Scarf Snover and Porygon are incredible sweepers.

I use both of them on the same team, the former spamming super strong Blizzards and the latter spamming super strong Blizzards to (if I get the Download boost).

SubHypnosis Gastly is underrated as assuming Hypnosis isn't gay, it is effective at crippling the defensive core of a team.

I haven't played LC for too long, but my favorite sweeper is Physical LO Squirtle. Gets priority, great coverage, and hits (I think) 15 Attack. Not the best, but my personal favorite (Scarf Houndour in second).

Dissapointed that noone esle recognises the power that is Magby. OHKOin the three top walls is something to celebrate. Magby can be called the ultimate wall breaker of LC, just fir the fact that the only wall that can threaten to beat Magby is Gligar, and to do that it must win a speed tie. Magby can run a simple set between Flare Blitz / Cross Chop / Mach Punch / Thunder Punch / Overheat / HP Ice

Note however that FB and CC are illegal together, so if you want to beat MunchZor, you'll have to rely on Overheat / CC.

I was running a simple FB / Mach Punch / TPunch / HP Ice set earlier with a Jollyh Nature. Even with a Jolly nature, Maby has enough SpA to OHKO Gligar, which is quite cool

So yeah, USE MAGBY

The problem is, he can't switch in on any of those walls, due to his pitiful defenses, and the fact that Munchy and Gar both carry EQ.

Don't underestimate Magby, most people bring him early (from watching battles). Its more of a mid-game sweeper where some Pokemon are sufficiently weak or semi-weak. Magby can plow through unprepared teams, its a staple on all my offensive teams.

In terms of Magby, I think that his problem is he's largely outclassed by Elekid. He's slightly stronger, but slower than Elekid, SR weak, and his STAB isn't hard to resist. That said, he's no pushover, but Elekid just has that 20 Speed that makes it a goddamn nightmare to fight.

I'm fairly new to LC, but I have to say that in the ~10ish battles I've been in, Elekid and Snover easily did the most damage. Elekid almost always got two or three kills in the later game, and in every game except one it got at least one kill. If the opponent didn't carry a Scarfer, it absolutely walked over the opponent.

Snover was mainly so good because of Ice Shard. A surprising amount of Pokemon switching in couldn't take a max Atk Seed Bomb followed up by an Ice Shard, and Ice Shard was extremely useful in taking out things like Rock Polish Gligar. And many Pokemon, like Bronzor, who did wall those moves, was annoyed endlessly by Leech Seed + Hail + Protect stalling. I guess in that sense Snover isn't exactly a "sweeper", and it's certainly not the best in LC, but it is capable of causing quite a bit of damage.

IMO Sweeping wise, Elekid is better because of its Speed and coverage.

However, I think Magby is better overall. Magby has 120 base power moves to use with a stronger attack, while Elekid has a 75 base power STAB. I actually prefer to send in Magby ASAP because of its ability to wallbreak and 2HKO almost anything. Elekid I save for late game clean up, what it's best at.

Magby is used very differently than Elekid.
With an Elekid sweep, you're trying to weaken the main walls, and taking out the scarfers on the opposing team, and then clean up with STAB Tbolt and Ice Punch

Magby, on the other hand is simply
1. Send Magby in
2. Flare Blitz
3. ???
4. PROFIT

Seriously, all you do is use Flare Blitz, which will do tons to even stuff that resists it. Houndour giving you troubles? Mach Punch is an OHKO with SR, and im sure without SR it comes pretty close.

Basically, what HYU said: Just smash away with your main STAB, use coverage moves other wise. Against Gligar, unless they are scarfed, just hope for the speed tie and KO with HP Ice. noone switches in Gligar on Magby anyways, it takes shitloads from Overheat

Yeah, DONT UNDERESTIMATE MAGBY. although you're more than welcome, just means you'll be losing to franky and me :)

@ bolded: Magby actually doesn't need HP Ice (I discovered), because Overheat from 13 SpA (0 EVs) OHKOes Gligar anyway.

EDIT: Wow over 50 people voted in this thread..that's impressive.

I agree with the fact that Elekid is a better lategame sweeper than Magby, with the latter being somewhat similar but Magby is a better wall breaker in LC.

Mine is Eevee, my favourite pokemon sweeper and what a pokemon, ohkoing many sweepers with just quick attack and sr up (such as dour) it's just a great finisher to the game. Scarfed Eevee can also destroy alot of pokemon team cores.

Second is Elekid, it's another late game specialist, priority and epic sweeping ability with unresisted attacks, able to KO two main walls simply.

Third is Mantyke, it sweeps entire teams when it sets up rain, with berry juice who knows what it will be able to do. Also helps my second favourite by making thunder viable for just more power.

i really like totodile with aqua jet a SD this guy kicks butt! I use all the time to late and early game sweep. I have found however a large number of voltorb which ruins the sweep entirly

I voted other. I've been using a SDTeddi lately, although i'm really new, it's been sweeping a lot.

Teddiursa (M) @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Quick Feet
EVs: 36 HP/196 Atk/36 Def/196 Spd/36 SDef
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Facade
- Close Combat
- Crunch

I've actually been wanting to try out Agility Treecko as a sweeper. Gets Leaf Storm, Quick Attack, and a few other good moves. Does anyone know how Treecko fares?

He is really really weak, not fast enough to use other sets, etc. He is pretty awful.

Really, you've tried it?

I dunno, otherwise, I say Trapinch is my favorite sweeper to use with Trick Room up.
Without, maybe Hustle Remoraid.

Meh, it seriously misses the ability to pair ExtremeSpeed with Belly Drum and doesn't really have enough immunities/resists to force switches from choiced pokemon nor enough brute power straight off to get itself a free turn. Without ExtremeSpeed you're very vulnerable to priority, especially at 50% health and you lose out to Scarf Houndour, Mankey and faster.

Most things that get SD would get my vote were I actually voting, but Krabby, Gligar, and Snover stand out most of all.

Krabby has the ability to Run Agility/SD on the same set and not miss out on perfect coverage. after it is fully set up, it has 30 Speed and 40 Attack and has great defenses to be able to get to that point easily. It even has Battle Armor to prevent an untimely critical hit from taking it out, and Water is a great physicaly defensive typing for such a dangerous pokemon.

Gligar has excelent utility and surprise value for just one pokemon, and has a plethora of moves so that no two Gligar ever have the same counters. Having only one weakness that stands out and two immunities, as well as several resistances, makes Gligar one of the most fearsome offensive pokemon for a team to face.

Snover gets SD + Ice Shard and has Hail to ruin the sashes of any pokemon to allow it to kill them with it's STAB moves. The only things that stand out as being able to take these are Bronzor and Magnemite, of which only Magnemite can do anything back to Snover. Most Magnemites are scarfed, and easily played around however, and Bronzor is almost never an offensive threat.
