Hi everyone :o I'm new in the Smogon community and to competitive battling in general. If you are taking the time to read this, then thank you very much! I have set up a team that revolves around one of my favorite Megas: Mega Gallade. I have tested the team out and have gotten good results, but I'm only a novice and maybe you guys could help me tweak a few things here and there if necessary.
Anyways, without further ado, I present to you my team:

Mega-Gallade (M) @Galladite
Ability: Justified -> Inner Focus
Nature: Jolly
EVs: 252 Atk/4 Def/252 Spe
-Swords Dance
-Ice Punch
-Psycho Cut
-Close Combat
I chose Mega Gallade not only because I liked it, but also because I Know he is a great Physical Sweeper able to finish any job when most of his threats are out. [1] As previously mentioned, Mega Gallade is an excellent physical sweeper so he is responsible for finishing the opponent's party. He is also able to come to play to break walls that may otherwise overwhelm the rest of the team.[2] Now, I chose to give Mega Gallade Swords dance over knock off because there is another Pokemon in my team that will do that job. Ice punch is required in case of dragons, which are a big threat to most of my team. Psycho Cut over Zen Headbutt because of the better accuracy. Finally, Close Combat to break walls/finish off bulky attackers that don't resist it. [3]

Bisharp Life Orb
Ability: Defiant
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 252 Atk/4 Def/252 Spe
-Swords Dance
-Knock Off
-Sucker Punch
-Iron Head
A great help to Mega Gallade, able to resist what the other cannot, it is definitely one of the main reasons for choosing Bisharp. [1] Apart from resisting everything that would be dangerous for M.Gallade, Bisharp also has the job for taking off the enemies' held items and trying to switch into Pokemon like Gyarados that have intimidate (of course with great caution).[2] Knock off, as I said, is used to deal STAB damage while also taking off items from Pokemon. Sucker Punch has saved many of my matches by getting rid of Pokemon that had already set up and were ready to tear my team apart. Finally, Iron Head has good damage and has the added chance of having flinch.[3]

Sylveon Choice Specs
Ability: Pixilate
Nature: Modest
EVs: 244 HP/252 Sp. Atk/12 Spe
-Hyper Voice
-Psyshock
-Shadow Ball
-Draining Kiss
With the introduction of the Fairy typing, Sylveon aids Mega Gallade and Bisharp with its typing and thus creating a great trio that can be very offensive.[1] Sylveon has the main job of being the stall killer, making sure no Mega Sableye or Mega Slowbro, for example, set up at all. Sylveon also being Dragons' biggest fear uses hyper voice to laugh at them.[2] Hyper Voice with the Pixilate ability is a must as it will deal heavy damage to those that do not resist the Fairy typing. Psyshock for physical walls and poison types. Shadow Ball for any Psychic type and Mega Slowbro. Finally Draining kiss for recovery damage.[3]

Talonflame Sharp Beak
Ability: Gale Wings
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spe
-Swords Dance
-Flare Blitz
-Brave Bird
-Roost
Most of you probably know this bird already. Seeing its utility, I could not deny his helpful power into the team and is sometimes essential to have a victory.[1] Talonflame makes sure to eliminate big threats and spikes Pokemon like Ferrothorn or even scare them out and set up to deal a massive damage that may leave the opponent unable to fight back.[2] As you probably know, Brave Bird and Roost having priority due to GW is necessary for offense and later a fast recovery move. Flare Blitz for coverage but also to try and burn the enemy (though not necessary for him to do that job).[3]

Rotom-W Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
Nature: Bold
EVs: 248 HP/216 Def/44 Spe
-Volt Switch
-Hydro Pump
-Will-O-Wisp
-Pain Split
Another very commonly seen Pokemon, Rotom-W needed to be in the team because there are still big threats to the trio that require to be taken out or else they won't last long on the battlefield.[1] Rotom-W makes sure to check threats like Talonflame and Landorus-T that are seen in many battles. Also sometimes has the job to scout a team.[2] Volt Switch will help to scout and/or take out Pokemon if predicted properly. Hydro Pump for many of the Ground or Rock types that can appear in a battle. Will-O-Wisp to cripple physical attackers that may otherwise take out the whole team in a couple of turns. Finally, Pain Split for recovery in case of being at low HP.[3]

