PU Electivire [QC 3/3] (GP 2/2)

[OVERVIEW]

Electivire is a mixed wallbreaker with great coverage options and a Speed tier that permits it to outspeed and revenge kill common slower wallbreakers like Omastar, Oricorio-G, and Aurorus. Since there are so many different possibilities in terms of sets and coverage moves, Electivire can be unpredictable, though many of its options aren't usually as viable. Despite its offensive prowess, its frailty and middling Speed make it susceptible to faster attackers such as Lycanroc, Choice Scarf users like Primeape and Togedemaru, and priority moves such as Zangoose's Quick Attack and Skuntank's Sucker Punch. Regardless of its tremendous Attack, it struggles to break through physical walls, thus forcing it to rely on its weaker Special Attack in some cases. Since its Special Attack is nothing to write home about, it relies on super effective moves specifically designed to break its checks, thus failing to handle those neutral to its attacks such as Clefairy and defensive Spiritomb. It also faces harsh competition from fellow Electric-types, the most noteworthy being Eelektross, which totally eclipses Electivire besides having much lower Speed and lacking niche coverage moves like Earthquake. Other arguably better Electric-types include Alolan Raichu, which can break down its counters with Nasty Plot boosts, and Togedemaru, which can check Clefairy and can outpace base 95s that Electivire runs the risk of having to Speed tie with such as Haunter and Jynx.

Moves
========

Volt Switch allows Electivire to serve as an offensive pivot, switching out of bulkier foes such as Mesprit and gaining momentum on the Pokemon it checks. Thunderbolt does noticeably more damage but fails to generate any sort of momentum. Regardless, it can score the 2HKO on Gurdurr and defensive Mesprit after Stealth Rock while Volt Switch cannot. Flamethrower hits Grass-types like Tangela and Lilligant that resist Electivire's STAB move for super effective damage. Earthquake hits specially defensive tanks that would otherwise counter the set such as Lanturn and Probopass, 2HKOing the former and OHKOing the latter. It can OHKO Skuntank and 2HKO Hitmonchan with Earthquake after Stealth Rock, giving Electivire a slight niche over its nemesis Eelektross. Focus Blast will hit Normal-type tanks such as Audino and Type: Null for super effective damage, yet it is highly unreliable because of its bad accuracy. Alternatively, Ice Punch goes well with Electivire's STAB move, creating a variation of BoltBeam coverage that can hit the entire tier at least neutrally. It threatens offensive Ground-types like Golurk and can OHKO Altaria and Alolan Exeggutor.

Set Details
========

Electivire should run maximum Speed EVs to outpace Pokemon such as Oricorio-G, Lilligant, and other threats under the base 95 Speed benchmark. The remaining EVs are put into Special Attack to maximize damage output. A Naive nature is preferred over Hasty, as a Naive nature makes Electivire less vulnerable to priority moves like Mach Punch and Sucker Punch, and it doesn't decrease either of its attacking stats, permitting it to hit as hard as possible. Life Orb gives it a much-needed power boost to achieve certain KOs while still allowing it to switch between moves. With a Life Orb, Electivire can 2HKO Hitmonchan with Earthquake, 2HKO Weezing with Volt Switch, OHKO Aurorus with Earthquake, and 2HKO Audino with Focus Blast after Stealth Rock. Motor Drive makes Electivire immune to and enables it to benefit from Electric-type moves, giving it a +1 Speed boost and turning it into a much more imposing wallbreaker that can efficiently KO faster Pokemon like Floatzel. Vital Spirit is another viable option, as it prevents Electivire from being afflicted by sleep-inducing moves such as Jynx's Lovely Kiss and Lilligant's Sleep Powder.

Usage Tips
========

Electivire should primarily be used as a revenge killer and wallbreaker. It can quickly dispose of slower threats such as Skuntank and Aurorus after a bit of prior damage while using super effective moves to get past bulkier Pokemon like Lanturn. Given its tendency to be worn down easily by Life Orb recoil and entry hazard damage, Electivire should be used rather sparingly. Try to bring it in freely after a teammate has fainted or on a free switch-in from U-turn or Volt Switch, as its lackluster overall bulk inhibits its ability to switch into neutral attacks. Electivire can be an effective offensive pivot if it is running Volt Switch, as it can pivot out of unfavorable matchups against tanks like Musharna. Since Electivire has varied super effective coverage, it can often force the opponent to switch, which is an ideal opportunity to create offensive momentum. When brought into a Pokemon that it checks, try to predict by going for the appropriate coverage move that could possibly OHKO or 2HKO the switch-in. For instance, if the opponent plans to bring in Manectric to absorb an Electric-type attack, go for Earthquake instead to get the KO. If running Motor Drive, anticipate and come in on Volt Switch from pivots such as Lanturn and Manectric, disrupting the momentum and simultaneously boosting Electivire's Speed. In contrast, Vital Spirit can be utilized to protect a fellow team member from a Sleep Powder from Lilligant and Lovely Kiss from Jynx.

Team Options
========

Because of its ample coverage choices, Electivire compresses its role and fits well on teams that require a wallbreaker to deal with common cores such as the Weezing + Lanturn core. Stealth Rock greatly helps Electivire to net the OHKO on Pokemon that would normally be able to tank at least one hit. For example, after Stealth Rock damage, Electivire can guarantee the KO on Lilligant with Flamethrower and on Skuntank and Aurorus with Earthquake. Common setters include Mesprit, Qwilfish, and Regirock, all of which enjoy Electivire's capacity to check offensive threats like Lilligant. Grass-types make great partners because of exceptional type synergy. Lilligant and Alolan Exeggutor can set up on or threaten the Ground-types that check Electivire including Golem and Mudsdale. In return, Electivire can stomach a Supersonic Skystrike from Oricorio-G or Swanna and terrorize them with an Electric-type STAB move. Electivire appreciates the destructive potential of common physical wallbreakers like Kangaskhan and Stoutland. Strong physical attackers can deal with most special walls but are especially good at eliminating Electivire's counter and greatest enemy: Eelektross, as well as Clefairy since both can effectively wall Electivire. Other wallbreakers that benefit from Electivire's role as a pivot include Zangoose, Alolan Raticate, and Oricorio-G, all of which can manage its counters. They in turn value Electivire's support to wear down bulkier Pokemon like Aggron and Lanturn. Entry hazard removal is necessary to preserve Electivire's health. Rapid Spin support is optimal, as it does not remove the user's hazards that Electivire so desperately needs to net KOs. On the other hand, since there are many more viable Defoggers in the tier such as Silvally-Fairy, Swanna, and Skuntank, Defog is a solid alternative. Electivire can create a VoltTurn core with Pokemon such as Mesprit and Primeape to further pressure the opponent's team.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Expert Belt is plausible due to Electivire's impressive coverage, giving it the ability to bluff a Choice item without causing any recoil, which can improve Electivire's longevity. In spite of this, it misses out on a lot of power for its neutral attacks that could make or break the KO. As mentioned earlier, noteworthy ones include the failure to 2HKO Hitmonchan with Earthquake and the failure to 2HKO Weezing with Volt Switch. Choice Band turns Electivire into a dangerous physical wallbreaker, enabling it to break through certain walls such as Regirock and Spiritomb, but it sacrifices the ability to switch between moves, undermining its role and overall value. Moreover, with a Choice Band, Electivire can only 3HKO Weezing with Wild Charge, and it isn't appealing to lock Electivire into any of its moves, as they either have sufficient Pokemon resistant to immune to them or are relatively weak. Choice Scarf Electivire can be a good offensive pivot with Volt Switch, but it compromises power and, once again, the ability to switch between coverage moves. It is also largely overshadowed by Manectric, which has much higher Speed and access to Switcheroo to cripple its counters. Fightinium Z with Focus Blast can KO Regirock after a little prior damage, but this sacrifices Electivire's overall power and is mediocre due to its one-time use. Similarly, Fightinium Z with Cross Chop can be used to lure specially defensive Audino, guaranteeing the OHKO after Stealth Rock damage with 40 Attack EVs and having an 80% chance to do so without investment. Likewise, such as will KO Type: Null. Alas, it is very situational and surrenders the overall power boost from Life Orb. Z-Electric Terrain can boost Electivire's Speed by 1.5x and strengthen its Electric-type moves, but again it loses a valuable coverage move and requires a turn to set up, which is challenging due to Electivire's middling bulk. Wild Charge can 2HKO Clefairy but is otherwise an inconsistent STAB option that compounds recoil considerably if combined with Life Orb. Hidden Power Grass can 2HKO viable offensive Ground-types like Golurk and Golem but is otherwise a second-rate coverage move.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Specially Defensive Pokemon**: Electivire is troubled by specially defensive walls neutral to its attacks such as Eelektross, Clefairy, Musharna, and Hitmonchan. Eelektross, thanks to its ability Levitate, is immune to Earthquake and can comfortably take Electivire's coverage moves, threatening to respond with Knock Off. Clefairy and Musharna will only get 3HKOed by any of Electivire's moves and can provide clerical support, set up with Calm Mind, or stall it out with their respective healing moves. However, Electivire can 2HKO Hitmonchan with Earthquake.

