Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 80 Def / 176 SpD
Careful Nature
- Spikes
- Leech Seed
- Knock Off
- Power Whip

Ferrothorn stands as a great defensive Pokemon in the tier with many utility options to aid its teammates and threaten to cripple other Pokemon. It can switch into Pokemon like Slowking, Tapu Koko, Hippowdon, and other defensive Pokemon to take advantage of them and set Spikes thanks to its great defensive typing. Spikes pave the way for teammates like Zeraora, Tapu Lele, and Tapu Koko to break down defensive cores much more easily. Other teammates in Landorus-T and Swampert can also stack entry hazards using Stealth Rock to help teammates apply as much pressure as possible to defensive cores. Knock Off can remove Leftovers and Heavy-Duty Boots from Pokemon like Heatran, Slowbro, and Zapdos, crippling them for the rest of the battle. Power Whip threatens Slowking and Hippowdon comfortably, as well as being a reliable damage source. Leech Seed provides Ferrothorn with recovery and can also chip down its foes over time. However, Ferrothorn has a great weakness to Fire and Fighting, so it appreciates teammates like Slowbro, Toxapex, and Landorus-T to support it. Additionally, it is vulnerable to being setup fodder for Pokemon like Kartana, Clefable, and Substitute Kyurem, so it can appreciate teammates in Heatran, Tornadus-T, and Clefable to handle them.

Ferrothorn stands as a great defensive and utility Pokemon, being able to take hits relatively well from Magearna, Tapu Lele, and Dragapult, only fearing Fighting-type attacks from the former two. you need to mention Spikes here since that's such a powerful tool and why Ferrothorn is so notable; not doing so at the beginning of this spotlight downplays how effective it actually is 252 HP EVs and 176 Special defense EVs allows Ferrothorn to take on these special attacking threats quite well. This especially lets Ferrothorn avoid an OHKO from Focus Blast and 3HKO from Shadow Ball, used by Choice Specs Magearna and Dragapult respectively. Ferrothorn can use Knock Off to cripple these Pokemon and make them less threatening, along with removing Heavy Duty Boots and Leftovers on other Pokemon like Blissey and Slowbro i think its worth adding something that hates losing its Leftovers, Clefable & Heatran comes to mind. This allows Spikes to affect as much as possible, and help Ferrothorn's teammates in Cinderace, Magearna, and Dragapult break down defensive cores much easier. spikes should be the first move you mention and not the 2nd since that's such an important move to Ferrothorn's niche Power Whip lets Ferrothorn threaten Tapu Fini and Hippowdon comfortably, along with Leech Seed to chip them down further, while providing recovery for Ferrothorn. Ferrothorn also has a great weakness in Fire- and Fighting-types, so it appreciates teammates like Slowbro, Toxapex and Landorus-T to support it.

i think a small sentence about other hazard setters that can form a hazard core is worth adding.
good work! Implement this for QC 1/1 and let me know on discord if it gets passed the 1k character limit and I'll trim it down for you.

this move order is horrible to look at; swap leech and knock

Ferrothorn stands as a great defensive and utility Pokemon, being able to take hits relatively well from Magearna, Tapu Lele, and Dragapult, only fearing Fighting-type attacks from the former two. I honestly think that this introduction is pointless; not only do you not establish anything beyond it being remotely useful defensively, but you're also emphasising easily one of the least important aspects of its niche. Like sure, it has some useful defensive properties, but you're realistically using it because you want to give another mon spikes support, and this needs to reflect that. I also really dislike the gear / lele mentions here, given how unreliable it is at checking either, so I want you to replace them with tapu koko and slowking/bro - and since you're mentioning slowking/bro, mention how its typing allows it to take advantage of a large number of defensive mons. 252 HP EVs and 176 Special Defense EVs allows Ferrothorn to take on these special attacking threats quite well. This especially lets Ferrothorn avoid an OHKO from Focus Blast and 3HKO from Shadow Ball, used by Choice Specs Magearna and Dragapult respectively. This is entirely unnecessary; remember that the goal of a spotlight is to actually explain why its good in the current meta, not to explain every basic detail about it. The on-site dex exists for exactly that purpose. Spikes pave a pathway for teammates in Cinderace, Magearna, and Dragapult replace this pult mention with zera; the only pult check that's affected by spikes is pretty much exclusively tran, so it's not like spikes are helping it break or whatever. to break down defensive cores much easier, along with other teammates in Landorus-T and Swampert to hazard stack using Stealth Rock. I mean you're not wrong but this section is so busy that you're better off just having one focal point at a time in order to prevent readers from getting confused. Knock Off can remove Heavy Duty Boots from defensive Pokemon like Blissey and Slowbro, I mean you're not wrong but this Blissey example makes absolutely no sense... it's not like blissey can actively afford to stay in / pivot into ferro to begin with so idk why you've mentioned that here allowing hazards to affect as much as possible, as well as Leftovers on Heatran and Clefable to limit their recovery in battle. Merge these two points together; it's unnecessary for these points to be separated when it ultimately discusses the same thing Power Whip lets Ferrothorn threaten Tapu Fini and Hippowdon replace the fini mentions with slowking; fini's relativeley dead and punishinig slowking's teleport is p big comfortably, along with Leech Seed to chip them down further, while providing recovery for Ferrothorn. make leech it's own point Ferrothorn also has a great weakness in Fire- and Fighting-types, so it appreciates teammates like Slowbro, Toxapex, and Landorus-T to support it. surely you can just go into more detail than just saying what its weak to.

If any of this is unclear, don't be afraid to ask me any questions. Ping me on discord once you've implemented everything.

As both Magearna and Cinderace are now banned, make sure you remove mentions of them from the spotlight! QC can decide if it requires further tweaking from there.

Ferrothorn stands as a great defensive Pokemon in the tier with many utility options to aid its teammates and threaten to cripple other Pokemon. It can switch into Pokemon like Tapu Koko, Slowbro, Slowking, replace slowbro with hippowdon; reoder this by viability. and other Defensive Pokemon to take advantage of them and setup Spikes thanks to its great defensive typing. Knock Off can remove Heavy Duty Boots and Leftovers from Pokemon like Zapdos, Slowbro, Clefable, and Heatran, this list is p crowded - remove the clef mention for now since it's not as reliant on its item (assuming that it's already tricked its barb onto something else) + this list is p crowded; reorder by vr rank crippling them in functioning during a battle. Power Whip lets Ferrothorn threaten Slowking and Hippowdon comfortably, as well as general great damage. just mention how its reliable damage instead of calling it great or w/e Leech Seed provides Ferrothorn with recovery that can also chip down other opponents over time. However, Ferrothorn has a great weakness in Fire- and Fighting-types, so it appreciates teammates like Slowbro, Toxapex, and Landorus-T to support it. Additionally, it is vulnerable to being setup fodder for Pokemon like Kartana, Clefable, and Volcarona, replace this with *sub* kyurem; volc isn't anywhere as relevant / threatening so it can appreciate teammates in Heatran, Tornadus-T, and Toxapex replace the pex mention with a kyurem check like clef to handle them.
