Ferrojelli... with a candle, attempt at a VGC team

To start things off, here is the list of pokes I would like to plan on using:

Ferrothorn (Leftovers, Sassy, 252 HP, 252 SpD, 4 Atk)
Spikes Power Whip
Gyro Ball Sandstorm
Chandelure (Focus Sash, Quiet, 252 HP, 252 SpA, 4 SpD, Flash Fire)
Trick Room Protect
Heat Wave Shadow Ball
Conkeldurr (Muscle Band, Brave, 120 HP, 252 Atk, 136 SpD, Guts)
Bulk up Drain Punch
Mach Punch Payback
Hydreigon (Choice Scarf, Naïve, 4 HP, 252 SpA, 252 Spe)
Draco Meteor Fire Blast
U-turn Dark Pulse
Jellicent (Wise Glasses, Calm, 252 HP, 4 Def, 252 SpD, Water Absorb)
Boiling Water Toxic
Recover Ice Beam
Excadrill (Life Orb, Jolly, 4 HP, 252 Atk, 252 Spe, Sand Rush)
Earthquake Rock Slide
Swords Dance Rapid Spin

Ferrothorn would most likely be the lead, lay down spikes, and depending on the situation either attack whatever the opponents lead is, stall with ss, or use ss and setup excadrill

Chandelure acts as my trick room special sweeper. Chandelure waits for its opportunity to enter the match from either Ferrothorn or Excadrill being threatened by a fire move which would then just boost Chandelure's amazing SpA.

Conkeldurr is a strong physical sweeper with an incredibly useful priority move in mach punch for revenge killing, drain punch for hp restore, and payback for the two uses of predicting a switch or just holding its ground and reaming a ghost poke.

Hydreigon kind of acts as a special sweeper/scout poke. This poke has a lot of potential sets and I kinda just went with a default set and am looking for ideas on how to utilize him better. Right now his primary use would be to take down other dragon threats (pretty much other Hydreigon) and protect Conkeldurr from psychic attacks.

Jellicent pairs excellently with Ferrothorn with their defensive capabilities, makes an excellent spin blocker, and can bother teams through either burn or poison status afflictions. Excellent HP recovery throught its ability and recover (go figure). Jellicent also provides a potential chance to allow conkeldurr good entry into the game.

Excadrill is pretty basic for just about any team that utilizes him. He is the best spinner in 5th gen, and with the sandstorm from Ferrothorn, his newfound amazing speed can devastate teams.

Its a pretty loose idea right now, and I am open to any criticism. I just want to note that if you plan on telling me to put leftovers on half of my team I would advise against that due to the item clause. Thanks for the help people. Especially looking for advice with Hydreigon, and items for Conkeldurr and Jellicent.

For Excadrill take out Rapid Spin and replace it with Shadow Claw or X-Scissors depending on what is popular in VGC 2011. Entry Hazards are not going to be as popular in this tournement as in online play with 5th gen being the only pokemon allowed.Ferrothorn should really have leech seed instead of sandstorm mainly because only Excadrill abuses it. If needed (not recomended though) Sandstorm replace Rapid Spin.Dragon Pulse over Draco Meteor for Hydreigon because Sp. Attack drop can be bad. Payback on Conkeldurr is not good.

Evan I am aware that this is a doubles tourney, this would be the team of 6 (with 2 subs) and it was I posted to see what people thoughts on the team would be. If I listed it oddly I apologize. I haven't ever attempted building a doubles team before so I thought I'd try to get some input in first. My main four would probably be Ferrothorn and Conkeldurr (maybe Excadrill in for Conkeldurr) leading with Jellicent and Chandelure in the reserve spots. From the team menitioned above I would change Ferrothorn's SS to leech seed. Dark Arceus, how is payback bad on Conkeldurr? It takes care of the one immunity that fighting type moves has, ghost. With the four pokemon I selected, I feel that a Chandelure could wreck this team potentially if Conkeldurr doesn't have payback. Any other suggestions are appreciated, thanks for the help guys.

You rely too much on out-stalling the opposition here, which isn't good in a see-and-get metagame in which vgc is based around. You need speed, power, and you need to be able to either execute a game-turning strategy (as TR is actually one of the most powerful strategies, for example) or disrupt your opposition's. Reall, if this team beats the first round, I will be quite surprised, it acts way too much like a singles team.