**Ground-types**: Ground-types such as Golem and Mudsdale are particularly threatening, as they can take any one move, if Golem has Sturdy, and will OHKO back with STAB Earthquake. In addition, Alolan Dugtrio can outspeed and OHKO with Earthquake but can only come in on a predicted Electric-type attack or free turn.

**Faster Pokemon**: Lycanroc, Scyther, Floatzel, and Choice Scarf users such as Primeape can comfortably net the OHKO or 2HKO with their STAB attacks due to Electivire's subpar defenses. However, they must be wary of Electivire's strong attacks in return.

**Priority Moves**: Because Electivire has a relatively low Defense stat, it is susceptible to STAB priority moves including Kangaskhan's Fake Out, Hitmonchan's Mach Punch, and Skuntank's Sucker Punch.

This is an AM QC Check, so only implement what you want
[OVERVIEW]
  • Electivire's solid speed tier and excellent coverage make it a formidable revenge killer and sweeper, capable of hitting the entirety of the tier neutrally (if not super effectively).(I would remove parenthesis and add a comma)
  • Its base 95 speed allows it to outspeed and OHKO common threats such as Lilligant, Oricorio-G, and Skuntank. (You need SR in order to do so, you mentioned that in Team Options. Add a prepositional phrase mentioning SR)
  • Due to its good mixed attacking stats and extensive move pool on both sides, it can function as either a physical, special, or mixed sweeper.
  • Its reasonable base 85 Special Defense stat permits it to take most special attacks at least once and retaliate.(Very generic and doesn't seem like something that should be mentioned in the Overview really.)
  • Because of its useful ability in Motor Drive, it can prevent Volt Switchers(Volt Switch users) like Eelektross and Lanturn from pivoting out.
  • However, it has poor physical bulk which makes it susceptible to U-turn from Choice Scarfers(Choice Scarf users) like Primeape and Togedemaru, as well as priority such as Mach Punch and Sucker Punch.
  • Regardless of its tremendous Attack, it struggles to break through physical walls neutral to its coverage such as Weezing and Gastrodon, thus forcing it to rely on its weaker Special Attack in some cases.
  • It faces acute competition from fellow Electric-types: Eelektross (who is bulkier and immune to Ground-type moves), Alolan Raichu (who can set up to tear apart its counters with Nasty Plot), and Oricorio-E (who also has an immunity to Ground-type moves and has access to more utility moves).(This is a little clunky. I would reword it to say Electric-types such as X, Y, and Z who are either immune to Ground or have such and such utility.)
(Spacing Issues)

Moves
========

  • Volt Switch allows Electivire to serve as an offensive pivot, switching out of unfavorable matchups and gaining momentum on the Pokemon it checks.(generic, examples of unfavorable matchups and checks!!!)
  • Thunderbolt does noticeably more damage but fails to generate any sort of momentum for the team. (This is a very negative bullet point for a move that is getting slashed into the first moveslot)
  • Flamethrower hits Grass-types like Ferroseed and Lilligant for super effective damage that would resist Electivire's STAB moves. (According to the set, Electivire is only running one STAB move at a time)
  • Earthquake rounds out Elective's coverage, hitting Pokemon that would otherwise counter the set such as Lanturn and Probopass, 2HKOing and OHKOing respectively. (You might want to mention that EQ is physical and the two Pokemon you mentioned are Specially Defensive)
  • Ice Punch goes well with Electivire's STAB move, creating a variation of BoltBeam coverage which can hit the entire tier at least neutrally. It OHKOes Alolan Exeggutor and threatens Ground-types like Golurk.
  • Focus Blast hits Audino and Regirock significantly harder and provides the ability to hit other Normal-types super effectively including Type: Null and Drampa. However, it is slightly unreliable which is why it is not a preferred option, yet it's definitely plausible. (Either it is or it isn't. Remove yet it's definitely plausible.)

Set Details
========

  • 24 Attack EVs enable Electivire to OHKO Alolan Exeggutor with Ice Punch.
  • Electivire should run maximum speed to outpace (Pokemon such as)Oricorio-G, Lilligant, and other threats. (under the Base 95 Speed benchmark)
  • The remaining EVs are inputted into Special Attack to maximize damage output.
  • A Naive nature is preferred over Hasty; Electivire's Special Defense is slightly higher and a Naive nature also makes it less vulnerable to priority moves like Mach Punch and Sucker Punch.
  • Life Orb gives it a much needed power boost and allows it to OHKO or 2HKO the Pokemon it is meant to check.
  • Fightinium Z with Focus Blast can lure and OHKO offensive Drampa reliably. Notwithstanding, the extra power from Life Orb is necessary for Electivire's offensive aptitude. (If it's not on the set, why is it in Set Details? Move it to OO)
  • Motor Drive makes it immune to and actually benefits from Volt Switch, giving it a +1 Speed boost and turns it into a much more threatening sweeper.
  • Vital Spirit is another viable option as it prevents Electivire from being afflicted by sleep-inducing moves such as Jynx's Lovely Kiss and Lilligant's Sleep Powder.

Usage Tips
========

  • Because of its good mixed attacking capabilities combined with an array of coverage options, mixed Electivire threatens many different kinds of Pokemon (such as?)(I would end the sentence here and start a new one with However) and can be countered by very few Pokemon (such as?).
  • Given its tendency to be worn down easily by Life Orb recoil and entry hazard damage, it should be used rather sparingly.
  • It should be primarily used revenge killer and late game sweeper. Yet, it can break through physical walls that would normally check Electivire including Weezing and Regirock. Try to bring it in freely (after a teammate has fainted or on a slow Voltturn) as its lackluster overall bulk inhibits its ability to switch into neutral attacks.
  • Electivire can be an effective offensive pivot if it is running Volt Switch.
  • When brought into a Pokemon that it checks, try to predict by going for the appropriate coverage move that could possibly OHKO or 2HKO the switch-in. (generic, expand)

Team Options
========

  • Stealth Rock greatly helps Electivire to net the OHKO on Pokemon that would normally be able to tank at least one hit. For example, after Stealth Rock damage, Electivire can guarantee the kill on Lilligant with Flamethrower and Skuntank and Aurorus with Earthquake.
  • Grass-types make great partners because of exceptional type synergy. Lilligant and Alolan Exeggutor can set up on or threaten the Ground-types that check Electivire including Gastrodon and Mudsdale. In return, Electivire can easily stomach a Supersonic Skystrike from Oricorio-G or Swanna and terrorize them with an Electric STAB move.
  • If not running Focus Blast, Electivire fails to break through Normal-type tanks including Audino and Type: Null. Therefore, it appreciates the destructive potential of common physical wallbreakers like Stoutland and Hitmonchan. Strong physical attackers can also deal with Electivire's counter: Eelektross.
  • Because of its ample coverage choices, Electivire compresses its role and fits well on teams that require a sweeper to deal with the Ferroseed-Lanturn core.
  • Hazard removal is necessary to preserve Electivire's health. Defog seems a little counterintuitive since it removes the entry hazards that Electivire needs to get certain KOes, so Rapid Spin support from Pokemon like Hitmonchan is optimal.

