Prepare yourselves for the pure and glorious power that is known only as Ekans. For you all can not truly understand the divine might of the serpent, for above all else, the being who moves like the winding river and hisses like the coming storm shall unleash its indignation upon Little Cup. Kneel on your legs before the legless most pure, the poison of life and death and the one who rattles like a rumbling earthquake, Ekans!

Status:
ALL DONE!

[Overview]

  • Best overall user of Intimidate currently available
  • Access to priority in the form of Sucker Punch
  • Able to boost its stats with Coil, spread paralysis with Glare or cause havoc with Switcheroo
  • Powerful Ground-types like Moguryuu, Gligar and Hippopotas becoming more common make it hard for Ekans to switch in
  • Poison is a mediocre STAB in Little Cup and stats, bar Attack, are average
[Set]
Name: Bulky Coil
move 1: Coil
move 2: Gunk Shot
move 3: Sucker Punch
move 4: Level Ground / Earthquake
item: Oran Berry
ability: Intimidate
nature: Adamant
evs: 236 HP / 196 Atk / 4 Def / 4 SpD

[Set Comments]

  • This set uses Intimidate and Coil to increase Ekans survivability so it can damage the opponents team while taking hits
  • Coil boosts Ekans's Attack, Defense and Accuracy
  • Gunk Shot is a powerful STAB move made better by Coil's Accuracy boost
  • Sucker Punch provides Ekans with a form of priority
  • Level Ground hits Aron and Teshiido while lowering the foe's Speed, potentially making Ekans faster
  • Earthquake is an option if you want more power
[Additional Comments]

  • The EVs give Ekans max HP and Attack while giving it a small boost in its defenses. The extra 70 EVs can be used to repair any stats with poor IVs
  • This set can work in Trick Room, but change the Speed IV to zero and give Ekans a Brave nature
  • Flying-types, Dark-types and Bronzor are excellent teammates since they cover Ekans's weaknesses well
  • Water-types or Pokemon that can easily take down Ground-types are great teammates

  • Almost any Ground-type with a decent Attack (example: Meguroko) can switch in on Ekans while its using Coil and still OHKO with Earthquake
  • Psychic-types can hammer Ekans with Psychic STAB but must watch out for Sucker Punch
  • Bronzor with Psychic can easily endure a Sucker Punch or two and go for the KO
  • Duskull can come in thanks to Levitate and Poison-type resistance and burn Ekans with Will-O-Wisp
[Set]
name: Fast Coil
move 1: Coil
move 2: Gunk Shot
move 3: Sucker Punch
move 4: Earthquake
item: Life Orb
ability: Shed Skin
nature: Jolly
evs: 196 Atk / 4 Def / 4 SpD / 236 Spe
ivs: 29 HP

[Set Comments]

  • Unlike Bulky Coil, Fast Coil is meant to try and sweep the opponent's team
  • Coil raises Ekans's Attack, Defense and Accuracy, giving Ekans the boost it needs to start dealing heavy damage
  • Gunk Shot is a powerful STAB move which benefits greatly from Coil
  • Sucker Punch for priority and Ghost-types
  • Earthquake hits most Steel-types and Rock-types for super-effective damage
[Additional Comments]

  • Intimidate is an option over Shed Skin
  • IVs allow Ekans to reach 19 HP
  • Bulky Ground-types like Phanpy give this set trouble, so Water-types like Mantyke work well with this set
  • Stealth Rock is greatly appreciated, so Bronzor is a great teammate

  • Bulky Ground-types like Hippopotas and Phanpy
  • Misdreavus and Gastly with Substitute can get around Ekans's Sucker Punch easily
  • This set is easily revenge killed by faster than 16 Speed with a super-effective attack, especially special ones
[Set]
name: Glare
move 1: Glare
move 2: Poison Jab
move 3: Earthquake
move 4: Aqua Tail
item: Oran Berry
ability: Intimidate
nature: Adamant
evs: 76 HP / 196 Atk / 4 Def / 4 SpD / 156 Spe

[Set Comments]

