Experimental instruct doubles ou team

A while back, maybe about a year or so ago I wanted to make a team for doubles ou that could use a mon that's pretty terrible, but that I like; Kleavor. Now this went horribly and I scrapped the whole idea, but it wasn't all time wasted since I thought of something kind of interesting that didn't feel that bad in practice. I then expanded on the idea and made a team for it. The idea I had was to use instruct paired with ursaluna blood-moon. The main reason for this being is by using instruct you can allow your ursaluna to use bloodmoon twice in one turn (I also believe that this works with making the ursaluna use bloodmoon the turn after as well, but I never messed with that so I could be wrong). The team I'm posting here isn't exactly what I had been using because I had some stuff on the team that when looking back at it (cause I've just been sitting on this team for like a year) was just really terrible.

Conkeldurr @ Flame Orb
Ability: Guts
Tera Type: Normal
EVs: 148 HP / 252 Atk / 108 SpD
Brave Nature
IVs: 1 Spe
- Wide Guard
- Knock Off
- Facade
- Close Combat

Conkeldurr was added to this team because they were slow, had wide guard, and I wanted a physical attacker who could be strong in trick room and I thought guts boosted facade would pair well with instruct. The main reason I wanted wide guard was to help with my psy spam matchups. I gave them tera normal for the boosted facade, knock off to hit farigiraf, indeedee, iron crown, gholdengo, ... etc. It's been a while since I made this team so I may be wrong but I believe my ev's were meant to allow them to live a psychic from indeedee.

Oranguru @ Safety Goggles
Ability: Inner Focus
Tera Type: Dark
EVs: 236 HP / 140 Def / 132 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 12 Spe
- Instruct
- Trick Room
- Protect
- Knock Off

Oranguru is here obviously for instruct and trick room. The main purpose of oranguru is to stay alive to use instruct and trick room. They also have knock off which used to be foul play and before that brick break. The main reason I decided on knock was not for damage but so that I could get rid of my opponents items. The biggest problem with oranguru is there is absolutely no damage output without blood-moon, conkeldurr, or primarina on the field with them and it just doesn't feel great to have on the field without them, but I'm stuck with oranguru for instruct; although I am now realizing that something could be done with smeargle instead which could also help with the teams over reliance on trick room being up. I went tera dark to avoid prankster taunt and safety goggles for spore.

Primarina @ Leftovers
Ability: Liquid Voice
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Hydro Pump
- Encore
- Protect
- Moonblast

Primarina used to have a very different move set which was much worse but it was decently fun to use and had won me some games. Instead of hydro pump and encore primarina used to have whirpool and perish song, which was funny, but made primarina a much worse mon than they are. I went tera ghost on primarina for the normal immunity and poison resist.

Porygon2 @ Eviolite
Ability: Download
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 HP / 188 Def / 68 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Conversion 2
- Ice Beam
- Recover
- Trick Room

This team was never meant to be anything serious hence conversion 2 being there, but I do think it is a pretty good move, to a certain degree. It's nothing crazy but no one ever expects it and it has really helped with keeping porygon in the match. My tera is purely defensive and ice beam while probably not the best move to have on porygon does help with matchups into lando, tornadus, and garchomp.

Ursaluna-Bloodmoon @ Throat Spray
Ability: Mind's Eye
Tera Type: Normal
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Blood Moon
- Hyper Voice
- Earth Power
- Protect

My ursaluna blood moon set really isn't anything out of the norm so I don't really think I have to elaborate on any of it. It's really just as simple as clicking hyper voice then blood-moon.

Amoonguss @ Black Sludge
Ability: Regenerator
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 248 HP / 8 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Spore
- Rage Powder
- Protect
- Pollen Puff

My amoonguss is also very basic and I don't really think elaboration is necessary.

The main purpose of this post was to highlight a little niche strategy that I don't know if anyone has bothered to explore yet and I think it's obvious from this post but I'm not a very good mons player nor am I a good team builder. I believe using this team I had peaked at around 1500 elo and then I just stopped playing for a while. After this I may try and make a better rendition of a team that uses instruct after realizing that since smeargle exists oranguru is not the only pokemon with instruct and that can save me from needing to use trick room. The biggest thing to watch out for with this strategy is redirection since instruct can be redirected so there is some caution to be taken when faced with any rage powder or follow me mons as well as other trick room teams. Hopefully this post isn't too hard a read cause I'm not going to re-read it or anything like that to try and condense it and make it more intelligible.

Hi there and thanks for your interest in DOU! Unfortunately we don't allow individual threads for showcasing teams in the DOU forum (all new threads need to be approved by the mod team), so I'll have to archive this thread. Feel free to ask for advice in the smogon doubles room on PS, the DOU Discord, and the Doubles Overview thread, or post your team in the DOU team bazaar.

Anyways, your team is definitely pretty unconventional, and it might be difficult to make all of the ideas work at once. You might have an easier time if you focused on the Oranguru and surrounded with better Pokemon in the tier. Ursaluna-Bloodmoon, Porygon2, and Amoonguss are fine pokemon, but Conkeldurr is going to be difficult to get mileage out of in this tier, especially when you're already using Oranguru. You can check out the Viability Rankings to get an idea of some other strong Trick Room options. For example, you could try something like Oranguru/Diancie/Ursaluna Bloodmoon/Amoonguss +2.

If you want to get a better idea of common Trick Room teams in this format, you can check out the Sample Teams thread, some team dumps following last year's Smogon Champions League, or the aforementioned Team Bazaar. Hope this helps!
