Emboar

I see him using Nitro Charge to get a speed boost, kinda like DDTar but without the attack boost. Something like:

Emboar@ life orb (or expert belt to alleviate the recoil)
Reckless
Jolly
252 atk/ 252 speed/ 4 HP

Nitro Charge
Flare Blitz
Head Smash
Wild Bolt

He'll be at a comfortable speed with a +1 boost, and has great type coverage all boosted by reckless. Though I agree a better STAB fighting move would have been much appreciated.
i actually found that an adamant nature works better for this set...adamant gives emboar some needed 0HKO's...and this set almost relies on those to get any momentum

With Blaziken gone, I found Emboar to be a pretty great late-game sweeper. Especially for Sun teams. The set I've found most effective is:

Jalhalla (Emboar) (M) @ Life Orb Trait: Blaze
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Flare Blitz
- Superpower
- Wild Charge
- Flame Charge

Not very impressive early in the game, but late game when everything's dented, 120 Power Dual STAB Attacks coming from 376 Speed at +1 is pretty scary if you lack a Scarfed Pokemon. And keep in mind with it's typing & decent bulk (and Sun if you're running it) it's not hard at all to get off a Flame Charge compared to the likes of Infernape.

Just side note, Emboar's typing pairs up really well with Exeggutor for sun-based teams.

On another note. Am I the only one that thinks Emboar is based off Jalhalla?

I think emboar has the bulk to pull off a will-o-wisp set. Nice and bulky. I like using it a lot more than the flame charge sets tbh.
No Ev's for a set, but I think something like:
Emboar @ Leftovers
WoW
Substitute/protect/yawn
*after landing wow, chances are high that you can predict a switch and pull a sub, which is always nice.
*Protect is there if you're unsure of your predicting skills or prefer the more solid leftovers recovery and burn damage option.
Flamethrower/ Fireblast/ heat crash
*Yawn seems like a viable alternative for this move slot for predicting switches
*I like the accuracy and pp over fire blast. Since this set isn't meant to be a supreme killer. Heat crash if you choose to go physical.
Rockslide/ wild charge/ superpower/ head smash/ grass knot
*I think these are all reasonable moves to use for coverage, with superpower as an option for extra stab and power if you feel you need it.

Might want to max HP EV's with some in defense or attack depending on where you feel you need it.

Emboar is like a mixed version of Hariyama without a lot of useful moves.

He gets Roar, so he has a phazing move and he is relatively bulky for the most part. He does't get Mach Punch, Bullet Punch, Close Combat, Fake Out or Payback which is a crying shame but he does get Solarbeam to take care of Swampert and other bulky waters in the sun. Not to forget that he also has Wild Charge, Gyro Ball, Scald, Flare Blitz, and Grass Knot.

RANDOM: Despite its Black entry, Emboar currently cannot legally learn Fire Punch.

110/65/65 aren't exactly what you can really call bulky, IMO. :/

Been using this thing to fantastic effect with Choice Band/Reckless. Emboar is a fantastic late game wallbreaker/sweeper, totally wrecking the likes of Jellicent/Ferrothorn/Skarmory/Defensive Zapdos and even OHKO's bulky attackers like Conkeldurr with Flare Blitz. Not to mention, it can outspeed and 2HKO things like Jellicent/Tentacruel switching into its CB Flare Blitz, which is resisted. This thing is a monster which should not be underestimated if used right.

Here is the set I run. I have yet to NOT kill at least one thing, and at least severely dent something else with this set on PO.

Emboar @ Choice Band
Head Smash
Wild Charge
Flare Blitz
SuperPower

Jolly 252atk / 28hp / 228spd

With these EV's, Emboar hits 245 speed, outspeeding the likes of Bulky Gyarados, Defensive Zapdos, Jellicent, Skarmory, Ferrothorn, Jolly T-Tar, etc.

Just to show the sheer power of Reckless/CB/max attack, a short log from PO against a non stat boosted Conkeldurr:

Start of turn 2
Emboar used Flare Blitz!
The foe's Conkeldurr lost 100% of its health!
Emboar is hit with recoil!
The foe's Conkeldurr fainted!

I rest my case

>Head Smash
>Head Smash
>Head Smash

WHY?! It's his worst recoil move by far, it only covers 3 types that Wild Charge and Flare Blitz already cover, okay it doesn't cover Gliscor but lets analyze this.

If were running the Flame Charge set then he wants that, Wild Charge, Flare Blitz and a 4th move. The move he runs should be Earthquake, now those 3 attacks hit everything except Gliscor. No Reckless boost I know, but sometimes things are better without the boost.

In the Trick Room set he should run Hammer Arm and Earthquake again expanding how many things he can hit.

Emboar simply can't run a Special or Mixed set, with a full 252 EVs and 31 IVs into Special Attack Emboar could not OHKO a Simisear with Scald. That is bad, especially since Simi isn't exactly the pinnical of defence.

Why would you use Fighting + Ground? That gets redundant coverage.

Speed Reduction + STAB move and a Large coverage move, specificly in a Trick Room team thats damn good, better than Head Smash which which just kills your faster and is only worth it for the odd Gliscor/ Flying-Dragon type. Certainly a threat but that's why you always have an ice attack on hand (In Trick Rooms case a Vaporeon with Ice Beam is very useful)

Why use Gliscor as a reason to use Head Smash? Flare Blitz handles Gliscor better.

Right didn't realize he only to 1x on Rock attacks. Well that leaves Dragonites and Salamences as the best reason to use an attack that IMHO isn't worth keeping on Emboar

Wait, they gave this thing a water type move?!?! I think this is a first for fire types.

he is the first starter to get a Fire, Water and Grass move.

Anyways, he seems a lot like Hariyama to me. If only he had Bullet Punch/Mach Punch and Close Combat. He would be so much better. I do like him because my name is inspired from him and his line, so it saddens me that he has potential but Game Freak didn't really give it all to him.
