Nanoswine - I didn't find it particularly hard hitting or impressive, but the delivery was very solid. gj bororo
SaltheThief - Both were great, but that fucking beat was amazing and I'm a sucker for silly intros/outros/interludes.

Ult had a really great rap this round, the lines were awesome. I really liked the job interview theme, and the Mime Jr. child support was brilliant. DLE, you had a great rap too, dropped some hard lines. I liked Ult's better though.

Sal totally hit the nail on the head with the Porygon rap, the Windows beat was perfect, the lyrics also flowed really well and totally fit the theme. Dis, you had a good one too, one of your best so far. Sal just did it better though.

Nanoswine - Definitely his best rap thus far; really solid. Von's was funny as usual, but Nano had some great burns throughout

SalTheThief - Fisdunction came out with a great rap, but oh my god Sal that was amazing.

SalTheThief - I do really believe Fis took my criticisms and worked with them, coming up with some clever lines. But even Sal's beat was extremely clever.

Da Letter El - Something of a running theme since round 1 for me was how annoyed I am at just listing movelists and comparing stats, so this one is pretty obvious. Not for nothing, their quality was close but I have to go with DLE.

I went to sleep, like a normal human being. You should try that sometimes. It's not like the guys have raps ready to posted asap so I don't understand why you made such a topic quickly without giving it a proper treatment.

Also guys, The main voting way in this round is via polls like we all agreed upon, the copy and pasta list comes afterwards if you have something constructive to say.

Also, who is Borogoves? List his name next to his original username.

What the fuck are you talking about? I don't remember anybody agreeing upon that.

Also you posted in the thread after everybody had submitted, and then got off without posting the vote thread for some reason.
 
So disrespectful for absolutely no reason even after all this effort. First of all if you hadven't noticed the entires in the poll outnumber regular list pastings by three times, and since the contest has been reduced to only 8 contestants left it is now feasible as I clearly said in the last voting topic to use the poll as the main method of voting.

Second and most importantly I post the threads when I can and after I gather the necessary material, it is not your responsibility nor is it your business to fuss about something like this.

Now let people have great time listening to your stuff and stop being angry and hasty all the time.

Edit: each and every one of you, sal, fis and ultimaa were late in some round and I went beyond the deadline to wait for you guys, you should extend the same generosity to your fellow contestants.
 
A few things:

1. I respectfully disagree with the polls determining winners. While I do appreciate the idea of allowing generally the best raps to win, there is something to be said for these being battles with a winner and a loser. I personally would prefer that we stick to voting as we've done before. While I don't want to speak for others, I think most people would agree. Voting through posts also has the benefit of allowing for encouraging criticism of people's raps. While you can still post in the thread if you vote in a poll, most people won't take the time to copy and paste the list and give feedback. They're more likely to do so if they have to weigh one rap versus another. I think it's better for the competitors in terms of feedback and better for the sake of competition that we keep the voting as it was before. I do appreciate trying to spice things up with polls, but I do not think that they work best in a rap battle competition, something that is much more directly competitive than, say, the smogon karaoke contests.

2. X5Dragon doesn't deserve the flak he's been getting for this tournament. He came up with the idea and ended up hosting it, and I certainly wouldn't have gotten involved in it if no one came up with the idea in the first place. I also don't see why there is much argument over posting of the voting thread on either side. The thread is here and it has the information it needs. I don't think we really needed to rush it, but I don't blame Sal for doing it. What's done is done; we have a voting thread. But there's no need to be like "well, looks like someone forgot to post the thread up!" The reason he didn't post the thread up was because I posted late. If you didn't already notice, he's about 12 hours ahead of America (don't know the exact time zone, doesn't really matter), so he probably was asleep. If you want anyone to blame for the late posting of the thread, blame me. I apologize that I didn't record earlier; I was a bit busy and I wasn't going to rap while my roommate was asleep.