=============

  • Choice Band turns Electivire into an imposing wallbreaker enabling it to break through certain walls, but it sacrifices the ability to switch between moves, which undermines its role.
  • Choice Scarf Electivire can be a good offensive pivot with Volt Switch, but it sacrifices power and once again the ability to switch between coverage moves. (What is Choice Scarf Electivire outclassed by?)
  • Assault Vest enhances Electivire's solid Special Defense in exchange for a lack of power. With Assault Vest, it can check +1 Lilligant at maximum health, but still gets 2HKOed by Specs Pyroar and Drampa (Why is this an inferior choice though?)
  • Hidden Power Grass can 2HKO Gastrodon specifically, but it takes away a much more valuable coverage move that would often be more practical overall. Besides, Electivire should not be expected to take on Gastrodon regardless.(Why?)
  • Z Electric Terrain can boost Electivire's speed by 1.5x and strengthen its Electric-type moves, but again it loses a valuable coverage move and requires a turn to set up, which is challenging due to Electivire's middling bulk.
(I would add Wild Charge, Cross Chop, and maybe Psychic too)

Checks and Counters
===================

**Ground-types**: Gastrodon primarily can wall all non-Hidden Power Grass Electivire variants and can simply recover using Recover. Ground-types such as Golem and Mudsdale are also particularly threatening as it can take any one move (if Golem has Sturdy) and will OHKO back with STAB Earthquake.

**Specially defensive Pokemon**: Electivire is troubled by specially defensive walls neutral to its attacks such as Clefairy and Hitmonchan. However, Electivire can 2HKO Hitmonchan with Earthquake.

**Eelektross**: Eelektross, thanks to its ability Levitate, is immune to Earthquake and can comfortably take Electivire's coverage moves, threatening to respond with Knock Off.

**Priority**: Because Electivire has a relatively low Defense stat, it is fairly weak(weak is generally used to describe a type disadvantage. I would use "susceptible") to STAB priority moves including Kangaskhan's Fake Out, Hitmonchan's Mach Punch, and Skuntank's Sucker Punch.

**Faster Pokemon**: (Adding "Pokemon such as" means there are more examples than what you've mentioned, which there are several)Specs Pyroar and Scarfers such as Primeape and Togedemaru easily handle Electivire due to its mediocre defenses.

AM check
[OVERVIEW]
  • Electivire's solid speed tier and excellent coverage make it a formidable revenge killer and sweeper You've got the right idea about it acts as somewhat of a revenge killer of sorts, but this is more so because of its niche of being wallbreaker that is faster than and has the coverage to threaten many other wallbreakers with middling speed, such as kingler, aurorus, etc., don't refer to it as a "sweeper" though, because it doesn't really function that way. capable of hitting the entirety of the tier neutrally (if not super effectively).
  • Its base 95 speed allows it to outspeed and OHKO common threats such as Lilligant, Oricorio-G, and Skuntank after sr.
  • Due to its good mixed attacking stats and extensive move pool on both sides, it can function as either a physical, special, or mixed sweeper The main set specifically functions as a mixed breaker, making the specific mentions of physical and special moot. In any case, points 1-3 are pretty redundant with one another to the point where you're probably better off just lumping them together in some way.
  • Its reasonable base 85 Special Defense stat permits it to take most special attacks at least once and retaliate Not a relevant trait, as its still not very bulky and shouldn't directly switch into most attacks a lot of the time.
  • Because of its useful ability in Motor Drive, it can prevent Volt Switchers like Eelektross and Lanturn from pivoting out.
  • However, it has poor physical bulk which makes it susceptible to U-turn from Choice Scarfers like Primeape and Togedemaru, as well as priority such as Mach Punch and Sucker Punch. (It's frail in general, so faster Pokemon like Pyroar, Dugtrio-A, Lycanroc, and Floatzel are relatively good mentions in general. U-turn is sort of a specific and weird point to make, and while I wouldn't get too much into the specifics of what mon threatens it since that's what the c&cs section is for, it should give off the general vibe that it's vulnerable to being revenge killed in general rather than just having poor physical bulk in particular)
  • Regardless of its tremendous Attack, it struggles to break through physical walls neutral to its coverage such as Weezing not the best example, as Flamethrower does about half and Electric STAB does even more and Gastrodon (it can run HP Grass easily enough, for reasons mentioned in the set section), thus forcing it to rely on its weaker Special Attack in some cases. (add a point about how its much lower Special Attack stat despite its superior special movepool renders it reliant on coverage in general to deal with bulky Pokemon, the flaw isn't necessarily a result of struggling to break through physical walls so much that struggles to break past bulky Pokemon in general without that super effective coverage: Examples include Clef, Eelektross, Musharna, and even stuff like defensive mesprit and spiritomb honestly)
  • It faces acute competition from fellow Electric-types: Eelektross (who is bulkier and immune to Ground-type moves and Knock Off to better harass its good checks, as well as a much better pivot due to being bulkier making it more reliable overall; make sure you make an emphasis on this Pokemon in particular, as it's probably the closest example of a mon that outclasses Electivire completely barring speed and some unique coverage options), Alolan Raichu (who can set up to tear apart its counters with Nasty Plot), and Oricorio-E (who also has an immunity to Ground-type moves and has access to more utility moves).

[SET]
name: It's Super Effective!

move 2: Flamethrower
move 3: Earthquake
move 4: Hidden Power Grass (talked with allstarapology and Uberskitty briefly about this one, and basically the ability to hit Gastrodon is ideal since it otherwise would be a complete stop to this set. Also maintains a stronger hit on lesser common but relevant Pokemon like Golem and Golurk harder than other moves if you opt for this. Also with this, you'd remove the OO mention about it) / Focus Blast (Ice Punch was also suggested to move in OO by QC member yogi)

Moves
========

  • Volt Switch allows Electivire to serve as an offensive pivot, switching out of unfavorable matchups and gaining momentum on the Pokemon it checks. (For unfavorable match ups, I've already mentioned some bulky Pokemon in the overview section that you can use as reference (Clef, Mesprit, Musharna, etc.), just try to mix them up and don't mention the same Pokemon over and over throughout the analysis)
  • Thunderbolt does noticeably more damage but fails to generate any sort of momentum for the team.
  • Flamethrower hits Grass-types like Ferroseed and Lilligant for super effective damage that would resist Electivire's STAB moves.
  • Earthquake rounds out Elective's coverage, hitting Pokemon that would otherwise counter the set such as Lanturn and Probopass, 2HKOing and OHKOing respectively. (Optional, but it might be relevant to point out that Earthquake can also 2HKO Hitmonchan 100% of the time after stealth rock damage. considering it's not a stab move or a specific coverage for chan, it might not be as obvious to the reader, and it's one of the few targets that it can get past more easily than Eelektross)

