SV OU First Attempt at an OU. Help Appreicated

Heya! I've been on and off Showdown for a while now. I've been playing off and on casually for a while but recently getting back into it. This is my first attempt at a Gen 9 team with what I know. There are two pokemon's I would like to keep in my team with everything else up for change as I believe I'm severely lacking in coverage to some degree and knowledge of the new generation. I would also try to not use legendary pokemon's at all nor starters if possible and try to use pokemon's I like.

Kingambit (M) @ Black Glasses
Ability: Supreme Overlord
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Flying
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Sucker Punch
- Kowtow Cleave
- Sword Stance
- Iron Head

The first of the two I would like to keep in my team is Kingambit as Bisharp is my fav pokemon. Since Kingambit is just a better version of Bisharp, I've decided to keep a version of my pokemon in the team. He is my sweeper/cleaner with Sucker Punch. Having Sword Stance incase he is needed during middle game. Kowtow cleave and iron head for STAB moves with tera flying to avoid any Ground Pokemon's or moves I failed to deal with in early to mid game. With Spe and Atk Evs to make sure he can deal the damage and outpace pokemons though i do not know if its more viable to max Hp/Def instead of speed for some bulk.

Garchomp (M) @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Rough Skin
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Dragon Claw
- Poison Jab

The last of the two would like to keep in my team is Garchomp. With similar reasons, hes one of my fav pokemons. I like how hard he hits with moves like Earth Quake. Stealth rock to punish a switch in and a very cheeky tera Steel with Posion jab to catch any fairy types with a surprising damage. I thought of Sword Dance instead of Stealth Rocks to use this sneaky play but i needed some sort of setting hence Stealth Rock. Standard Evs, item and Ability.

Rotom-Wash @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 252 Def / 244 SpA / 12 Spe
Bold Nature
- Volt Switch
- Hydro Pump
- Thunderbolt
- Will-O-Wisp

With Kingambit as my main cleaner/sweeper, I needed a pokemon that can clear out any Ground types and fire types as well as deal with any pesky flying types for maximum offensive coverage. Rotom-wash was the perfect pick for this with Levitate and Hydro pump (plus being one of the pokemon's I like). Since most flying and Ground types were more Atk based, I specked Rotom to be more Def with leftovers just to keep him topped up. The tera steel is for defense against Grass and just an overall good defensive typing. Normally you would see rotom with protect over Thunderbolt but when I used to play with Rotom, I would find myself missing out on an easy KO and being punished for the switch. Ive debated if i should switch out volt switch but its too good of a move to switch out as it does STAB as well as decent neutral damage.

Slowking-Galar (M) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
Tera Type: Poison
EVs: 146 HP / 216 SpA / 146 SpD
Modest Nature
- Sludge Bomb
- Future Sight
- Flamethrower
- Surf

Seeing I have a safe switch in for Ground pokemon's as well as a more than decent Defensive Pokemon, I started to look for a SpA pokemon that can cover the likes of fighting and fairy for my Kingambit as well as a decent SpD for a switch in. This is where Slowking-galar comes in, a pokemon I also liked. With Sludge Bomb and Future Sight (Might switch to psyhcic or Psyshock (Will need to change evs to be more SpA)) as my STAB moves with Flamethrower to cover for Rotom's Grass weakness if I need to keep tera for later instead of using it on Rotom. Surf is there incase i've already lost Rotom. Evs is to keep it bulky and with more than enough SpD to withstand strong attacks with the rest going to SpA for damage. I don't ever plan to Tera Slowking.

Meowscarada (F) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Protean
Tera Type: Dark
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Knock Off
- Sucker Punch
- U-turn
- Flower Trick

While checking out the current OU pokemon's,I have seen a pokemon that will become a major problem down the road, Clodsire with Water Absorb (And Water Absorb being a problem overall). I needed a pokemon that can act as an offensive pivot in the early-mid game with high attack to deal as much damage as possible. I believe I have messed up some of the moves and Evs that is meant for a sweeper but I didn't like any of the other grass types in OU and UU as (I had a look at Leavanny but thats about it, please lemme know if she is viable!). Flower trick for a very strong STAB move with guarantee Crit, Knock off as well as Sucker Punch for some nice STAB neutral damage, and U-turn for an easy pivot into my more defensive Pokémon's with decent damage. Don't plan on ever Teraing Meowscarada

Iron Valiant @ Booster Energy
Ability: Quark Drive
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 108 Atk / 188 SpA / 212 Spe
Naive Nature
- Moonblast
- Close Combat
- Fire Punch
- Psyshock