Garchomp Rocky Helmet
Ability: Rough Skin
Nature: Jolly
EVs: 252 Atk/4 Sp. Atk/252 Spe
-Swords Dance
-Stealth Rock
-Dragon Claw
-Earthquake
Last but most certainly not least, we have Garchomp who is there to take care of troublesome Pokemon.[1] His main and initial goal, however, is to swiftly set up rocks to damage opponents when they come in. Also, Rough Skin and the Rocky Helmet help finish Pokemon that tend to scout or use recoil damage.[2] Stealth Rocks, to do its main job. Dragon Claw and Earthquake for STAB and take out troublesome Pokemon.[3]

Anyways, that's that, sorry if it was long and I would appreciate any feedback about it. Thanks a lot for reading! :D

Hi there, really nice team! Two small tweaks just from glancing over it. First, I would change the Rocky Helmet on Garchomp to a Lum Berry. That allows it to dodge the burn from Mega Sableye, and therefore get Rocks up on it (SD on the obvious switch-in, SD again after). That seems like a small thing, but it's huge considering how hard it is to get down Rocks on Mega Eye. I would also change Talonflame's EV spread. A spread of 88 HP / 252 Atk / 168 Spe, as that give Talon some decent bulk while still allowing it to get by the base 115 crowd (MHoundoom, MAbsol, Starmie, Raikou). Outside of that, it's a very well-rounded team. Also, welcome to Smogon!!

Thanks a lot for your reply! ^^ It really makes me glad that you took your time to help me. Now with this info I can change what needs to be changed and be much better at this. Also thanks for welcoming me into the community, I can already tell I'll enjoy it here :)

Change Draining Kiss on Sylveon for Hidden Power [Ground], so you avoid Heatran walling you.

---

Also Black Glasses > Life Orb on Bisharp because you would rather use a dark type than a steel one normally (and so you avoid recoil damange from Life Orb).

That team doesn't really seem to fear Lati@s at all but another thing you could try is AV Bisharp if you want since you already have other SD users xD.

The reason why I think that set can also work too is because Choice Specs Sylveon doesn't really want to switch into Lati@s at all: 252 SpA Life Orb Latios Psyshock vs. 244 HP / 0 Def Sylveon: 242-286 (61.7 - 72.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Gallade doesn't want to change a lot too: 252 SpA Life Orb Latios Draco Meteor vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Mega Gallade: 243-289 (87.7 - 104.3%) -- 31.3% chance to OHKO

Even If you survive you need to win the speed tie to hit with Knock Off / Ice Punch.

Bisharp @ Assault Vest
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 192 HP / 220 Atk / 96 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Knock Off
- Iron Head
- Sucker Punch
- Pursuit

That sets helps you to deal with Lati@s trapping them with and then have a chance to OHKO them with Pursuit when they change (252+ Atk Bisharp Pursuit vs. 72 HP / 0 Def Latias: 152-182 (47.6 - 57%) -- 89.8% chance to 2HKO). After Stealth Rock is OHKO (252+ Atk Bisharp Pursuit vs. 72 HP / 0 Def Latias: 152-182 (47.6 - 57%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock).

Also AV avoids Lati@s to 2HKO you with Hp[Fire] so you will be able to do a safe switch vs. Lati@s If the opponent predicts the change.

---

Ah and the last thing, use Zen Heatbutt on Gallade-Mega, you need the damange don't focus on the 10% miss chance.