Usage Tips
========

  • Because of its good mixed attacking capabilities combined with an array of coverage options, mixed Electivire threatens many different kinds of Pokemon and can be countered by very few Pokemon. (this sentence is more so framed as a statement regarding its attributes rather than a useful tip on using it, so try to fix that. Also, mention examples of bulky/slower Pokemon that it can use its super effective coverage to exploit)
  • Given its tendency to be worn down easily by Life Orb recoil and entry hazard damage, it should be used rather sparingly.
  • It should be primarily used revenge killer and late game sweeper (Specifying that it's a sweeper is greatly missing the point of how this is meant to be used, and it just isn't a sweeper in the traditional sense. It's more of a wallbreaker that has coverage for defensive portions of the meta).
  • Make a point of what situations should it be looking to utilize Motor Drive/Vital Spirit

Team Options
========

In return, Electivire can easily stomach a Supersonic Skystrike from Oricorio-G or Swanna and terrorize them with an Electric STAB move.
  • If not running Focus Blast, Electivire fails to break through Normal-type tanks including Audino and Type: Null. Therefore, it appreciates the destructive potential of common physical wallbreakers like Stoutland and Hitmonchan (Chan's not a bad teammate but I wouldn't really regard it as a physical wallbreaker. it is simply a physical attacker just so happens to have super effective coverage against those bulky normals. you've also already mentioned chan in a later bullet point, so i would mix it up with something like gurdurr and even other breakers like aggron). Strong physical attackers can also deal with Electivire's counter: Eelektross. (and Clef)
Give some examples of offensive teammates that appreciate its wallbreaking ability/ability to pivot

  • Choice Scarf Electivire can be a good offensive pivot with Volt Switch, but it sacrifices power and once again the ability to switch between coverage moves. (you can say that it's outclassed by manectric which is a faster revenge killer as a scarfer and has switcheroo)
  • Assault Vest enhances Electivire's solid Special Defense in exchange for a lack of power. With Assault Vest, it can check +1 Lilligant at maximum health, but still gets 2HKOed by Specs Pyroar and Drampa

  • Ice Punch hitting Exeggutor-Alola and Drampa while maintaining coverage on Golurk, but less consistent than the other coverage options.
Checks and Counters

**Ground-types**: Gastrodon primarily can wall all non-Hidden Power Grass Electivire variants and can simply recover using Recover. Ground-types such as Golem and Mudsdale are also particularly threatening as it can take any one move (if Golem has Sturdy) and will OHKO back with STAB Earthquake. There also Dugtrio-Alola, who is less of a switch-in than the others, but is faster and can OHKO with Earthquake.

**Specially defensive Pokemon**: Electivire is troubled by specially defensive walls neutral to its attacks such as Clefairy and Hitmonchan. However, Electivire can 2HKO Hitmonchan with Earthquake. Eelektross could honestly be placed here, since it's a good check for the same reasons that the rest of the Pokemon here are, due to lack of good coverage to hit it with and being specially bulky enough to take every other move well. I would also get into mentions of other Pokemon that take its hits well, such as Munchlax, Audino without Focus Blast, Musharna, Spiritomb, etc.

**Eelektross**: Eelektross, thanks to its ability Levitate, is immune to Earthquake and can comfortably take Electivire's coverage moves, threatening to respond with Knock Off.

**Priority**: Because Electivire has a relatively low Defense stat, it is fairly weak to STAB priority moves including Kangaskhan's Fake Out, Hitmonchan's Mach Punch, and Skuntank's Sucker Punch.

**Faster Pokemon**: Specs Pyroar (not the only non-scarf example, there's also Lycanroc, Floatzel, and even more interesting examples like Persian-A which can pick it off with Foul Play after some prior damage. You also don't need to specify specs pyroar, there's also z-pyroar that gets the job done and in general Pyroar doesn't need a whole lot of prior damage to pick it off even w/ out boosted dmg) and Scarfers such as Primeape and Togedemaru easily handle Electivire due to its mediocre defenses.

I would say that the optimal order of checks and counters (from top to bottom) are: Specially Defensive Pokemon (they stop evire completely from effectively wallbreaking), Ground-types (block stab, can take certain coverage moves better than others, and can threaten with their own STAB), Faster Pokemon (good options for revenge killing), and Priority (lesser but still reliable options for picking it off)

[OVERVIEW]

  • Electivire's solid speed tier and excellent coverage make it a formidable revenge killer and wallbreaker, capable of hitting the entirety of the tier neutrally, if not super effectively.
  • Its base 95 speed allows it to outspeed and OHKO common threats such as Lilligant, Oricorio-G, and Skuntank after Stealth Rock.
  • Due to its good mixed attacking stats and extensive move pool on both sides, it can function as a solid mixed attacker. I think merging this point with the first would clean this up a bit, since they both talk about traits that make Electivire a good wallbreaker. The previous check also talked about merging the first three points together, which I think is a good idea.
  • Since there are so many different possibilities in terms of sets and coverage moves, Electivire is arguably one of the most versatile (and unpredictable) Pokemon in the tier. I definitely think this is overselling Electivire here. I'd just say that it has a decent amount of options, but most are suboptimal or outclassed by other Pokemon.
  • Because of its useful ability in Motor Drive, it can prevent Volt Switch users like Eelektross and Lanturn from pivoting out.
  • It has frailty makes it susceptible to faster attackers such as Lycanroc, Choice Scarf users like Primeape and Pinsir, and priority such as Mach Punch and Sucker Punch. Give some examples of Pokemon with Mach Punch and Sucker Punch.
  • Regardless of its tremendous Attack, it struggles to break through physical walls, thus forcing it to rely on its weaker Special Attack in some cases. Since its Special Attack is nothing to write home about, it relies on super effective moves specifically designed to break its checks, thus failing to handle those neutral to its attacks.
  • It faces acute competition from fellow Electric-types, the most noteworthy being Eelektross, who totally eclipses Electivire outside of speed and niche coverage moves like Earthquake. Alolan Raichu (who can tear apart its counters after Nasty Plot), Oricorio-E (who has an immunity to Ground-type moves and has access to more utility moves), and Togedemaru (who can check Clefairy and is minutely faster). Alolan Raichu, Oricorio-E, and Togedemaru do what? I get what the sentence is trying to get at but the point that you're trying to make, Electivire being outclassed, isn't explicitly stated. I would also remove the parentheses to give the analysis more flow.

  • Volt Switch allows Electivire to serve as an offensive pivot, switching out of bulkier matchups such as Mesprit and/or gaining momentum on the Pokemon it checks.
  • Thunderbolt does noticeably more damage but fails to generate any sort of momentum, therefore being a double-edged sword.
  • Flamethrower hits Grass-types like Ferroseed and Lilligant for super effective damage that would resist Electivire's STAB move.
  • Earthquake rounds out Elective's coverage, hitting specially defensive tanks that would otherwise counter the set such as Lanturn and Probopass, 2HKOing and OHKOing respectively. It can 2HKO Hitmonchan with Earthquake, giving it a niche over its nemesis Eelektross.
  • Hidden Power Grass can 2HKO Gastrodon, one of Electivire's counters. Furthermore, it maintains its capacity to 2HKO other offensive Ground-types like Golurk and Golem.

Set Details
========

  • Electivire should run maximum speed to outpace Pokemon such as Oricorio-G, Lilligant, and other threats under the base 95 Speed benchmark.