Lastly, I know that Paradox pokemon's are extremely strong with their unique ability with Booster Energy. After checking out all the viable Paradox pokemon's. I came across two pokemon's. Iron Valiant and Iron Moth. Both in my eyes are viable, but with my knowledge of the game, fairy has been extremely strong ever since its release. Since I already had a poison type and didn't want another Ground Weakness, I picked iron Valiant (as seen lol). As I have a decent mix of SpA and Atk Pokémon's I decided to make Iron Valiant a mix damage pokemon with Ev's evenly spreaded out between the two Offensive stats. Moonblast and Close Combat for STAB. Fire and Psyshock for coverage in general. Don't plan on Teraing Iron Valiant.

Final Words

I would like to thank for all those who have read this and those who gave feed back. I appreciate the effort in helping me out. I do believe that Meowscarada and Iron Valiant are probably not meant to be there, but I'm severely lacking in data and stats of the new Pokémon's. Again thanks for helping out!

Hi , very cool team and it dosent lack anything major just some minor changes like :

Fire punch on valiant to knock/encore/thunderbolt , knock is good to wear down valiants common checks with stealth Rock support from chomp , encore is great utility as it denies a lot of setup spam , thunderbolt hits toxapex , corviknight and moltress and is really good into stall as it can hit almost every Pokemon for supereffevtive damage .

Slowking galars assault vest can be changed to colbur / heavy duty boots because it allows you to pivot and bring in your breakers in , colbur helps with sd knock off valiant which ur team struggles versus aswell.

Good luck!

Thanks for posting! I'll try to keep the mons that you wanted while still improving your team. (my hand is smashed rn so like sorry if i have alot of typos.)

Big Changes:
Swap :garchomp:'s set for a :loaded-dice: one. Garchomp got access to Scale Shot in the dlc, meaning that it can now serve as a more reliable wincon as it can now boost its speed. Dual setup (:kingambit: and :garchomp:) work well with each other as Garchomp deals with the steels and Garchomp deals with the ice weakness of Garchomp. Scale Shot to deal damage and boost speed, Swords Dance to boost attack, Earthquake for stab and Stone Edge for hitting flying types. You can run Tera Blast ice if you want to. Tera Ground is to hit harder and get rid you your dragon and fairy weakness. But you can run Tera fairy for a better defensive type.

Garchomp @ Loaded Dice
Ability: Rough Skin
Tera Type: Ground / Fairy / Ice
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake
- Scale Shot
- Stone Edge / Tera Blast

Swap :rotom-wash: for :zapdos:. In such an offensive meta, Rotom not being able to heal is really bad it will get too chipped down to wall its checks. :Zapdos:'s access to reliable healing makes it a much better wall. Just running the standard defensive set. Volt-Switch is for pivoting and getting teammates in, Roost for longetivity, Discharge for fishing as well as damage and Hurricane to get rid of things like :great-tusk:. You can run Thunder Wave over Discharge if you want a more consistent para. Tera fairy to take Sucker Punch better as well as being immune to dragon.

Zapdos @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Static
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 HP / 104 Def / 152 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Roost
- Volt Switch
- Hurricane
- Discharge / Thunder Wave

Swap :slowking-galar: for :empoleon:. It fits well with the team as it gives a 4x resist to ice which is nice to help support :zapdos: and :garchomp:. We are running a standard spd set. Flip-Turn for pivoting, Steath Rocks for chip damage, Roost for longetivity and Ice Beam is for bating in :gliscor:. You can run Roar over Steath Rocks for Phasing instead. Tera Fairy is for a solid defensive type as well as now becoming immune to dragon.

Empoleon @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Competitive
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 248 HP / 52 Def / 208 SpD
Calm Nature
- Ice Beam / Surf
- Flip Turn
- Stealth Rock / Roar
- Roost

Small Changes:

Swap Psyschock on :iron-valiant: for Encore. It helps stop setup and locks things into useless moves. Also, swap Fire Punch for Thunderbolt. You already have Close Comat for steels, so Thunderbolt gives move coverage. Also, swap Tera on val for Steel. It gives a posion immunity as well as a steel resist.

Swap Sucker Punch on :meowscarada: for Low Kick. Its a tech for killing :kingambit:. With boots you don't take chip from hazards meaning that if you save your meow for the endgame, you will be able to live a +2 fallen five Sucker Punch all the time (with no crit or Black Glasses or Tera dark.) but if Meow dies to Sucker Punch, then you can encore with :iron-valiant: for the win.

Thats all! Hope this helps. Go get em! :boi:
