Client Explode on substitute causes sprite to disappear

What is the bug?
Weird visual bug if you explode on a substitute in gen 1. Cloyster exploded on Alakazam's substitute and its sprite vanished. And then when Alakazam attacked, Cloyster's sprite quickly came back. However, the bug doesn't seem to happen if you skip the turn, only if you watch it all the way (this happens on the replay too btw)

Are you able to replicate it? If so, how?
just explode on a sub in a game and don't skip the turn.

This may be intentional, because the sprite will disappear on cart, too

Nah, this is a visual client bug. If we were for some reason trying to simulate the sprite disappearing, it should remain gone even if the Explosion user takes damage.