Usage Tips
========

  • Because of its good mixed attacking capabilities combined with an array of coverage options, mixed Electivire threatens many different kinds of Pokemon and can be countered by very few Pokemon.
  • Given its tendency to be worn down easily by Life Orb recoil and entry hazard damage, it should be used rather sparingly.
  • It should be primarily used revenge killer and wallbreaker that depends on super effective coverage to axe its checks/counters. With special moves, it can break through physical walls that would normally check Electivire including Weezing and Regirock. Try to bring it in freely (after a teammate has fainted or on a slow Voltturn) as its lackluster overall bulk inhibits its ability to switch into neutral attacks.
  • Electivire can be an effective offensive pivot if it is running Volt Switch. Expand on this point. When should Volt Switch be used? How does it benefit the team?
  • When brought into a Pokemon that it checks, try to predict by going for the appropriate coverage move that could possibly OHKO or 2HKO the switch-in. For instance, if the opponent plans to bring in Lanturn to absorb an Electric attack, go for Earthquake instead to net the KO.
  • If running Motor Drive, anticipate and come in on the Volt Switch from pivots such as Lanturn and Manectric, disrupting the momentum and simultaneously boosting Electivire's speed.
  • In contrast, Vital Spirit can be utilized to protect a fellow team member from a Sleep Powder from Lilligant, I would add Jynx in this point, too. Your sentence is also incomplete.

Team Options
========

Name some setters.
Therefore, it appreciates the destructive potential of common physical wallbreakers like Stoutland and Kingler. Strong physical attackers can also deal with Electivire's counter and greatest enemy: Eelektross, as well as Clefairy for that matter. Perhaps instead of "Normal-type tanks", you can just say "specially defensive walls" right off the bat, since you later mention Eelektross and Clefairy.
  • Other wallbreakers that benefit from Electivire's role as a pivot entail Zangoose, Alolan Raticate, and Oricorio-G - all of whom can manage its counters. They, in turn, value Electivire's support to eliminate threats like Skuntank.
  • Because of its ample coverage choices, Electivire compresses its role and fits well on teams that require a sweeper to deal with the Ferroseed-Lanturn core. I feel this point is kinda specific. I would make this the first point, and just refer to it as a sweeper and wallbreaker.
  • Hazard removal is necessary to preserve Electivire's health. Defog seems a little counterintuitive since it removes the entry hazards that Electivire needs to get certain KOes, so Rapid Spin support from Pokemon like Hitmonchan is optimal. I dunno about shunning Defog as a removal option given how much more users there are of the move. I would start of by listing Defog users, and then say that, if you're able to fit a spinner onto your team instead, that's even better.

Other Options
=============

  • Expert Belt is advantageous due to Electivire's impressive coverage while also giving it the ability to bluff a Choice item. In spite of this, it misses out on a lot of power for its neutral attacks that could make or break the KO.
  • Choice Band turns Electivire into an imposing wallbreaker enabling it to break through certain walls such as Regirock and Spiritomb, but it sacrifices the ability to switch between moves, which undermines its role and overall value. With a Choice Band, it can only 3HKO Weezing and Gastrodon with Wild Charge and Earthquake sequentially, while 2HKOing both with the mixed set listed above.
  • Choice Scarf Electivire can be a good offensive pivot with Volt Switch, but it compromises power and, once again, the ability to switch between coverage moves. It is largely overshadowed by Manectric, who has much higher speed and access to Switcheroo to cripple its counters.
  • Assault Vest enhances Electivire's solid Special Defense in exchange for a lack of power. With Assault Vest, it can check +1 Lilligant at maximum health, but still gets 2HKOed by Specs Pyroar and Drampa. It is inferior as the decrease in damage output is considerable. Mention extreme competition with Eelektross, as well as why Eelektross is better.
  • Fightinium Z with Focus Blast can lure and OHKO offensive Drampa reliably. Notwithstanding, Focus Miss is otherwise a third rate coverage move.
  • Z Electric Terrain can boost Electivire's speed by 1.5x and strengthen its Electric-type moves, but again it loses a valuable coverage move and requires a turn to set up, which is challenging due to Electivire's middling bulk.
  • Wild Charge can 2HKO Clef but is otherwise an inconsistent STAB option that exacerbates recoil considerably when combined with Life Orb.
  • Cross Chop can safely 2HKO Audino and Type: Null but is pretty underwhelming otherwise. I would probably combine this point with the point talking about Focus Blast.
  • Ice Punch goes well with Electivire's STAB move, creating a variation of BoltBeam coverage which can hit the entire tier at least neutrally. It OHKOes Alolan Exeggutor and threatens Ground-types like Golurk.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Specially defensive Pokemon**: Electivire is troubled by specially defensive walls neutral to its attacks such as Dusclops, Musharna, Eelektross, and Hitmonchan. Eelektross, thanks to its ability Levitate, is immune to Earthquake and can comfortably take Electivire's coverage moves, threatening to respond with Knock Off. However, Electivire can 2HKO Hitmonchan with Earthquake. Just axe Dusclops. It's honestly a terrible Pokemon.

**Ground-types**: Gastrodon primarily can wall all non-Hidden Power Grass Electivire variants and can simply recover using Recover. Another word should probably replace the first "recover" to avoid repetition. Ground-types such as Golem and Mudsdale are also particularly threatening as it can take any one move (if Golem has Sturdy) and will OHKO back with STAB Earthquake. In addition, Alolan Dugtrio can outspeed and OHKO with Earthquake but can only come in on a predicted Electric-type attack or free turn.

**Faster Pokemon**: Lycanroc, Pyroar, Floatzel, Scarfers (such as Primeape and Togedemaru), and others easily handle Electivire due to its mediocre defenses. I would expand on this point. How do they beat Electivire? Do they fear any possible options or sets that it runs?

**Priority**: Because Electivire has a relatively low Defense stat, it is prone to STAB priority moves including Kangaskhan's Fake Out, Hitmonchan's Mach Punch, and Skuntank's Sucker Punch.

  • This might just be a me thing, but this overview feels a bit too positive considering that Electivire's unranked. Mention some more of its downsides, like its lack of resistances, middling bulk, and only decent speed tier. Start the overview off by saying, like, 'Electivire carves a niche as a mixed wallbreaker with great coverage options that can outspeed and revenge kill common, slower wallbreakers like Kingler, Oricorio-G, and Aurorus' and then go from there.

i implemented the changes you suggested allstarapology
now that you're saying gastrodon will rise in the next shift, should i keep hp grass as the fourth slot or should i replace it with something like ice punch or focus blast?

i apologize Darkinium, i originally did implement your am check but i guess i forgot to save the changes

you haven't implemented all of the changes. please do so.

also, put focus blast as the final move, and put hp grass and ice punch in moves, as both have their uses, but focus blast seems the most useful without gastrodon.

