Well then, I guess with Kaxtar long gone, I guess we need to find a new replacement for the Fighting Gym? Well it took this long, but we are finally going to do it, with a round-robin fight for the title! Today at the ASB Arena, two of the three hopeful candidates will do battle in this arena with a shot at a badge & glory! The catch? Both trainers must use Fighting-type Pokémon. Who are the two candidates? On one corner, we have ASB Veteran & former Dragon Gym candidate: AOPSUser! And on the other corner, we have a stellar contributor across Smogon who has the Super Moderator tag: Birkal! I guess we better go to the rules, the arena, & the teams!

Description: Surrounded by thousands of screaming Pokémon fans, the ASB Arena can be best described as a standard Pokemon battling arena. In the centre of the arena lies a dirt-based floor outlined to show two separate sides (with a white Poké Ball centre). Surrounding the dirt is a moat filled with water. The moat is about 4.5m wide & creates a perimeter around the dirt arena. The arena itself is 24m wide, 33m long. All moves, weathers, & abilities are legal for the match, since it is an outdoor arena with a large water source & packed dirt. Pokémon must stay in the arena (or the dimensions of the arena in the case of Flying Pokémon, who cannot leave the arena & cannot fly higher than 18m). This prevents Pokémon from injuring the crowd watching the tournament. There are no outside interruptions by fans, Pokémon, or other elements not associated with the current battle.

Round One - Fight! (Literally)

Well this is it. A fight to be the king of Fighting. I guess these two are prepared, as the two trainers get ready to battle! AOPSUser sends out first, & sends out Red Hawk the Tomohawk. AOPSUser gives Red Hawk the Expert Belt, as Birkal sends out his first Pokémon: A Gallade! Birkal gives his Gallade the Expert Belt, & the two are ready to... FIGHT!

Birkal's Gallade was first, & after being intimidated by Red Hawk's screeching cry, the Gallade decides to show Red Hawk his moves, focusing himself & then head-butting Red Hawk with brute force! The impact knocks back Red Hawk, but it is not enough to stop him from firing whirling air at the Gallade with his wings! The attack hits, but it does not get the approval of the crowd though — That was not a move a fighter would use! It does not stop the Gallade though from swinging his sharp elbows at Red Hawk, chopping him critically! The attack hurts Red Hawk, though it does not deal much damage. Red Hawk then fires of another blade of rushing wind, but the jeering from the crowd at him ends up distracting him, making him lose focus & the attack missing completely! The crowd were justified by this, as the Gallade goes in for another focused, but powerful headbutt! The attack hurts Red Hawk even more, who then retaliates with yet another blade of whirling air, striking the Gallade for some powerful damage, & silencing the crowd!

With the round done, it looks like Birkal had some good luck this round with a critical hit & a miss allowing him to win the damage race this round! The problem is though, it is still early days; a lot can still happen! What will happen next round? We will find out soon enough!

Red Hawk begins the round by getting the jump & flapping his wings, eventually calling forth rain clouds, which then start to burst to life, summoning pelting rain down on the ASB Arena! In response, the Gallade simply goes on the offensive, enveloping his blades in psychotic energy, before slicing through Red Hawk, dealing critical damage! As the rain continued to fall, the Gallade simply did not let up, focusing himself, before headbutting Red Hawk, putting him in a critical situation! Though Red Hawk managed to get his act together, & attack with a powerful, whirling cyclone that struck the Gallade, hitting him for massive damage! Though this was not enough, as the Gallade then finished off Red Hawk with one final blade of psychotic energy, striking critically as well! 3-2 Birkal!

With the round done, and the crucial first KO scored, it seems like Birkal as got the early advantage, but with two mons still to take out, AOPSUser is not out of this just yet! Who will he send in to replace Red Hawk? Find out in the next round!

As Tutankhamen blankets the rain, making it useless, it looks like the Gallade wants to take full advantage of the new opponent, telepathically linking himself to Tutankhamen before siphoning life force from Tutankhamen, before stopping after reaching his limits! Tutankhamen has to respond with a powerful punch with shadowy energy, & he does, dealing some pretty powerful damage! Gallade then starts focusing, before whacking Tutankhamen with a powerful headbutt, but the flinch Birkal wanted did not happen! Tutankhamen then simply retaliated, walloping the Gallade with one powerful blow that left the Gallade badly wounded! To make things worse, however, before the Gallade could react, Tutankhamen then proceeded to envelop himself in shadows, before rushing the Gallade with one powerful blow, taking out the Gallade in the process! 2-2 Draw!

Well AOPSUser has managed to level the scores now, but not getting the initial KO has not done him much favours with the Gallade dealing quite a bit of damage before going down. Who will Birkal send in? Find out in the next round of this exciting match!

Round Four - Switch Frenzy

With Gallade taken out, it seems like Birkal has to replace his Pokémon, & he does so, sending in his Tomohawk! He gives his Tomohawk the Rare Candy & sets her out ready for battle! In a twist, however, AOPSUser decides to switch out his Revenankh, sending in his Medicham (Karate Kid) to replace Tutankhamen! AOPSUser gives his Medicham the Expert Belt, & sends him out to battle! Though it is not over though, as Birkal switches out his Tomohawk, & replaces her with his Revenankh! Birkal gives his Revenankh the Exp. Share, & sends his Revenankh out to do battle! With all three trainers sending out their third Pokémon, the unknown of a hidden third mon seems to be no longer with us now!

The Revenankh begins the round with the jump, enveloping his fists in shadows, before walloping Karate Kid for a lot of damage! Karate Kid had prepared for this however, & then responds with a powerful retaliatory blow... which passes right through the Revenankh, making the crowd laugh at the Medicham for his failure. As the rain did nothing much, a rather angry Karate Kid fires off a cloud of smoke, before vanishing, leaving a replica of himself in his place! The Revenankh then simply trips the replica with his arms, dealing minor damage. Karate Kid then comes back, & strikes the Revenankh with a blade of psychotic energy, dealing quite a bit of damage! The Revenankh simply responds by whacking the replica with a fist of shadow, disposing of the replica & forcing Karate Kid out into the open.

With the round done, it seems like AOPSUser is starting to crack under pressure, botching his orders badly & losing momentum. Meanwhile, Birkal appears to be preparing a powerful assault to be carried out soon. What can AOPSUser do to get back in the game? Well we will find out next round, & well, let us just say things are not getting easier for him...

Karate Kid begins by going on the offensive, launching a focused headbutt that strikes the Revenankh, dealing some notable damage, as the Revenankh retaliates by grabbing Karate Kid's Expert Belt & swapping it with the Exp. Share he is holding, giving Revenankh the benefit of the Expert Belt! Angered at losing his Expert Belt, Karate Kid attacks once more with a powerful blade of psychotic energy, striking Revenankh & dealing some damage. The weakening Revenankh has other ideas though, siphoning most of his life force to create a replica of himself, before disappearing while showing signs of weakness! Given no other option, Karate Kid simply headbutts the replica, dealing lots of damage, though it stays upright, as the Revenankh caps off the round by linking himself to Karate Kid, before rapidly siphoning energy from the Medicham, recovering a lot of health in the process! At this point, the largely insignificant downpour came to an end, & the members of the crowd stopped sheltering themselves from the rain.

With the round done, the Revenankh has used a lot of energy this round, but it seems like with a substitute in play that Birkal and the Revenankh have the momentum going into the next round! What will happen next round? We will see soon enough!
