name: Bulky Spin
move 1: Rapid Spin
move 2: Giga Drain
move 3: Leech Seed / Synthesis
move 4: Sleep Powder / Aromatherapy
item: Leftovers
ability: Regenerator
nature: Bold
evs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
[SET COMMENTS]
Eldegoss is held back by its relatively weak base HP, bad defensive typing, and overall passivity. Its lack of pressure is easily taken advantage of by Pokemon like Dragapult, Hatterene, and Ferrothorn, as they freely switch in without much worry.
Nonetheless, Eldegoss finds its niche in the tier through its ability Regenerator and unique support movepool that features Rapid Spin, Sleep Powder, and Aromatherapy. Giga Drain provides Eldegoss with offensive capability and a form of recovery. Leech Seed saps health from foes for additional passive recovery, but Synthesis may be used instead for a burst of healing; be wary however of weathers that halve the move's effectiveness. Sleep Powder stalls foes to force switches and help Eldegoss recover health, while Aromatherapy lets it function as a cleric to support its teammates. Fully investing on physical bulk patches up its average Defense, allowing it to check certain Pokemon like Conkeldurr and Tyranitar.
Eldegoss's utility is appreciated by a multitude of Pokemon. In particular, Gyarados and Galarian Darmanitan enjoy the entry hazard removal provided by Eldegoss. Sweepers and wallbreakers such as Hawlucha and Dracovish also worry less about status conditions with Eldegoss's cleric capabilities. It also forms solid defensive cores with bulky Water-types such as Seismitoad and Toxapex; the latter in particular also creates a Regenerator core. Ditto can revenge kill setup Pokemon that try to take advantage of Eldegoss's passivity, while Mandibuzz and Corviknight keep in check Pokemon that exploit Eldegoss's weak offensive pressure such as Dragapult and Hatterene.
