Errors with MetalKid's Site

"It has been a while since I've done an update. I just moved into a new house, so I'm still dealing with a few loose ends (moved in on the 20th). My host is apparently moving the SQL Server database, so it may be down for a while. Since my site is pretty much driven off that thing, most of it probably won't work at all. It should be up in a couple of hours from now, at least (Posted this at 8 AM EST). " - My News Page

They moved it over, but they didn't put a setting correct so anyone using a 1&1 SQL database is hosed right now... I just told them how to resolve the issue, but I don't know how long it'll be... When I got home, I had over 1800 emails about errors people had, and I was like... Oh man, now what...

No clue... But I don't think they even know there is an issue right now... I'm hoping that it'll get fixed in an hour or two.

Hope this gets resolved soon. I'd ask you the usual questions that get asked when something breaks but you've probably heard it all before.

Also you do great work. Really love your calculator I use it all the time.

Seeing as how you are here I thought I would put some insight on changes you have made.

When you updated the IV Calculator to factor in characteristics you deleted some important things from the calculator. The reset button no longer reset the entered stats, but reset the whole page including pokemon, nature, ect. It also no longer took into consideration an entered Hidden Power. If I was close to figuring out exact ivs, but needed more rare candies I would just find out the hidden power by battling and then enter it on the calculator. It would then get rid of all ivs that cannot go with that type, thus making the ivs more exact. It no longer did that when you updated it to factor in characteristics.

Hmm, I didn't mess with the Hidden Power Type code... But just because you enter it in, doesn't actually mean it'll help limit it. It is pretty fickle sometimes.

Since you're here, I'll chime in on something I noticed didn't work: Solid Rock. Solid Rock doesnt reduce any damage when input, not that it's hard to manually figure out, just wasn't sure if you were aware of it or not.

Hope this gets resolved soon. Also last time I used your calculator, the ability rivalry doesn't affect damage even though it should against same gender enemies.

And since we are offering inputs, I guess I should point out that the damage reducing berries are not in the items list.

It is possible to make an accurate estimate by simply reducing the attack stage to -2 but I thought I should mention that.

do you have .NET?

if yes, well the first time i downloaded v5 I have problems too, the IV calculator didnt display anything just <<not found>> string so I open the database and figure that the problem was the URN's table, the LCID was 1033 (english) but Im using a windows in spanish (3082) so I run an update query and everything work again.

@metalkid do you plan on update the chain breeding feature anytime soon?, I really miss that XD

I'm assuming that the error also caused it so that if a person visited the page, then a new email would be sent to Metalkid about the problem

Either way, hope it get's fixed soon. Metalkid is one of the most reliable damage calculators :)

Other day I tried to do some damage calcing with WiseGlasses Starmie, and from what I could tell, there was no change from using them...so meh.

The site is working again.

I will make it my duty to fix up the last pieces of the damage calc this weekend. There were 2 people that were working on the new changes for D/P. If one of those two could contact me about all the new changes, I'll incorporate them into my calc! I know mine isn't perfect, but at least I try! :)

ok I like your shit I guess but I think updating about your site is appropriate to do... on your site. When my site goes back up, I'm not going to make it a point to post on your forums about -my- site. Show the same courtesy.