Not a bad team, but it is in real need of some changes. First of all, you have WAY too many setup users. I'd suggest keeping SD only on Gallade and give Pursuit to Bisharp, changing Talonflame to the standard revenge killer set, with Choice Band and U-turn to forego SD, changing the spread to outspeed standard SD Talonflame, I'm on mobile right now though so I can't find it. Change Sylveon to Clefable, for a reliable cleric with also access to Stealth Rock, since I'm also gonna change Garchomp. Set you should run is Stealth Rock, Wish, Protect and Moonblast, with a spread of 252 HP/252 Def/4 Sp.Atk, Bold nature and Magic Guard as your ability, while also changing Rotom to specially defensive instead of physically defensive. Lastly, change Garchomp to Life Orb Latios-this gives you a reliable special attacker which also has access to Defog. I suggest running lure Latios, which means a spread of 4 Attack/252 Sp.Atk/252 Speed with a Hasty nature and a move set of Defog, Draco Meteor, Psyshock and Earthquake to lure in Heatran and kill it. Alternatively, you can run Latias for its access to Healing Wish, which gives one of your team members a second chance.

I see what you're saying, problem is I wouldn't know how to get myself the IV Latios/Latias. If you could tell me how I could test out your suggestions

Genius :D that makes perfect sense for Bisharp. As I said in another reply, could you tell me the IV stats I need for HP Ground? That could benefit me a lot. Finally, I guess I could try Zen Headbutt over Psycho Cut, I was just worried about the accuracy... But your changes sound very reasonable :) thanks again!

I would probably put Baton Pass>Shadow Ball on Sylveon, since it gains you momentum on the switches that Sylveon forces. Hyper Voice 2hkoes Slowbro anyway. Iirc, the ivs for hp ground is 30 IVs in special defense and special attack. The rest is just max.
Another thing is to give Bisharp 29 IVs in HP to minimize Life Orb recoil. The changes from the posts above just need to be implemented, and you've got a great team! Welcome to Smogon :]

Ah yes, now I can finally ask the question I was always wondering about, why do you use Baton Pass in Choice Specs Sylveon sets? Do they have priority or something? Would I be passing any actual stats over to the other Pokemon? Other than that, thank you very much! :D

Ah, so let's say you switch Sylveon into a Mega Sableye. You predict their switch into, let's say, a Jirachi or Scizor, so that you can Baton Pass on the switch into a counter/check, thus gaining momentum.

Ah so it's a counter/check switch? Alright I guess it makes sense, thanks again :) I'm really liking Smogon a lot haha it's full of nice people and thankfully I haven't met with any trolls, yet :P

Sorry then, soft resetting is actually really easy with a nature synchronizer. Get yourself a Hasty natured Ralts with the ability Synchronize-if you can't find one in the wild, you can just try to breed it with something else and hatch eggs till you get one, really not hard. After that, go to Southern Island to get it, and start catching it-save BEFORE you catch it, and DON'T save AFTER you catch it. Go to the Battle Resort and into the Pokemon center, you will inf d a ranger-looking guy, talk to him and let him see your Latios. You should try to get as many IVs as possible, although those that you need are only Attack, Special Attack, Speed and maybe HP. It's pretty easy since you will have that Synchronizer, because it has a 50% chance of passing down the nature it has.

So I have to find myself an Eon Ticket, or resetting the game altogether huh? Hmm.. I'll see how I can work around that. Nonetheless, thanks a lot, your help is greatly appreciated!

You don't have to find the Eon Ticket, you can Homepass it yourself, here's a helpful link:

Kk, sets and stuff overall look good; people already pointed out some obv changes like talon EV spread (never put 4 hp EVs on a mon weak to SR) and lum on chomp. My major prob with the team is that you have a talonflame and no Stealth rocks removal; your tflame will have extreme difficulty setting up since your opponent will almost always have SR up on ur side of the field. Yea so just pick another mon or add a spinner/defogger

Aaaaah forgot... That set also works
