Defense and Accuracy, acting like Bulk Up
  • Substitute prevents status and helps with prediction
  • Wild Charge for STAB although the recoil damage is a bit of a burden
  • Crunch to check Kadabra, Exeggutor, Duosion and other psychics
  • Return to have decent neutral coverage
  • Brick Break for Ice and Rock types that could otherwise wall this set

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]
  • With this bulk after a coil or two, Dragon Tail can become useful
  • Can run parashuffle (Twave / Dragon Tail) for a stall team or team support
  • Can also run mixed moves for diversity and better coverage
  • Hazards support is very helpful for eelektross
  • Can invest in speed for potential sweeping instead of SpD

[Other Options]
  • Rest Coil
  • Mix set
  • Choice
  • Sub + 3 Attacks

[Checks and Counters]
  • Without Grass Knot, Quagsire and Golem wall him cold
  • Pinsir and Rampardos can outspeed and OHKO with EQ
  • Often cannot take repeated hits so pretty much anything with a strong attack

a mix wall breaking set deserves a set
eelektross is one of the best wall breakers inthe tier

and mention coil + zap cannon

The first set is missing a nature, but otherwise looks good. Volt Switch could be put in AC if you want, but the whole point of U-Turn is to get away from any threats. Expert Belt might warrant a mention in AC too since Electric/Fire/Grass can hit a lot of things in NU super effectively and you don't have to get all that nasty LO recoil.

I'm not sure how useful Rock Slide is on the second set, it doesn't really hit many things you couldn't hit before, and I'd rather use one of the other 2 moves.

I've told you this over the IRC, I think a Rest Coil set should be in the [Other Options] section, it's actually not half bad depending on the time you set up and how weakened the opposing team is. Hazard support is very useful for it. Whether this deserves its own set or not is up to you, from my experience it either fails or it works really well.

Mention Rampardos in Counters because it can outspeed (by 4 base speed) and OHKOs (I would love to see the damage without Strict Damage Clause active.) easily with EQ.

Thanks DTC and AOPSuser, I edited everything you suggested.

AOPS unboosted Rampardos unfortunately isn't on Honko's all for one calculator. But LO boosted Pinsir with EQ does about 120% to 252 hp/0 def neutral eelektross so I can only assume rampardos takes it to 12.

happy I didn't add zap cannon to the coil set because it takes two boosts in order to become somewhat reliable, and even then it can still miss and has only 8 PP.

Any particular reason you're going with U-turn over STAB Volt Switch on the first set? You lose to Lanturn regardless. Also Acid Spray doesn't lower Special Attack, it lowers Special Defense.

Thanks Tennisace I've make those edits

Other edits:
-Removed Hone Claws from OO
-Added specs to special eel's AC
-Made some minor spacing changes and edited EV's

I have a lot of trouble with speeds tiers so I'm not adding that yet. I know he can outspeed base 60's with 80 EV's and a + speed nature.

I totally forgot about sub + 3 attacks @_@

For the SubCoil set this is the EV spread I've been using and one I'd like to recommend.
228 HP / 196 SDef / 84 Spe ~The EV spread is set to outspeed and beat base 60 and lower speed pokemon such as Tangela and Wartortle, being able to set up on them without being hit with status or Leech Seed. However investing in such speed means sacrificing EVs in other stats, but I found that 228 HP / 196 SDef is the best use of the leftover EVs, with Eelektross being able to hit a Leftovers numbers and pokemon such as Misdeavus, Amoongus, Tangela, and Alomomola still can't break its Sub.

Also mention that on that set that Spikes support is pretty crucial allowing you to beat its counters with repeated Spikes switch ins. That way the Coils and Spikes phazing provides offensive pressure and hazard shuffling all in one. Mention Spikes Cacturne as an excellent partner as it sets up Spikes and easily beats Quagsire, who counters Eel.