  • Flamethrower hits Grass-types like Ferroseed and Lilligant for super effective damage that would resist Electivire's STAB move.
  • Earthquake rounds out Elective's coverage, (this is typically said for the last move on the set.) hitting specially defensive tanks that would otherwise counter the set such as Lanturn and Probopass, 2HKOing and OHKOing respectively. It can OHKO Skuntank and 2HKO Hitmonchan with Earthquake after rocks, giving it a slight niche over its nemesis Eelektross.
  • Focus Blast will hit Normal-type tanks such as Audino and Type: Null for super effective damage, 2HKOing both after rocks. It is highly unreliable because of its bad accuracy, which is why it is commonly referred to as "Focus Miss".
Set Details
========
  • Electivire should run maximum speed to outpace Pokemon such as Oricorio-G, Lilligant, and other threats under the base 95 Speed benchmark. The remaining EVs are inputted into Special Attack to maximize damage output.
  • A Naive nature is preferred over Hasty; Electivire's Special Defense is slightly higher and a Naive nature also makes it less vulnerable to priority moves like Mach Punch and Sucker Punch. It simultaneously does not decrease either of Electivire's attacking stats, permitting it to hit as hard as possible.
  • Life Orb gives it a much needed power boost to achieve certain KOs while allowing it to switch between moves. With a Life Orb, Electivire can 2HKO Hitmonchan with Earthquake, 2HKO Weezing with Volt Switch, OHKO Lilligant with Flamethrower, OHKO Aurorus with Earthquake, and 2HKO specially defensive Audino with Focus Blast after Stealth Rock.
  • Motor Drive makes it immune to and actually benefits from Volt Switch, (electric-type moves, in general.) giving it a +1 Speed boost and turns it into a much more imposing wallbreaker that can effectively nullify faster Pokemon such as Floatzel.
  • Vital Spirit is another viable option as it prevents Electivire from being afflicted by sleep-inducing moves such as Jynx's Lovely Kiss and Lilligant's Sleep Powder.
Usage Tips
========
  • Because of its good mixed attacking capabilities combined with an array of coverage options, Electivire can entice and surprise some Pokemon that are brought in to counter it.
(the first part about using it to break walls as well as revenge kill slower pokemon is fine, but the bit about relying on super effective moves is kinda meaningless and not really a usage tip. the last part about how it can break through physically bulky pokemon with special attacks also feels a bit redundant, and you already go over predicting pokemon like regirock to switch in later, so it feels kinda pointless too.)Try to bring it in freely (after a teammate has fainted or on a slow VoltTurn) as its lackluster overall bulk inhibits its ability to switch into neutral attacks. (make this its own point.)
  • Electivire can be an effective offensive pivot if it is running Volt Switch, as it can pivot out of unfavorable matchups against tanks like Musharna. Since Electivire has excellent coverage, it can often force the opponent to switch which is an ideal opportunity to engender offensive momentum.
  • When brought into a Pokemon that it checks, try to predict by going for the appropriate coverage move that could possibly OHKO or 2HKO the switch-in. For instance, if the opponent plans to bring in Lanturn to absorb an Electric attack, go for Earthquake instead to get the KO.
  • If running Motor Drive, anticipate and come in on the Volt Switch from pivots such as Lanturn and Manectric, disrupting the momentum and simultaneously boosting Electivire's speed.
  • In contrast, Vital Spirit can be utilized to protect a fellow team member from a Sleep Powder from Lilligant and Lovely Kiss from Jynx.
Team Options
========
  • In virtue of its ample coverage choices, Electivire compresses its role and fits well on teams that require a wallbreaker to deal with common cores that other attackers cannot (such as the Mesprit-Skuntank core). (i'm not sure if this is the best example, since there are a number of pokemon that can deal with this core + electivire doesn't 2hko mesprit without stealth rock, while mesprit 2hkos you with psychic bc of life orb recoil.)
Common setters include Mesprit, Regirock, and Ferroseed, all of whom enjoy Electivire's capacity to neutralize offensive threats like Lilligant.
  • Grass-types make great partners because of exceptional type synergy. Lilligant and Alolan Exeggutor can set up on or threaten the Ground-types that check Electivire including Golem and Mudsdale. In return, Electivire can stomach a Supersonic Skystrike from Oricorio-G or Swanna and terrorize them with an Electric STAB move.
  • Electivire appreciates the destructive potential of common physical wallbreakers like Kangaskhan and Kingler. Strong physical attackers can also deal with Electivire's counter and greatest enemy: Eelektross, as well as Clefairy for that matter. (they deal with special walls in general, be sure to mention that but specify eelektross and clefairy.)
  • Other wallbreakers that benefit from Electivire's role as a pivot entail Zangoose, Alolan Raticate, and Oricorio-G - all of whom can manage its counters. They in turn value Electivire's support to wear down bulkier Pokemon like Aggron, Ferroseed, and Lanturn.
  • Hazard removal is necessary to preserve Electivire's health. Rapid Spin support is optimal but since there are many more viable Defoggers in the tier such as Silvally, Swanna, and Skuntank, it is a solid alternative. (rapid spin doesn't get rid of hazards you set, which is actually important af to note, since electivire is reliant on hazards + life orb + hitting super effectively to actually ko shit.)
  • Electivire can create a VoltTurn core with Pokemon such as Mesprit and Primeape to further pressure the opponent's team.
[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
  • Expert Belt is plausible due to Electivire's impressive coverage while also giving it the ability to bluff a Choice item. It also doesn't cause any recoil, which can improve Electivire's longevity. In spite of this, it misses out on a lot of power for its neutral attacks that could make or break the KO. As mentioned earlier, noteworthy ones include the failure to 2HKO Hitmonchan with Earthquake and the failure to 2HKO Weezing with Volt Switch.
  • Choice Band turns Electivire into an imposing physical wallbreaker enabling it to break through certain walls such as Regirock and Spiritomb, but it sacrifices the ability to switch between moves which undermines its role and overall value. With a Choice Band, Electivire can only 3HKO Weezing with Wild Charge while it can 2HKO Weezing with the mixed set listed above. (none of its moves are really good to be locked into, be sure to include this somewhere.)
  • Choice Scarf Electivire can be a good offensive pivot with Volt Switch, but it compromises power and, once again, the ability to switch between coverage moves. It is largely overshadowed by Manectric, who has much higher speed and access to Switcheroo to cripple its counters.
  • Fightinium Z with Focus Blast can KO Regirock after a little prior damage. Fightinium Z with Cross Chop can lure and has an 80% chance to OHKO specially defensive Audino after Stealth Rock damage. With 40 Attack EVs, it can secure the KO after rocks. Nevertheless, it is more situational because of its one-time use and similarly diminishes Electivire's overall power. (separate these two, they're different moves and serve slightly different purposes.)
  • Z Electric Terrain can boost Electivire's speed by 1.5x and strengthen its Electric-type moves, but again it loses a valuable coverage move and requires a turn to set up, which is challenging due to Electivire's middling bulk.
  • Wild Charge can 2HKO Clefairy but is otherwise an inconsistent STAB option that exacerbates recoil considerably when combined with Life Orb.
  • Ice Punch goes well with Electivire's STAB move, creating a variation of BoltBeam coverage which can hit the entire tier at least neutrally. It OHKOes Alolan Exeggutor and threatens Ground-types like Golurk. (i said to put this in moves.)
  • Hidden Power Grass can also 2HKO viable offensive Ground-types like Golurk and Golem, but is otherwise a second rate coverage move.
Checks and Counters
===================

**Specially defensive Pokemon**: Electivire is troubled by specially defensive walls neutral to its attacks such as Musharna, Eelektross, and Hitmonchan. Eelektross, thanks to its ability Levitate, is immune to Earthquake and can comfortably take Electivire's coverage moves, threatening to respond with Knock Off. However, Electivire can 2HKO Hitmonchan with Earthquake. (mention clefairy here. though earthquake 3hkos, you easily set up with calm mind and stall electivire out with softboiled due to the life orb recoil.)

**Ground-types**: Gastrodon primarily can wall all non-Hidden Power Grass Electivire variants and can simply rejuvenate its health using Recover. (rip gastrodon) Ground-types such as Golem and Mudsdale are also particularly threatening as it can take any one move (if Golem has Sturdy) and will OHKO back with STAB Earthquake. In addition, Alolan Dugtrio can outspeed and OHKO with Earthquake but can only come in on a predicted Electric-type attack or free turn.

**Faster Pokemon**: Lycanroc, Pyroar, Floatzel, Scarfers (such as Primeape and Pinsir), (pinsir is not a common enough choice scarf user to warrant this mention.) and others easily handle Electivire due to its mediocre defenses as they can comfortably net the OHKO or 2HKO with their STAB attacks. On the other hand, they must be wary of Electivire's strong attacks in return.

