Paragraph 1
- Landorus-T acts as an important glue on offense teams because of its immunities; ability to sponge and punish physical attacks with Intimidate and Rocky Helmet; and massive utility with Stealth Rock, Taunt, and U-Turn. Earth Power is preferred on this set to deal with Iron Defense Zamazenta but Earthquake can be chosen for a higher power option in other scenarios if the team handles Zamazenta well. Taunt is notable because it allows Landorus-T to prevent Stealth Rocks from a number of setters like Skarmory and Gliscor, and especially Glimmora who you anti-lead well with Earth Power to prevent Toxic Debris activation, as well as moves like Defog and Toxic from slower Flying Types which hope to use these moves for free on a Grount Type move. U-Turn is incredibly vital to the support Landorus-T gives offense teams because you can bring in heavy hitters safely after forcing out physical attackers or taunted passive pokemon that don't want to stay in on Landorus-T. The EV spread maximizes bulk while outspeeding Jolly Excadrill, max speed is also an option to get the jump on more opposing Landorus. The tera type of Landorus is very flexible depending on what physical threats your offense is weak to, but Landorus-T can't check everything, even with tera. Therefore, some of your best options are types that allow you to check pokemon threatened by Ground STAB or U-Turn but which normally beat Landorus-T, such as Ogerpon-Wellspring and Weavile. Water, Steel, and Grass are chosen to flip the script on those two especially. Water allows you to resist Water and Ice type attacks, but eliminates your ability to switch in on Grass-type physical attackers like Rillaboom. Steel, on the other hand, also provides an Ice resistance in addition to a Grass resist at the expense of checking Ground types like opposing Landorus. Grass is a more committal tera because, although it allows you to very effectively check Ogerpon-Wellspring, Grass is an overall worse defensive typing that the other two teras, notably being weak to U-Turn.
Landorus is most commonly found on Offense and Bulky Offense teams where it can be an effective switchin to physical attackers a limited number of times in a shorter game. Teammates that benefit from Landorus-T's ability to pivot into and out of strong physical attackers include slower strong hitters like Primarina and Raging bolt or specially defensive pivots which are forced out by these attackers, especially Great Tusk, Rillaboom, and Kingambit, . Landorus-T fits best on very offensive teams where it is the most defensive team slot. Otherwise, Gliscor provides more staying power and Great Tusk offers more utility at the expense of U-Turn, which is less important on bulkier teams which make progress through methods other than maintaining initiative, such as entry hazards. Therefore, most of Landorus-T's best teammates are offensive pokemon. Specifically, Landorus-T appreciates pokemon that can switch in on its Water weakness, such as Ogerpon-Wellspring and Dragon types like Dragapult, and pokemon that can switch in on its Ice weakness, including Steel types like Kingambit and Gholdengo, Fire types like Volcarona, and Water types like Primarina. Of these pokemon, most take advantage of Landorus-T's U-Turn quite well, either by being effective breakers in the case of Primarina and Ogerpon, appreciating free setup opportunities in the case of Volcarona and the Steel types, or maintaining momentum in the case of Dragapult. A special mention that doesn't fit these categories exactly but appreciates Landorus-T's synergy in accomplishing a similar role is the ubiquitous specially defensive pivot Slowking-G. These pokemon form an extremely effective backbone for more offensive teams that both can maintain initiative with pivoting moves and threaten disruption with Taunt or Future Sight and status respectively.
