Not A Bug Encore-overridden choices interaction with Prankster on Dark-types

What type of bug are you reporting? Mechanics

What is the bug?
A dark-type, upon using Encore on a Prankster pokemon that used a status move on the last turn, can be hit and affected by that status move if the Prankster pokemon was attempting to use a damaging move on that turn.

See this replay at turns 5 and 6:

Are you able to replicate it? If so, how?
As a dark-type, use Encore on a prankster pokemon when they used a status move last turn (thunder wave, etc), as the prankster pokemon is attempting to use a damaging move.
We tested it with both pokemon going first in two different battles - behavior did not change based on either pokemon being outsped by the other.

UPDATE - cause has been found - it is a result of being forced to use a status move when the pokemon using the status move was attempting to instead use a damaging move before being encored. Not sure if still a bug - advise?
