This is part of a project to get rid of the poor quality, misinformation-ridden RBY analyses from over a decade ago. These works are low-priority and should be treated as such.
[OVERVIEW]
Farfetch'd is the only Flying-type Pokemon with access to STAB Slash, which, while extremely powerful on its own, falls flat when considering the duckling's awful stats. Furthermore, Persian has the role of STAB Slash user heavily locked down due to its vastly superior Speed and coverage. Farfetch'd has zero coverage to its name and no reliable Flying STAB moves, which comes together to make it little more than food for Haunter. Because of these traits, Farfetch'd is strictly outclassed by other Flying-types, such as Dodrio and Articuno, and should never be used on any competitive RBY UU team.
[SET]
name: Double Dance
move 1: Body Slam / Slash
move 2: Peck / Slash
move 3: Swords Dance
move 4: Agility
[SET COMMENTS]
This is the best Farfetch'd can offer with its horrendous movepool. Body Slam allows Farfetch'd to support itself with paralysis and can be boosted by Swords Dance. Alternatively, Slash makes Farfetch'd much less reliant on Attack boosts, being what's effectively a 140 Base Power STAB move that ignores Reflect. However, it also ignores Attack boosts, putting a cap on its potential damage output. Peck is the second option due to a lack of better options, potentially 3HKOing Haunter after a Swords Dance boost. If Haunter isn't a concern, though, Slash remains a valid option. Swords Dance and Agility are near-mandatory for Farfetch'd to pose a threat, allowing it to make up for its horrid stats while alleviating the Attack and Speed drops from burn and paralysis, respectively. This setup potential also makes Farfetch'd much better at punishing opposing Pokemon using Rest.
It is possible to customize Farfetch'd a bit. Using Slash as the sole attack can open up the Swords Dance slot to another option, such as Sand Attack or Toxic, which can have merit against Wrap users like Dragonite. If all else fails, Mimic is valid to potentially get a useful move, but whether Farfetch'd survives to use it is a different ballgame.