**Priority**: Because Electivire has a relatively low Defense stat, it is prone to STAB priority moves including Kangaskhan's Fake Out, Hitmonchan's Mach Punch, and Skuntank's Sucker Punch.
implement this and tag me again when you've finished. this analysis still has a couple of issues that i want to see fixed before giving this the OK, like the unnecessary use of obnoxiously big words that honestly don't need to be there and slight elaboration problems. you also still haven't completely implemented the changes from the first check.

allstarapology at this point I'm sure i implemented everything you suggested

under the first bullet point for team options, is it okay if i use the lilligant-lanturn example as a common core electivire can break through? if not, can you suggest a different one because i'm having trouble thinking of others

idk if crotomb is the best example, since if you're not hitting it on the switch-in, it uses calm mind, avoids the 2hko from thunderbolt, rests, and successfully pp stalls you.

elaborate a bit more on the point about using it as a wallbreaker by mentioning when in particular in should attempt to break + give examples of foes it can revenge kill.

something like weezing + lanturn or regirock + ferroseed + lanturn (ik i told you to change this at first, but that was not a wise choice in hindsight. forgive me.

qc 2/3. be sure to fix the spacing issues + keep your analysis in layman's terms. it's more of a personal thing, but throughout the analysis, i noticed a number of words that didn't immediately make sense to me (i.e.: acute competition, engender), and you did this in your rotom-s analysis too. keeping things as simple as possible makes it easier for readers to understand.

dont forget to remove mentions of things that are no longer in the tier. there's also no mention of newer pokes which could definitely get added in places, like how ice punch hits alt or omastar appreciates its breaking or whatever.
[OVERVIEW]

Electivire carves a niche unfortunate phrase since it kinda sucks and isn't ranked. there are ways u could write this that dont imply this thing has a niche as a mixed wallbreaker with great coverage options and a speed tier that can outspeed and revenge kill common, slower wallbreakers like Kingler, Oricorio-G, and Aurorus after Stealth Rock idk why it says after rocks here, u can kill these mons without them and it's very weird phrasing to slap in the middle of the overview. Since there are so many different possibilities in terms of sets and coverage moves, Electivire can be unpredictable though its other options are usually suboptimal. Despite its offensive prowess, its frailty and middling speed make it susceptible to faster attackers such as Lycanroc, Choice Scarf users like Primeape and Togedemaru, and priority such as Zangoose's Quick Attack and Skuntank's Sucker Punch. Regardless of its tremendous Attack, it struggles to break through physical walls, thus forcing it to rely on its weaker Special Attack in some cases. Since its Special Attack is nothing to write home about, it relies on super effective moves specifically designed to break its checks, thus failing to handle those neutral to its attacks such as Audino and defensive Spiritomb. It faces harsh competition from fellow Electric-types, the most noteworthy being Eelektross, who totally eclipses Electivire besides having much lower speed and lacking niche coverage moves like Earthquake. Other arguably better Electric-types include Alolan Raichu, who can break down its counters with Nasty Plot. Togedemaru, who can check Clefairy, is also slightly faster so it can outpace base 95s that Electivire runs the risk of having a speed tie with like Haunter and Jynx.

Volt Switch allows Electivire to serve as an offensive pivot, switching out of bulkier matchups such as Mesprit and/or gaining momentum on the Pokemon it checks. Thunderbolt does noticeably more damage but fails to generate any sort of momentum, therefore being a double-edged sword that doesnt make it a double edged sword, not generating momentum isn't a drawback like recoil or a recharge turn or whatever. Regardless, it can score the 2HKO on Gurdurr and defensive Mesprit after Stealth Rocks while Volt Switch cannot. Flamethrower hits Grass-types like Ferroseed remove and Lilligant for super effective damage that would resist Electivire's STAB move. Earthquake hits specially defensive tanks that would otherwise counter the set such as Lanturn and Probopass, 2HKOing and OHKOing respectively. It can OHKO Skuntank and 2HKO Hitmonchan with Earthquake after rocks, giving it a slight niche over its nemesis Eelektross. Focus Blast will hit Normal-type tanks such as Audino and Type: Null for super effective damage, 2HKOing both after damage from Stealth Rock. Yet it is highly unreliable because of its bad accuracy. Ice Punch goes well with Electivire's STAB move, creating a variation of BoltBeam coverage which can hit the entire tier at least neutrally. It threatens offensive Ground-types like Golurk and with 24 Attack EVs, OHKOes Alolan Exeggutor without needing Stealth Rock drop the mention of 24 attack, realistically u dont wanna run it, just setting rocks makes more sense.

Set Details

Electivire should run maximum speed to outpace Pokemon such as Oricorio-G, Lilligant, and other threats under the base 95 Speed benchmark. The remaining EVs are inputted into Special Attack to maximize damage output. A Naive nature is preferred over Hasty; Electivire's Special Defense is slightly higher saying its spdef is slightly higher only makes this confusing, since u normally invest in the higher defense and it being higher has nothing to do with the main reason u want naive, not dropping ur defense to handle priority better and a Naive nature also makes it less vulnerable to priority moves like Mach Punch and Sucker Punch. Nor does it decrease either of Electivire's attacking stats, permitting it to hit as hard as possible. Life Orb gives it a much needed power boost to achieve certain KOs while still allowing it to switch between moves. With a Life Orb, Electivire can 2HKO Hitmonchan with Earthquake, 2HKO Weezing with Volt Switch, OHKO Lilligant with Flamethrower, OHKO Aurorus with Earthquake, and 2HKO Audino with Focus Blast after Stealth Rocks this is a little overboard on examples tbh. Motor Drive makes it immune to and actually benefits from Electrice-type moves, giving it a +1 Speed boost and turns it into a much more imposing wallbreaker that can efficiently KO faster Pokemon such as Floatzel. Vital Spirit is another viable option as it prevents Electivire from being afflicted by sleep-inducing moves such as Jynx's Lovely Kiss and Lilligant's Sleep Powder.

gp is going to make u drop some of the its for Electivire, js
It should primarily be used as a revenge killer and wallbreaker. It can quickly dispose of slower threats like Skuntank and Aurorus after a bit of prior damage, while using super effective moves to get past bulkier Pokemon such as Ferroseed remove. Given its tendency to be worn down easily by Life Orb recoil and entry hazard damage, it should be used rather sparingly. Try to bring it in freely (after a teammate has fainted or on a slow VoltTurn) as its lackluster overall bulk inhibits its ability to switch into neutral attacks. Electivire can be an effective offensive pivot if it is running Volt Switch, as it can pivot out of unfavorable matchups against tanks like Musharna. Since Electivire has varied super effective coverage, it can often force the opponent to switch which is an ideal opportunity to create offensive momentum. When brought into a Pokemon that it checks, try to predict by going for the appropriate coverage move that could possibly OHKO or 2HKO the switch-in. In virtue of its ample coverage choices this doesn't make any sense, mostly because "in virtue" isnt a phrase. idk what ur trying to say but it's probably fine if u rewrite, Electivire compresses its role and fits well on teams that require a wallbreaker to deal with common cores such as the Weezing-Lanturn core. Stealth Rock greatly helps Electivire to net the OHKO on Pokemon that would normally be able to tank at least one hit. For example, after Stealth Rock damage, Electivire can guarantee the kill on Lilligant with Flamethrower didnt you mention this as a calc where it needs LO to KO lilligant? or does it need both? either way repeating examples like this can get odd. and Skuntank and Aurorus with Earthquake. Common setters include Mesprit, Regirock, and Ferroseed remove, all of whom enjoy Electivire's capacity to check offensive threats like Lilligant. In addition, Alolan Dugtrio can outspeed and OHKO with Earthquake but can only come in on a predicted Electric-type attack or free turn.

**Faster Pokemon**: Lycanroc, Scyther, Floatzel, Scarfers (such as Primeape) (personally I don't think the parentheses is necessary, but I think it's fine) , and others easily handle Electivire due to its subpar defenses as they can comfortably net the OHKO or 2HKO with their STAB attacks.

