I really can't see this guy becoming popular if (until?) sun/ vincini is banned. Plus, sweeping is hard if everything in the tier except slowbro outspeeds.
 
I wouldn't say he is meant to sweep teams, unless you have a TR team. He's more the type of pokemon to punch huge holes into what ever it can, which he can do a easily because steel/bug is great defensive typing so he has lots of chances to get switched in.
 
I'm currently running a choice band version of this thing on my OU trick room teamand I'm telling you it works wonders. I've even 2HKO'd poison heal gliscors with a double edge. In fact the only things I've seen not get dented by the megahorm/double edge combo are dusknoir/dusclops and defensive steel types i.e. ferrothorn
 
The choice band set is really outstanding, but I really feel the Swords Dance set is completely outclassed by Durant. Sure it has decent bulk but Escavaliers low speed really hurts it in the sweeping department. If you want a stall breaker use Excavalier, but if you want a sweeper use Durant.

Escavalier using Swords Dance is the same amount of attack boost as Hustle Durant after one Hone Claws. Durant is definately a better choice outside of trickroom.
 
I based a UU team off of CB Esca and he's an absolute monster - albeit with some team support. I run a Flash Fire Chandy & CM Slowbro to balance his weaknesses, as well as hazards and dual screens to promote his longevity. One thing that I was impressed with in regards to his power was his ability to take out resists - for example: Swarm-boosted Megahorn 2HKOs Registeel flat (non-Swarm boosted 3HKOS) from full health. That is a RIDICULOUS amount of power, which is some of why I love Escavalier so much.