3. If you don't get the Brad Pitt reference in my rap, you need to watch Se7en. Seriously, it's an awesome movie.

4. I recommend that mattj's remix of mlarf's song be added to the OP, even if mattj did drop out of the competition.

5. Can we please just chill with the drama? In the end, we're still going to be rapping and recording, and people are still going to vote for the raps they like.

Okay.

1. Poll voting is inaccurate. There's no reason to switch to it when we already have a perfectly fine system in place.

2. You don't really do anything, and you need to realize that. You post a thread every now and then when you feel like it. That's all you do. Stop acting like you're some high and mighty person who's had to put in a ton of effort to run this. All you do is post a thread with a very basic list of people, then post another thread with the same list and then count the votes (which you don't even do correctly). But you apparently can't even handle that, because plenty of times has both the actual round thread and the voting thread been extended over and over again because you just disappear. Stop acting like you're deserving of respect for making a thread and counting some votes incorrectly. Anybody can do it, and I'm sure they could all do it better than you.

3. Neither myself, Sal, or Dis have been late in any of our submissions, so I don't know what you're talking about.
 
As a neutral party in all this, X5 I think you should chill out. You're being a bit dramatic, I feel. It's not as if it requires a tremendous amount of effort to "host" this event. Sal isn't alone in the opinion that you've been a bit flaky on maintaining deadlines, and I feel that he was justified in making this thread.
 
I'm not gonna even bother replying to Ultimma because there is no reason to repeat myself or respond to false accusations. speaking of high and mighty its funny how I went from being a good guy to you suck ever since you scored high in the second round. Posts like these are gonna give the impression to people you never won anything in your life before hand.

I didn't even realize that there was a difference between MLARFs post and Matt's quote of his post until now, I thought he updated his rap with the one with beats in his original post lol.

Also I tried to combine the best of both worlds, the list for the actual reviews and comments and the poll because it has at least twice the votes, as it looks like now is hard to decide who won based on a handful of votes. That are my thoughts and I wish people discussed this more when I first posted the change in the last voting topic.

In any case Sal place nano's second name next to his original one and update MLARFS link to include the one with music in it.

It isn't me that's being late with my entries and I only post voting threads when I'm 100% sure that all who had something to offer had done so. It's easy for you to just like that.

I could care less about what you think about the effort being put in the contest, I do this because I love it and that's the only thing I need. He shouldn't have made the thread when he had no contact with other contestants but since he made he should finish the job properly.

I never made any false accusations. Everything I've said is true. You've been late multiple times in making the new threads/updating them, and you've miscounted the votes.

You've had two responsibilities for this: post the threads on times and count the votes

You've failed to accomplish either of those things.

Also you went from being the "good guy" to "you suck" when you failed to adhere to those simple responsibilities.

Everyone in this round who was going to submit had done so.

If you have a concern with people being late with entries, mayhaps you should enforce the deadline more strictly instead of giving out extensions like Halloween candy...
 
Some people have work, sleep, have breaks, tests,get sick, needed more time to find the right thing, etc. the week deadline is just an idea for people to think about On how long they should take and since they are real people real people excuses should be taken into account.
 
I'm gonna send two messages one to nano and the other to MLa to follow up on their stuff. Come April 27 well see what happens. This discussion is over and now back to voting.
 
You need to start reading posts more carefully fis. The link to MLARFS rap isn't the one with music in it and people are gonna get conFused when they look for the poll for nano's name and instead they see his nick. There isn't even of this in the OP.

MLaRF's submission is the one in the OP. mattj did some remix of it, but that's not MLaRF's actual submission, so Sal was correct in posting that.

Yes, he has Borogroves in the poll, but seeing as how the poll votes don't actually count, I don't see why it matters. Sal has the correct name and the correct post linked in the OP.

The OP link to MlARF's rap is his submission. The remixed version is not what he posted, that was mattj. So unless you are implying MlARF's submission is incorrect, I don't see what the problem is. Also using Nano's alternative name isn't confusing to anyone aside from you, apparently.

Again, I feel that you are making a much bigger deal about this whole event than is necessary.