[OVERVIEW]

Electivire is a mixed wallbreaker with great coverage options and a Speed tier that can outspeed and revenge kill common (RC) slower wallbreakers like Omastar, Oricorio-G, and Aurorus. Since there are so many different possibilities in terms of sets and coverage moves, Electivire can be unpredictable, (AC) though its other options are usually suboptimal. (not sure what you mean by this) Despite its offensive prowess, its frailty and middling speed make it susceptible to faster attackers such as Lycanroc, Choice Scarf users like Primeape and Togedemaru, and priority moves such as Zangoose's Quick Attack and Skuntank's Sucker Punch. It also faces harsh competition from fellow Electric-types, the most noteworthy being Eelektross, who which totally eclipses Electivire besides having much lower speed and lacking niche coverage moves like Earthquake. Other arguably better Electric-types include Alolan Raichu, who which can break down its counters with Nasty Plot, (comma) and Togedemaru, who which can check Clefairy (RC) is also slightly faster so it and can outpace base 95s that Electivire runs the risk of having a to Speed tie with such as Haunter and Jynx.

Volt Switch allows Electivire to serve as an offensive pivot, switching out of bulkier matchups foes such as Mesprit and/or gaining momentum on the Pokemon it checks. Thunderbolt does noticeably more damage but fails to generate any sort of momentum. Regardless, it can score the 2HKO on Gurdurr and defensive Mesprit after Stealth Rock while Volt Switch cannot. Flamethrower hits Grass-types like Tangela and Lilligant for super effective damage that would resist Electivire's STAB move for super effective damage. Earthquake hits specially defensive tanks that would otherwise counter the set such as Lanturn and Probopass, 2HKOing the former and OHKOing respectively the latter. It can OHKO Skuntank and 2HKO Hitmonchan with Earthquake after rocks Stealth Rock, giving it Electivire a slight niche over its nemesis Eelektross. Focus Blast will hit Normal-type tanks such as Audino and Type: Null for super effective damage, yet it is highly unreliable because of its bad accuracy. Alternatively, Ice Punch goes well with Electivire's STAB move, creating a variation of BoltBeam coverage which that can hit the entire tier at least neutrally. It threatens offensive Ground-types like Golurk and can OHKO Altaria and Alolan Exeggutor.

Set Details
========

Electivire should run maximum Speed EVs to outpace Pokemon such as Oricorio-G, Lilligant, and other threats under the base 95 Speed benchmark. The remaining EVs are inputted put into Special Attack to maximize damage output. A Naive nature is preferred over Hasty, as a Naive nature makes it Electivire less vulnerable to priority moves like Mach Punch and Sucker Punch, and it doesn't decrease either of Electivire's its attacking stats, permitting it to hit as hard as possible. Life Orb gives it a much-needed (AH) power boost to achieve certain KOs while still allowing it to switch between moves. With a Life Orb, Electivire can 2HKO Hitmonchan with Earthquake, 2HKO Weezing with Volt Switch, OHKO Aurorus with Earthquake, and 2HKO Audino with Focus Blast after Stealth Rock. Motor Drive makes Electivire immune to and actually makes it benefit from Electric-type moves, giving it a +1 Speed boost and turns turning it into a much more imposing wallbreaker that can efficiently KO faster Pokemon like Floatzel. Vital Spirit is another viable option, (AC) as it prevents Electivire from being afflicted by sleep-inducing moves such as Jynx's Lovely Kiss and Lilligant's Sleep Powder.

Usage Tips
========

Electivire should primarily be used as a revenge killer and wallbreaker. It can quickly dispose of slower threats such as Skuntank and Aurorus after a bit of prior damage (RC) while using super effective moves to get past bulkier Pokemon like Lanturn. Given its tendency to be worn down easily by Life Orb recoil and entry hazard damage, Electivire should be used rather sparingly. Try to bring it in freely (after a teammate has fainted or on a slow VoltTurn), (AC) as its lackluster overall bulk inhibits its ability to switch into neutral attacks. For instance, if the opponent plans to bring in Manectric to absorb an Electric attack, go for Earthquake instead to get the KO.

========

For example, after Stealth Rock damage, Electivire can guarantee the kill KO on Lilligant with Flamethrower and on Skuntank and Aurorus with Earthquake. Common setters include Mesprit, Qwilfish, and Regirock, all of whom which enjoy Electivire's capacity to check offensive threats like Lilligant. Grass-types make great partners because of exceptional type synergy. Lilligant and Alolan Exeggutor can set up on or threaten the Ground-types that check Electivire including Golem and Mudsdale. In return, Electivire can stomach a Supersonic Skystrike from Oricorio-G or Swanna and terrorize them with an Electric STAB move. Electivire appreciates the destructive potential of common physical wallbreakers like Kangaskhan and Stoutland. Strong physical attackers can deal with most special walls but are especially good at killing eliminating Electivire's counter and greatest enemy: Eelektross, as well as Clefairy for that matter. Other wallbreakers that benefit from Electivire's role as a pivot entail include Zangoose, Alolan Raticate, and Oricorio-G, (comma) all of whom which can manage its counters. They in turn value Electivire's support to wear down bulkier Pokemon like Aggron and Lanturn. Entry hazard removal is necessary to preserve Electivire's health. Rapid Spin support is optimal, (AC) as it does not remove the user's hazards which that Electivire so desperately needs to net KOes. On the contrary other hand, since there are many more viable Defoggers in the tier such as Silvally-Fairy, Swanna, and Skuntank, Defog is a solid alternative. Electivire can create a VoltTurn core with Pokemon such as Mesprit and Primeape to further pressure the opponent's team.

Expert Belt is plausible due to Electivire's impressive coverage, (comma) while also giving it the ability to bluff a Choice item (RP) It also doesn't without cause causing any recoil, which can improve Electivire's longevity. Furthermore, with a Choice Band, Electivire can only 3HKO Weezing with Wild Charge, (comma) while it can 2HKO Weezing with the mixed set listed above. Besides, and it isn't appealing to lock Electivire into any of its moves, (AC) as they either have sufficient resistances/immunities Pokemon resistant or immune to them or are relatively weak. Choice Scarf Electivire can be a good offensive pivot with Volt Switch, but it compromises power and, once again, the ability to switch between coverage moves. It is also largely overshadowed by Manectric, who which has much higher speed and access to Switcheroo to cripple its counters. Fightinium Z with Focus Blast can KO Regirock after a little prior damage, but this sacrifices Electivire's overall power and is mediocre due to its one-time use. Similarly, Fightinium Z with Cross Chop can be used to lure and remove specially defensive Audino, having has an 80% chance to guaranteed OHKO specially defensive Audino after Stealth Rock damage (RP) with 40 Attack EVs, it can secure the KO after Stealth Rock damage and an 80% chance to do so without investment. Likewise, an All-Out Pummeling + Cross Chop such as will KO Type: Null. Alas, it is very situational and surrenders the overall power boost from Life Orb. Z-Electric (AH) Terrain can boost Electivire's Speed by 1.5x and strengthen its Electric-type moves, but again it loses a valuable coverage move and requires a turn to set up, which is challenging due to Electivire's middling bulk. Wild Charge can 2HKO Clefairy but is otherwise an inconsistent STAB option that compounds recoil considerably if combined with Life Orb. Hidden Power Grass can 2HKO viable offensive Ground-types like Golurk and Golem (RC) but is otherwise a second-rate (AH) coverage move.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Ground-types**: Ground-types such as Golem and Mudsdale are particularly threatening, (AC) as it they can take any one move (if Golem has Sturdy) and will OHKO back with STAB Earthquake.