  • Ekans's flagship set is back for another go. To get Aqua Tail, this Ekans needs to be PokeShifted from either Platinum or HeartGold / SoulSilver
  • Glare with Intimidate forms a potent combo that can cripple sweepers, especially physical Fighting-types
  • Poison Jab for STAB
  • Earthquake hits Aron and other Steel-types
  • Aqua Tail hits pesky Ground-types that often switch into Ekans
[Additional Comments]

  • EVs allow for maximum physical power and enough Speed to outspeed Aron before a Rock Polish. The rest of the EVs are invested in defenses
  • Slow Pokemon that appreciate paralysis, like Clamperl and Munchlax, are great teammates
  • Something that won't mind its Speed being lowered by paralysis, like Munchlax or Bronzor, are good counters
  • Glameow can switch in easily thanks to Limber
[Set]
name: Fiery Snake
move 1: Switcheroo
move 2: Sludge Wave
move 3: Hidden Power Grass
move 4: Sucker Punch
item: Flame Orb
ability: Shed Skin
nature: Modest / Timid
evs: 4 Def / 196 SpA / 4 SpD / 236 Spe

[Set Comments]

  • Switheroo and Flame Orb is an annoying combo that can make physical sweepers useless. Shed Skin makes the combination even better
  • Sludge Wave for STAB that is unaffected by burn just in case you get unlucky with Shed Skin
  • Hidden Power Grass can be used as a weapon against Ground-types
  • Sucker Punch for priority
[Additional Comments]

  • Modest is preferred over Timid since Ekans has poor offensive power on the special side
  • Pokemon with poor Defense love working with this set, being able to take advantage of burn's attack drop
  • Special attackers, Fire-types or Pokemon with Guts easily counter this set
[Team Options]

  • Bronzor covers Ekans's weaknesses fantastically and provides Stealth Rock support
  • Water-types are great teammates with Ekans, especially Mantyke, Pururiru and Chinchou
  • Levitators and Flying-types can take advantage of Ekans's Ground-type weakness
  • Munchlax and Clamperl work well with the Glare set
[Optional Changers]

  • A Switcheroo set with Choice Scarf might work, but Choice Scarf is a risky item to swap in Little Cup due to the number of users of it
  • Venom Shock and Toxic is a gimmicky option, but may be effective
  • Coil and Rest could work with Shed Skin
[Counters]

  • For Bulky Coil and Fast Coil: Bulky Ground-types, Ghost-types with Substitute, Will-O-Wisp Duskull or Pururiru,
  • For Glare: Glameow with Limber, Munchlax
  • For Fiery Snake: Pokemon with Guts, Fire-types, Special Attackers
  • Ekans is easily revenge killed by most Choice Scarf users
[Dream World]

Intimidate and Shed Skin are better.

Mention somewhere it absorbs Tspikes

Imo Poison Jab should be slashed on the bulky coil set, as reliability and pp are welcome.

Also slash EQ with Level Ground on that set. Power is worth the speed drops.

Mention Glare and Coil could be used on the same set? Over Sucker Punch maybe? Ekans outspeeds lots of paralyzed stuff.

Aqua Tail could also go over Sucker Punch to hit Grounds that Ekans doesn't like.

Or Earthquake. Poison/Water/Dark is decent coverage.

This set is easily revenge killed by faster than 16 Speed with a super-effective attack, especially special ones
Not ones weak to Sucker Punch.

On the Fiery Snake set I think it is worth mentioning a different Hidden Power over Grass, such as Ice, which hits Ground just as you said grass does, as well hits Gligar for what I imagine to be a lot of damage.

Why isn't Evolution Stone seeing a slash in with Oran Berry?

Maybe at least say what the DW ability is. "Intimidate and Shed Skin are better."gives not a single hint as to what it might be and therefore the reader can make no judgment for themselves on what they think is better. Even if it is Unnerve.

Along with mentioning a Scarf Switcheroo, a Switcheroo, Shed Skin, Flame Orb, cripples most physical attackers.

Maybe menion Giga Drain in AC for both Coil sets, hits Gligar and gains back some health,

While I'm at it change HP Grass to Giga Drain, 5 more BP and Healing.

Stockpile set mention in OC, raises Ekans decent defenses.

I think you could save yourself some time by combining the two coil sets. It would only take a few slashes and a paragraph to explain an alternative EV spread and you would save yourself writing an extra/unecessary set.
