Its outstanding physical bulk allows it to tank hits from many physical threats bars Ho-Oh and Primal Groudon, with access of Roost, Tailwind, Stealth Rocks and Defog, as well as Toxic of course. Going for a more offensive presence? Make sure to set up with Swords Dance/Hone Claws and equip with Flame Orb, and it functions even better in a Trick Room team this way.

Competitive Niche (Ubers only): 4x vulnerability to Electric-type is pretty worrisome... but Tapu Koko rather avoid Ubers thanks to Primal Groudon dominating the tier. To make up for its rather slow speed, it is able to resist Fire, Fighting and immune to Ground, common Uber offensive types, and have all three useful Abilities that makes it difficult to tell what it would use. Waver to make Waterfall devastating, Cloud Nine to mess up with Primal Groudon and OHKO it with Waterfall, and Guts to further boost and avoid annoying statuses like Sleep and Paralysis at the cost of residual damage. It might end up having Mega Gengar to run Thunderbolt and Arceus of any forms to run Thunderbolt too just to stop that threat.

Competitive Niche: Spiritual Mind and Charge Beam seems like a good combination. Why? The Special Attack raising from Spiritual Mind help stack further with Charge Beam while also fixing it its lower-than-100% accuracy, which in turn boost Stored Power further. Tinted Lens is dreadful with it, or if Dark-type poses so much problems, Fearless can solve it and help stopping Taunt and Knock Off. Magic Guard is still there if you want to play support with Defog and avoid Stealth Rock damage at the same time.
