Set Details
===================
Fidgit’s custom signature ability, Persistent, makes it by far the best Trick Room setter in the entire metagame, and is a pivotal component to the success of Trick Room teams in the tier. Healing Wish allows Fidgit to sacrifice itself to safely allow another teammate in, while also granting its teammates more opportunities to sweep should they get worn down. Stealth Rock allows Fidgit to double as a hazard setter, and should the team have another Stealth Rock setter, Spikes can be run instead. Encore can be used to prevent opposing set-up sweepers from using Fidgit as set-up fodder, as well as potentially lock opponents into moves that would allow a teammate to safely switch-in without the need for Fidgit to sacrifice itself with Healing Wish. Rapid Spin can be run over hazards or Encore to allow Fidgit to double as the team’s form of hazard control, but it is not recommended as Fidgit matches-up poorly into most hazard setters in the metagame, and due to how common Hatterene is on Trick Room teams, the additional hazard control is oftentimes redundant. Focus Sash guarantees that Fidgit can set up Trick Room against strong wallbreakers, but Mental Herb can be run instead to allow it to set up Trick Room against Pokemon who commonly run Taunt such as Tornadus-Therian, Landorus-Therian, and Heatran. Tera Water allows Fidgit to set up Trick Room on strong Water- and Ice-types such as Ogerpon-Wellspring and Weavile, the latter of which is particularly notable due to its ability to bypass Focus Sash with Triple Axel. Meanwhile, Tera Ghost allows Fidgit to block Rapid Spin from the likes of Equilibra and Great Tusk, allowing it to keep hazards up. It is worth noting that it is generally ill-advised to Terastallize Fidgit outside emergency situations, as it gets significantly less value out of Terastallization than its teammates would. The given EV spread ensures that Fidgit is never OHKOed by Icicle Spear from unboosted mixed Never-Melt Ice Kyurem, with the rest going into its special bulk.

Fidgit fits exclusively on full Trick Room teams, where it generally serves as the team’s primary Trick Room setter. Slow, bulky wallbreakers such as Primarina, Pyroak, and Iron Hands serve as the main abusers of Trick Room, as the ability to bypass their low speed greatly improves their ability to break through teams. Ursaluna particularly stands out in this regard as a nigh mandatory teammate, as its nuclear offensive output, very solid bulk, immunity to Thunderclap from Raging Bolt, and low speed make it the perfect Trick Room abuser. Hoopa-Unbound also stands out very well in this regard, as its access to Hyperspace Fury prevents the opponent from stalling out Trick Room turns with Pokemon who commonly run Protect such as Snaelstrom, Gliscor, and Kyurem, while also acting as a secondary Trick Room setter itself. Since Fidgit is generally only able to set up Trick Room at most twice during the course of a game, it is recommended to run a secondary Trick Room setter alongside Fidgit. Hatterene serves well in this role, as it is capable of setting up Trick Room on Taunt users, act as a valuable form of hazard control, and pressure Pokemon that Fidgit is unable to set up Trick Room on such as Great Tusk, Kyurem, and Weavile. Cresselia is another valuable option, as its immense bulk allows it to safely set up Trick Room on the vast majority of Pokemon in the tier, and its access to Levitate and Ice Beam allow it to pressure Ground-types that Fidgit otherwise struggles with. Finally, priority users such as Kingambit, Revenankh, and Hemogoblin are helpful to prevent opposing priority users from bypassing Trick Room while also serving as revenge killers for when Trick Room is not active.

Other Options
===================
U-turn can be run over Healing Wish to offer Fidgit a form of pivoting that does not sacrifice itself, allowing it to put up Trick Room multiple times during a match. However, this forgoes the additional utility of Healing Wish, and Fidgit is generally unable to put Trick Room up more than twice anyways. Tailwind can be run instead of Trick Room on more conventional offensive teams, as its duration is also increased by Persistent, but this is generally not recommended, as these teams generally prefer more permanent forms of speed control such as Sticky Web and paralysis.

Checks and Counters
===================
**Taunt**: Taunt users such as Tornadus-Therian, Landorus-Therian, and Heatran prevent Fidgit from setting up Trick Room and force it out, draining valuable momentum from its team. However, if Fidgit is running Mental Herb, it is offered one-time protection from Taunt, usually being enough to set up Trick Room.

**Substitute + Protect Kyurem**: Substitute + Protect Kyurem sets are incredibly annoying for Fidgit and its teammates, as Kyurem can abuse Fidgit’s passivity and weakness to Freeze-Dry to prevent it from setting up Trick Room more than once and stall out the initial Trick Room turns.

**Strong Wallbreakers**: Strong wallbreakers such as Choice Specs Kyurem, Walking Wake, and Ogerpon-Wellspring are capable of quickly wearing down Fidgit, preventing it from safely set up Trick Room more than once, or even getting outright OHKOed by the former two should it forgo Focus Sash for Mental Herb.

**Choice Band Weavile and Meowscarda**: While not particularly common, Choice Band Weavile and Meowscarda can completely bypass Focus Sash and OHKO Fidgit with Triple Axel. While Fidgit can prevent itself from being OHKOed by Terastallizing, this drains a valuable resource from the rest of the team.
