Team Bulk

This team is focused around bulky attackers and a choice sweeper for late game. By exploiting the hard counters for some of the top threats of the UU metagame this team tears big holes until the opponent’s team looses synergy and gets steamrolled by the powerful attacks. No hazards, not spinner, just muscle though before the momentum changes against me. My first time back at Smogon since 4th gen UU I have liked what I have done with this team.

Shaymin @ Life Orb
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Seed Flare
- Rest
- Earth Power
- Air Slash

With incredible stats and one of the most devastating moves Shaymin poses a serious threat to any Pokémon switching in on it. Shymin was added to the team to counter the bulky waters that populate the tier, and to counter the two main grass types (Roserade and other Shaymin). Shaymin when not countering something specifically blasts holes in whatever switches in on him with seed flare, which just makes the job of the rest of the team easier. I use rest over synthesis as Shaymin switches out after one or two turns I have experienced, and Shaymin is too important when going against sand teams to neuter his healing capabilities. Moves are for coverage, EVs are for sweeping.

Rhyperior (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Solid Rock
EVs: 208 HP / 252 Atk / 48 SDef
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Megahorn
- Substitute

Rhyperior is one of the most valuable members of this team. Without him I would bet swept by Darmanitan, Stoutlnd, and Snorlax every game, but with him I am fully capable of taking on several of the top physical threats of the tier. Like most members of my team his role is as a bulky attacker. His high base power stabs and megahorn allow him to hurt most Pokémon enough to make them Krookodile bait later. Substitute is for scouting and was chosen over stealth rock as I found this team forced few switches. He works well with Shaymin and Milotic as his walls and counters are often checked themselves by my grass-water core. Overall he is an essential member of my team and covers up my most glaring weaknesses.

Zapdos @ Leftovers
Trait: Pressure

- Hidden Power [Grass]

Zapados has only ever used three moves well. He comes in, blasts with heat wave and thunderbolt and the only times I have used HP he has gotten smacked down with stone edge. Zapados is important for the success of the team; he performs well and like all the other Pokémon packs an offensive and defensive punch. I jut feel like I have been wasting him. He is important as a flyer for choice ground moves and a fighting resist. I want to keep him but I also want to maximize what he can do. EVs are for special bulk.

Milotic @ Leftovers
Trait: Marvel Scale
EVs: 248 HP / 196 Def / 56 SDef / 8 Spd
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Sleep Talk
- Scald
- Dragon Tail
- Rest

Milotic in my experience is one of the greatest walls in UU. Rest is one her best sets and allows my stop all but the strongest attackers. Although she herself is little more then a defensive point for the team, most of the Pokémon that would come into set up on her struggle against the other members of the team. She is very important b being the only ice resist in a team with tons of ice weakness. Moves are pretty standard for a rest-talk set. I have been using Dragon Tail but due to my lack of entry hazards I have been disappointed. I am considering switching to Toxic so thoughts on that would be appreciated. A solid defensive choice Milotic fits well onto the team.

Nidoqueen (F) @ Life Orb
Trait: Sheer Force
EVs: 240 HP / 216 SAtk / 52 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Sludge Wave
- Ice Beam
- Earth Power
- Fire Blast

This is entirely a surprise set, which often nets my two or more KOs. Although not hitting as hard as Nidoking most people throw out a Pokémon that has no business going up against a special attacker thinking I am going to set up. Nidoqueen has just enough bulk to survive a few hits and has some key resistances that let her come in and wreck an unsuspecting Pokémon. Due to the ability to draw in potential counters and eliminate them Nidoqueen is the almost always the MVP. Nidoqueen also absorbs toxic spikes which are the most threatening entry hazard to my team. Moves are there to maximize coverage and stab power. EVs have been working out. A fun set to use that I would suggest trying out.

Krookodile (M) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Moxie
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Pursuit
- Earthquake
- Crunch
- Stone Edge

One of the things that my team lacks is speed. Krookodile covers this up. He easily eliminates physical and ghost types with pursuit or just up front with Crunch, and packs enough punch to hurt non-resistors. But where he really shines is late game. The rest of the team hits hard but lack a speed means that often Pokémon are left injured but alive. Late game Krookodile can pick up one moxie boost and proceed to sweep from there. Strong physical walls stop him but the special attackers in the team take out most of them by the time he needs to come out. EVs and moves are pretty standard. Revenge killer and late game sweeper, Krookodile is the ace up the sleeve.
 
Huge weakness to ice but aside from that it looks good, perhaps try RPerior(rock polish rhyperior), a strange suggestion but have you considered rock blast>stone edge? it doesnt hit as hard on average but breaks subs and flying types with preasure or something with preasure that is only hit by stone edge can wall you (i have done this with an aerodactyle, sub 4 times at most and you cant touch it) while preasure users in general with physical bulk like dusclops, suicune and co could stall that out of PP(probably zappy too).

perhaps t bolt on nido to form boltbeam with with ground/poison im not sure if its needed, t bolt would also hit some waters coming in to threaten you out.

i think you should keep d tail on milotic to stop it being set up bait but yeah, without hazards phazing doesnt offer much reward.

I've seen some krookodile carry a fighting move, it could give you better coverage maybe(ignore this comment, i have not idea)

zappy and shaymin look great.
 
I definitely agree that I have a huge ice weakness. However, so far I have not faced many fast attackers that use ice type moves.

Who would you suggest I replace to put in the fire/ice resist?

Would rock blast still allow me to OHKO zapados and togekiss? I have felt the sting of low pp plus shoddy accuracy but the power trade off is a big change. What fighting move does krookodile usually take? I do like the idea. As for bolt beam on nido, she has no business staying in on a water type especially when zapados and shaymin are there to back her up.
 
Run Haze on your Milotic instead of D-Tail, you allow subdd kingdra to massacre your team if it switches on Milotic. And run Recover + Toxic instead of Rest / Sleep Talk, you got Shaymin and Nidoqueen(T-wave and Toxic) to absorb status.
